I know this has been mentioned many many times but today i had a light go off...

Heres the story...

I recently got a job as a deckhand working 12 hour days so i dont get to log much. Today i attempt to log to do a deal and shoot a little before work. Get the pc up and gong launch EU and put in pass word... wait wtf is my gc? I dig and i dig to no avail. Think about where i saw it last, right where i was looking... gf's daughter has been snooping in our bedroom for her xmas gifts. She found the list along with old coins and stuff weve put back for her and stolen my gc!.

Now for the shitty part gf hates eu so she wont say anything to her daughter... so as i sit at work and let it fester and think about the gear i have collecting dust a lightbulb goes off...

All items we have now have a unique number to them...

Think about it tier rates can be a "serial" number allowing everyone to match a single item to a single person. That said we can track who has which one of what by the 3*10 tier numbers for each item...


Am i taking it too far? Too much thought into it?

Some say only if it would be implemented by ma. Why wait for ma to do it. As a society if we have a list of what items belong to who we can blacklist those that dont pay debts return items ir steal stuff.

Then multiple reports to ma about said person and let them be locked with all those skills they worked so hard for.

It would be good to see a system implemented for renting/loaning items to other avatars. For example, instead of a normal trade there could be a loan trade, which greys the item out from being traded to another character, or sold, however allows it to be used, the player pays a certain amount to rent it and after x amount of days it's automatically returned to the original owner.

It would be awesome seeing some kind of proper renting system

So how do you know that the person that loaned the item out is lying, and not the person that borrowed it? There is no way to prove anything either way, and therefore either MA would not lock the person or they would risk locking a possibly innocent person.

Except for, you know...
1) The scamming risks (could maybe be minimized by making it exceedingly, annoyingly hyperobvious that the item is going to be loaned out only, and not actually sold... maybe).
2) Markup on most good items would fall and/or disappear (why buy if there is an affordable loan service?).

Of course, there are some pros as well, but I am sure there are more cons than the two above as well.

If all items are accounted for and cataloged by original owners and on a platform all can see the list how can one say they own an item without verification.

Screenies would help here.

is it not already common practice to loan or rent items using collateral? just give a cld or ped or whatever = to value of item you rent +whatever you agree too.

When you get item back you give them their deposit back..its simple and I believe is how entropians handle this currently?

as for the GF gold card issue..any woman that hates EU just is not a keeper ,

better to learn you cant trust them not to steal from you (on a 100ped gold card), than say your visa card or whatever else...cut and run, to many fish in the sea.

it should work the same way we give access to vehicles. somebody can use it, but it stays in our possession.

Loaning certain items for a just a period you pay for (which one could only expect to be expensive ) would be brilliant, that way atleast you would get to experience the best of the best in PE without ever being confident enough to invest in. But i am sure the higher level players who have the best of the best gear would be very unhappy about this option being available and rightly so.

How would you know the two people did not reach an agreement that was not screenshotted then?

Example:

Alpha loans item X to Beta. They agree that it is only a loan, and that Beta will return it after a few days.

Beta likes the item so much that he contacts Alpha via a source outside the game (they have traded skype handles or whatever). Alpha agrees to sell Beta the item, but since Alpha needs money IRL more than ingame, they set up a money transfer outside the game.

Alpha changes his mind, and wants the item back. He goes to the forum and his society, telling them Beta borrowed the item and now refuses to return it!

Beta forgot to screenie the buy process, so no proof there.




Of course, this is just an example of what could happen. Of course Beta could also steal item X and then claim he actually paid Alpha for it, but that he forgot to screenie that process... and people might believe him.



There are quite a few issues with borrowing/loaning like that. Just make sure to only do it to people you trust completely, and be aware that issues may arise.

Renting system has already been discussed, thoroughly. It would drive up price on uber items because they would have more value being rented. Renting with a renting/loan system would be much more prevalent because there would be no need for lots of peds for collateral, opening it up to anyone who could just afford the rent.

MA has already said they would not do it.

Well, you don't need the tier info to track items since each item in EU's database already has one. Also don't they already have such a system with the banks? Would be an interesting idea to bring it to the user level though and shouldn't be all that hard to work out..but remember, we can't be giving MA these ideas...they got to stay focused and clean up what they got already + give us pets!!!!

Ma is unlikly to spend any unneccesary time programing anything that doesnt increase thier profits or is a benefit to their bottom line! If they ever thought about what was good for players they would have a HUGE player baseBut apparently thier not into that.
