Righty,

I'm altering the application to allow multiple users. I'm also adding the following:

1) Proper timestamps. I've only been recording the date, but if we're having multiple people I'd also like to record the full date and time.

2) Position (x/y). If we have multiple hunting the same mob in different areas it'd be nice to record that. Obviously this wouldn't need to be perfectly accurate per mob - just needs to be filled out once at the start of a hunt.

3) I'll make it so it automatically attempts to track proper item drops. I've been making a note of them manually at the moment, but it'd be quite nice to have it auto detect when new items have been looted - with the option to untick them if it made a mistake!

4) I'll track TT values as well as market values. There's no reason why I can't track both.

5) I'm not going to record peoples actual worth before and after. I don't mind people knowing mine (because I'm poor!), but others might not like it, so I'll take it out. It's irrelevant data as far as I can tell.


Now I just need volunteers who'd be interested in hunting 1000-2000 low level mobs of a certain type and fill out a form every time. Quite regular hunters if possible.

Also suggestions for mob/gear. :)

btw, I had similar results on my feffs iron (-3200 overall loss, so, 3200/16.6 = 192.7 peds per 1000 feffs).
(Aug 2010 - Feb 2011).

Well, it seems there's a very slight bug in my tests, which is frustrating and embarrassing.

The inventory list doesn't appear to always update in real time, which means that not all decay and ammo is taken into account. Some are added to mobs that didn't create it.

New items are added instantly, but it seems ammo and decay are cached for a short while.

This is quite annoying! Wasn't noticeable on the bigger mobs, but I've just started a 1000 merp run and I'm starting to notice it.

I think I'll postpone any more until I find a workaround for this (having a bunch of 1 ammo stacks and dropping one onto the pile after each mob works, but it's far too time consuming).

It's only a few pecs difference, but every pec counts over 1000 mobs. I don't wanna be putting false info out there.

I've had a few people request that I start this up again, so I'm going to restart, but in quite a different format to before.

I will be looking entirely at efficiency on a single mob (argonaut young - adult) for a large amount of mobs (20,000+) and every 200 mobs I will be recording the following:


1) Skill increase (per skill)
2) Fap Decay
3) Plating Decay
4) Armor decay
5) Weapon decay
6) ALL items in loot and their TT value

I would love suggestions as we go along for people to give ideas on how to optimise the set up.

This is a very different approach to my last data sets. My old ones tried to focus on profit/loss and try to gain an idea of which mobs give good markup returns.
This, on the other hand, focuses on optimising for a single mob, getting the loss as low as possible.

Please be aware, I can't deposit much at the moment so I'm limited to what I can try. We'll see how it goes.

It's also worth mentioning that I chipped out around 3 years ago and only within the past 2 months started playing again. I've chipped a few skills back in, but a few (such as evade) I left. Maybe this has a big difference - at some point I hope to be able to chip it back in to see if there's any change in decay costs.

Anyways, I'll post the first 200 set up (in this thread) soon :)

I'd probably like to do a few more runs with the same set up to get a better average.

I can then look into changing the set up. I'm thinking about reducing the fap to something much smaller.
 
So,

admittedly this is a VERY low pool of data to find any real information, but for sakes sake, lets play with some numbers.

-11.68 PED loss (when taking skill gain and MU into consideration)
9.09 PED of that was fap decay
Fap wasn't used as a way to stay alive, it was almost always done between mobs.
Lets assume 'self healing' instead, no fap used between mobs. So we remove that 9.09 PED cost, but we also lose maybe 0.5 PED in the skills gained from fapping.

So we're looking at around 3.09 PED loss for every 200 argos. That's 0.01545 PED loss per mob.

Looking at other peoples argos runs, it looks like there's around 1 global every 550 mobs on average. So every 550 mobs we're looking at a 7.725 PED loss, plus the 50+ ped from the global puts you on 57.725 PED profit over 500 mobs.

Killing 200 mobs took me about an hour, but considering we're going to have to wait for regen when we get too low, lets double that.. no, lets triple that for arguments sake - so we're talking about 57.72 PED profit over every 450 minutes (7.5 hours solid hunting) - assuming all globals are the lowest possible amount (50ped).

So with that in mind, I say that you could afford an ML-35 from 432 days of playing EU, based on you playing 4 hours per evening (killing argos, using power fist, pixie, no fap). Oh, you'd have to chip out too.

Ok, I don't. ;)

I'm just being optimistic based on the limited data and a dream of one day not losing lots of peds!

Other people in the area is a problem. On reasonably high agro mobs like argonaut and considering how much they tend to bunch up, if someone 'sets off' a group you can easily get swarmed, which puts armor/fap decay right up.

Another 200 mobs tonight, then I'll switch the 2600 to a FAP-5 from tomorrow.

also thinking about doing 1000 with no fap, but adding plating.

Back where I expected to be :)

Run 1: I expected. I knew I'd drop a bit for the first one unless I globaled, which was unlikely.
Run 2: There's the global when expected. pushed me back into profit
Run 3: Very unexpected run. Huge loss - 74.91 % TT return was very odd. That was a late night run.
Run 4: Similar to run 1 but the skill increases pushed me into profit (well, profit if you include the price of the gained skils)
Run 5: Was expecting 0-1 globals and got two, which was lucky. Straight back into good profit.

3 globals in 1000 mobs was a tiny bit more than I expected, thought I'd get two. The minimal losses on argos seems to keep my losses right down, so the globals just push me back into profit.

Changing to fap-5 for the next 1000 mobs. I'll be taking the 2600 for emergency faps, but will mostly only use the fap-5, and won't fap during kills.

The next 1000 should be interesting. It'll be interesting to see the fap decay difference for the next 1000 mobs too - and how much it really effects my losses.
