Is it playable for about the same as other MMORPG's so if put in say £10 per month, will i be able to have a fair amount of nice stuff?
How does the leveling up system work, time based like eve? or experience like most MMO's?
Also when you get killed are you monies (PED?) looted?

thanks.

(woo one hour till the download done)

hmm i overdid the question marks a bit? :D

Yes.
It all depends how you use it tho. If you want to, you can blow it away in 15 minuts ;)
If you are lucky, the £10 can last forever

It's experience based.
There are lot's of skills in PE, and you gain multiple by using weapons/tools or by crafting.

You can play for £10 a month, although you won't be hunting the biggest stuff, but you can still have fun, you might want to put in a little bit more in the beginning to get some mid-level equipment, to make hunting as efficient as possible without costing too much.

Skill system is experience-based.

When a mob (animal) or bot (robot) kills you, nothing is lost, you're fine. In the majority of the continent you start on (Eudoria), other players cannot kill you, it's non-pvp, there's 3 pvp zones, 1 of which certain stackables can be looted, you have to pay to go into this pvp zone, so no worries about loosing your stuff without meaning to. :)

An important point, there's some people out there who will offer to be your mentors, they'll teach you and give you advice about the game, and when you get to a certain skill level, they will get a small reward. Many mentors are good people who will help you and make your experience much more enjoyable ;), but there's others out there who simply want the item, they'll add you as a disciple, then leave you for months on end. If somebody sends a request for you to be there disciple out of the blue, do not accept. Just be social, talk to people, and when you do choose a mentor, choose one who knows quite a bit about the game, and is able to give you good advice.

Hope that helped, and have fun. ;)

Thanks very much Einstein! :D
i'm even more excited now... :tongue2:
some very useful advice there too gurkha I will keep it in mind.

While you don't have to deposit a cent (and several players have made it pretty far depositing very little) in my experience to date, PE is more expensive than most mmorpgs if you are serious about improving and getting far in the game. You can do it at $10 a month, but it will take you more time to improve.

Skill increase is gained the more you perform certain tasks in your profession (more mining, yields more mining skills). You will notice higher skill gains at first - they level off the longer you play.

First thing you'll want to do is to explore and find the teleporters. When you come across a creature, right click your mouse and choose "GATHER SWEAT". You can sell the sweat to other players (this sounds like a joke, but really isnt). With the proceeds from 500 sweat bottles, you can buy your first gun or axe to start hunting.

My advice is to deposit $20 to start. You can get a really good start with it, and likely will enjoy your time on the planet much more. Most people you come across will be happy to help you out with advice, but dont ask them for stuff, as that is considered bad form

remember... some people spend like, lets say $100.000 for one single auction purchase...

Althought its a very special purchase, it also shows how much people are willing to invest. Now assuming its unfair for us to be able to be just as good as those "rich ppl" or "born traders", you can assume that the prices will be steep on the better products in this universe.

Kinda like real like: The exclusive stuff is for the rich, lucky, are criminal types :)

Thats how i see it.

yea u can put 10$ a month in game... i have put 1k in 3 month :dunce:

10 quid will bring u squat, trust me ;)
This is not the usual on-line MMORPG....it's the best there is....so it is damn expensive too.....this beeing true if u really wanna play it ;)

£10 can go a long way if you are careful. ;)

Would this be a good example of carefull?

10 quid ~ aprox 18$ ~ 170 PED

Supposing you have all the basic equipment you need (I won't name jesters and such here) it could last a while, only for a very-very unskilled person....and the skills go up (they needen't go too much up) and you feel like evolving (dooohhh, RPG style??)....getting a not-so-crappy-weapon and decent equipment...then change mob...and puff....no more PED
Then have another go....another 10 quid....it will go even faster....and so on....so on....god....Lootius....anybody.....can't stop.....depositing...LOL ;)

What I am really saying: Let's not kid ourselves with phrases like "10 quid, sure, it will last for a month"....what do ya say?

