EU - Swimming Olympics

'Entropia Olympics' is an idea we have been looking at for quite some time now, the concept is to run a series of events that wil build up into a full day or weekend event, 'Entropia Olympics', when all parts have been tested & set in place:

Trials Saturday 17th & 25th Feb 2007
- Running to the end of Feb.​

Main Event starts March 2007​

The Event is Free, & the idea is that it is for fun, but also of competitive nature & a league table, based on a points system, it will posted on the page below....

We already have a number of sponcers, & will decide what & how to go about prizes, when the Full Free Fun Event Kicks off in March...

So, over the next few weeks we will be holding 'Entropia Olympic Swimming' Event Trials - this gives everyone time to come see the Space / sign up via this thread & also comment & add ideas to make the event/s work...

The Event:
Swimming race / Competion (which includes a point system).

What do I/You have to do to take part:
Add you name to this thread, we will then add you to the League table list on the 2nd page
Turn up on Saturdays to take part

Winning / Prizes:
Be the best Individual or Society to hold the 1st place
Prizes to be announced, when the event kicks off on Sat. March 3rd

Music / Radio:
Most of our events have special music set up, this adds to the whole feel & ambiance of the event - A new Special Radio set from 4-6pm each Sat will playing for your ears only...

Where:
Starts from PA Mall North Doorway..
The Circuit is from the Doorway, around the combi sweating Island & back.

When:
Every Satarday afternoon 4pm onwards - this we can expand upon for other time zones. February will be trials & sign ups via this thread, names entered to the Leauge page below.

1. Trial - 17th Feb. 4pm (MA)
2. Trial - 25th Feb. 4pm (MA) ('maybe revised to 8pm (MA) we see')
Event Kicks off March 3rd 2007.

Rules:
There aren't any really - this a a Free fun Event
Judges decision is final

Points/League table.
Both Soc's & indivuals will be listed
The point system we are working on & it looks like this just now:

Taking Part = 1 point
Wearing interesting Swimming Clothes = 1 point
Positive chat & funny behaiviur = 1 point
Sweating & picking it up during the race = 1 point
Dieing in the race = 1 point (you cannot re-start if you die)
Finishing = 1 point
1st Place = 6 points
2nd Place = 5 Points
3rd Place = 4 Points
Minor/accidental Cheating = -1 point
Major Cheating = -15 points (includes disqualification from top 3 places)

Ok here are a few of them,,

Lol, forgot I took part in this one...if I recall correctly it was someone in the soc got me to take part in some vain attempt at getting me into underwear, so I swam clothed.

What I do also remember though was that it was pretty much impossible not to cheat, as undercutting anyone in shallow water caused u too accidently end up on foot instead of swimming.

Think u will need a few people out there as "posts" that the contestants need to swim round (These people can also watch out for people delibratly running across land, which at least one person did.)

Either that or just do a straight swim across TI lake or somewhere (as someone suggested at the time, I forget who.)

But anyway, the idea was original, and the concept was fun, so +rep.

My Own Swim Trial

Well, I practiced swimming last night and I think I am ready for the big time! I swam from Camp Caravan to just N. of Minopolis City. That went very well, and without incident so I think I am ready.

What do I do now?

P.S. Coincidentily, just a few days ago, I went for a very long swim looking for a secret island. Unfortunately, I never was able to locate it. But it did give me an opportunity for a bit more practice. So, it's all good...

I tend to agree, I had a late start due to not seeing the GO to start. By the time I realised it was time to Go everyone was way ahead. I still got in front not by leaving the water but by being in shallow water which allowed me to run.

Maybe would be a good a idea to swim a straight stretch rather. With pirañas to make it more fun.

Yes good Points Cat,

Will have some people posted this weekend & for the main Event in March....

The Venue, is good as it means anyone from PA city can Join in & the Island is kind of a funny place to swim around with the crazy Combi's there. People can also view the event from the MAll Balcony - this is also a great place for a Party...

So this week we hope to take over Eps's Penthouse Balcony for a gathering @ 10pm, with a special Olympic Music Set.


Other events are planned for differnt places, we have an Event for TI coming up, so each of the 5 Olympic events will be in differnt places.

Hope to see you on saturday 8pm for the last Trial @ PA Mall Doorway.

Please remember this is a free fun event, anyone can join, simply sign up in this thread & turn up @ the venue.

i would like to vote for another location maybe
during the test race i saw that the water near the island isn't deep enough, and even if you don't want to cheat, you do it accidentially while trying to take the shortest way
