In my quest to reveal my knowledge to other miners here is another chapter.
It certainly amazes me the ammount of people that still don't know this because the difference hard to stay unnoticed.
So I will tell you why should a miner use a OreTransformer OT-105
For a start, Weight
The OT-105 weight is 4,0 Kg comparing with the 6,0 of the TT refiner.
Secondly, number of possible uses.
Not a major factor this days with the teleport chips but if you like to save ME and don't carry 2 TT refiners which will increase even more your weight then it is advisable that you use a tool that allows you for more usages before you need to repair it.
The Chikara Mineral Refiner MR100 (TT refiner) has a total TT value of 2 PEDs
up to its 3% value of 0,06 PED, it can be used to refine aprox. 18800 stones (I know even if it was lyst 188 PEDs of it is quite a lot for the starting miner, but this report is intend for the medium miner and above)
The OreTransformer OT-105 has a total TT value of 75 PEDs
up to its 3% value of 2.25, it can be used to refine aprox. 1039000 (much more than need for any miner so it hasn't to be in full TT when you start your mining run).
Third and far most important, the cost of using it.
The cost to refine 3 stone is
0,031 PEC for the Chikara Mineral Refiner MR100
and
0,021 PEC for the OreTransformer OT-105
This difference might seems very slim and pointless to even consider but I'll show you that this isn't the case.
First example:
The current #1 in ATH Mining is Leeloo Leeloo Mountain
and she is using a OreTransformer OT-105 to refine all that Copper
Assuming that she got 987500 stones of Copper [987500*0.16= 158000 PEDs]
Refining it with a
Chikara Mineral Refiner MR100 would cost 102,04 PED
OreTransformer OT-105 would cost 69,12 PED.
Now you may say that you won't ever get so much stones but that isn't true, and you know it.
For a medium miner 10000 PEDs of Lyst isn't that hard to get in a few months, and after you refine such ammount you'll still end up with a tool with less 2 Kg of weight and that you don't need to be concerned that it will get broken in the middle of a nice mining run not allowing you to reduce your weight that all those unrefined stones increase you.
You also ought to remember that once you decide not to be a miner anymore you still will probably sell without loosing value, most likelly depending on the number of times you've use it you shall profit even with a smaller markup)
For the old timer miners like myself that remember that the maximum a refiner could do each time was 150 stones at the cost of 1 PEC here are the
cost to refine 150 stones:
Chikara Mineral Refiner MR100 => 1,55 PEC
OreTransformer OT-105 => 1,05 PEC.
You may try to complain that before we could refine 150 for 1 PEC and now we can't but that isn't true.
The Chikara Mineral Refiner MR400 can refine 150 for 1 PEC, but it is so rare that nobody can even expect to get one for reasonable prices anymore(it were only crafted a few dozens before the sistem changed long ago, the loss of the A204 is the more noticeble example); the disadvantadge is that the weight is 5kg.
And a piece of notice to those who are now think on buying it:
OreTransformer OT-105 is crafted by a level 5 tool blueprint that uses Terrudite, Dunkel and Magerian (& also belk) and the prices of this 3 is still climbing up quickly because they are very rare finds this days.
So if you get a bargain take it.
And since he was probably the person that has made the majority of them I can say that Buzz Erik Lightyear has one for sale in his shop in CND for 294,56 PED (TTvalue= 31,02 TT+ of 263,54) and there is also one in auction at the moment for TT+ of 196.
I hope that this will help you to be more efficient.