$10 a month is possible, but not realistic. From scratch i would consider depositing slightly more for your first month. Consider it what you might pay out for buying the game in the first place.

You decide for yourself how much the game costs.

Play it for a while, and consider if you are gonna stick around for long. If that's the plan, you can invest in nice items, otherwise - just hunt some 10$ for fun.

It's like playing soccer, you can buy a beachball for fun, or a official nike ball for pro streetsoccer. Which way you take, is your call.

(I'm heading for premier league ... )

OK i have played for about a year now and deposited about 100 pounds now I didnt play much over the summer but my last deposit was way back in april (£100 pounds in 5 months, ok its £20 a month but since Aprill I have not deposited instead I have tried to play sensible, I will deposit more but not for a while I still have 50ped left and lots in storage so if you play sensibly you can make it last. I've not made money but ive not really lost any either its swings and roundabouts and with PE when I finish playing I can take my money back out of the game ( or whatever is left :silly2: )

P.s I tried to stick with the £10 a month but once you get involved you tend to think a little more and I could buy this instead :)

Hmm I dont know but for me it seems the more peds I have ingame the quicker Im blowing it away :dunce:

Pfft

Pfft...as much as I like Entropia, but Entropia is simply a money-sucking casino. Only when you deposit will good things happen to you. If not, then you don't get squat unless you can sweat for days on end. I mean don't get me wrong I still play it but about the only thing profitable to do in this game is merchanting anything else is based on odds determined by how much people give and THAT IS A RIP. Despite this I am still hooked but I would suggest that if you don't have hundreds of dollars just sitting around, then you should probably go play Runescape or something weak like that.

wow first post and you moaning already Mr.Elixir

Welcome to EF and the home of moaning ppl that dig up threads that was started nearly 10 months ago! :dunce: :tongue2:

One of my disciples is lvl 1500 in Handgun now, he has deposited a total of 10 dollars.

The only freebe stuff he has recived from me is the tt-gun, 500 ammo, and some broken pixieparts that i had lieing around.. maybe a total value of 10 ped..

So, its totally possible to play the game for 10 dollar / month.
This is if you are prepared to play the game the economic way, instead of the "Hey, im lvl 200 in rifle now, lets buy MK2."

Actually you don't have to depo if you are really reallly and did i say really patient and you are willing enough to sweat non-stop for a long long long long long time....

LOL!@

I refuse to deposit anymore than I did, maybe in the future I will but for now I think it's better if I just sweat and do it the hard way. If I deposit then its like getting all this stuff you didn't work for :p

I'd say $10 usd would last me roughly 5-6 days.

back to sweating

I can easilly blow 10 USD in a few hours, If I feel like it, and then i mean WASTE it and get nothing back. However, when I do that im well aware of what I do..
If I go to the pvp zones where you cant loot people you kill, I can spend 100 USD in a few hours too.. I dont do that very often. Infact, I very rarely spend much money on pvp at all..

However, I have the benefit of knowing that all my ingame assets is profit I made during the time ive played, so if i feel like doing something very uneconomical, I dont need to worry about my creditcard bill..

there are people that use 10$ for a month, and there are people blowing it away, or even more, in a mere 5 seconds. just depends on what you are doing :)

I haven't deposited a cent and been playing happily for about 2 months now. It is slower going if you don't pay at all, but I personally like taking it slow. I tend to get my cash up by performing tasks for other players, mostly trading for other players who don't have the time, and they allow me to skim a bit off the top. Also, when you do have the extra cash, auction hunting for cheap items that can sell for a lot more is a very good way to maske some quick cash.

Finding a good mentor is also nice. My mentor has been the single biggest reason why I can carry on playing without worries, because she essentially gives my items she would normally just chuck into the trade terminal (tt) which I can sell for more, and then I just give her the tt value back.

Good luck whichever way you go.
