A Rex Tale

My saga starts on April 30th.Onica and I have been low on funds so we ended up splitting a 10US depeosit instead of our usual 21US depsosit a month. As always when i deposit i take a snap shot of our skills with the use of the wonderfull PEstats program.(http://pestats.sourceforge.net). So i can gage how much skill we get with each deposit. Helps you feel that you got your moneys worth we find.

So here are what my stats where on April 30th 2005.

Well today June 23 2005 that 48.25 PED finnally ran out. It must have gotten recycled a couple hundred times now. It was kind of bitter sweet because well i ran out of PED but i now can look at what i've acomplished with that 48 PED. So here are my stats today:

I was pretty happy to see this. it makes for a difference of:

Over 3k total skill lvls gained 1818 of them just in combat. I went from 875 Longblade to 1637. I feel like i realy got my moneys worth these months. 5 US dollars lasted quite a while. I would have spent that in like 20 min at an arcade.

So now well i'm still broke and i wont be able to deposit for a little while. (btw Onica is still not broke yet either.) I have some projects though that will be keeping me busy and it will be good to not have ped so i can focus on them and not hunting.

Cool Rex. It's kind of nice to see that there's really no 'penalty', shall we say, for people who don't deposit ample amounts of money. Thanks for posting this info.

(btw, I still think it's high time MA gave you a global and/or a hof )

$10 doesn't last me long at all and is gone in almost two hunts with really poor loots.

Were you just very lucky with high loots or was there something you were doing in your game usage that enable you to play for that long on only $10?

I stuck to pixie armour and axe 1x0's always went out until i came at least close to breaking even and stuck to low end mobs like Berycled, sabacumba, combibo, snarksnot, pluma,exosaur....
I got a few mini globals like 20-30 ped once in a while after some big losses hunts. Was down to just 2 axes a couple of times when i got those. but NOTHING over 50 ped.

Basically using effecient equipment dont worry so much about skill gain and if the loot sucks after 20-30 kills move onto another area.

I hope you realize that even with the old system I think you would have gotten more skills than current. Especially with 1x0

Well, I'm pretty sure we all know that. And yes, it does suck. However, he still got some impressive gains there, and was able to play quite awhile on only $10. This post just proves that you can get up there on only little money so long as you have the persistance. Can you imagine what will happen once he's able to deposit bigger amounts? His skill are good enough to get a MUCH better weapon, and do some decent damage.

Let's all go back and re-read the first sentence of Rex's post for clarification on something...

He survived on for nearly two months of game play on $5 USD not $10.

Double kudos to you Rex! That is VERY impressive, and I don't say that just because we're socmates, but because it IS truly awesome.

I've survived for over 2 months on my last deposit but it was $100 USD! If it was only $5 I'd have been making another one for sure very quickly after the first.

Knuckles: It's not the skill gain that makes this impressive, but rather the length of time Rex was able to play for only a $10 USD deposit....split between TWO avatars! So only $5USD! 50 ped and he played for almost 2 months. The skills gained are just the icing on the cake IMHO, sure they would have been FAR more under the old skill system - but those days are gone now.

My society tends to grumble (And marvel I think) at my looting luck..but I'm NOTHING compared to Rex. To survive on only 50 peds for 2 months? Wow!

actually i thought the new skill system gave me an advantage. Considering the fact i never get a loot over 50 ped in those 2 months also. I was gaining skills pretty good with just my pixie and 1x0 against berry and saba young-Old more then i think i was before the VU.

I do now how to look at changing my weapon i think i need to get a Honor. I got to toy with a determination(not mine it's borrowed)(which is probably why i went broke but hell wanted to have fun and kind wanted to go broke too.)and i was getting good skills.

I think when i do deposit i will probably by a honor and go hunt maffoids or something bigger. mabey argo's
