Hi Friends :)

I just found this Press Release by MindArk and I forward it to you, along with an English translation :

Swedish text :

English translation :

" CGit has now been entrusted to deliver a new AI-adapted IT platform to ensure the next step in their development and to meet the market's requirements for capacity, availability and new functions.

We are incredibly proud to also be able to participate in this industry and deliver absolutely world-class IT infrastructure.
We also thank MindArk, and we look forward to long-term cooperation in the future, says Mattias Bergkvist, CEO of CGit AB.
The value of the transaction is SEK 1 million
"

A possible conclusion : along with the new Unreal Engine 5.0 ,
a new Loot System is coming, with an extensive use of Artificial Intelligence in order to challenge -and to reward with a proper loot- any Player.

Considering this, I expect a significantly fairer Loot System.

my brain can not find the connection from AI based IT infrastucture and a new loote system.. i apologize
a sure thing 98.5% return with 5% variance would be my dream of course
p.s.: if this AI would work instead of a "rebalancing team" to add UL and items for crafting based on a "market forecast need" would be even better
reducing useless items in storage and provided needed ones
(AH order and offers and trades are a gold mine to understand the items and their needed supply/demand pattern

Interesting find. Thanks for sharing

Yeah, it's an interesting link that OP posted, but the title is misleading and purposeful bait. Says nothing about it in the article, just guessing on OP's part.

Hi ,

with my title and considerations I just tried to read "among the words" of the Press Release : I hadn't a malicious, "bait" , intention.

An AI driven Loot-system, like Msturlese wrote above, might also consist in :
"If this AI would work instead of a 'rebalancing team' to add UL items and items for crafting, based on a 'market forecast need', this would be even better"

I honestly would be very surprised if CGit would be allowed anywhere near the loot system., I think this is just a mutually beneficial partnership that will end up going nowhere :)

EDIT: CGit being up and coming, and MA with it´s recent PR with the 600k crafting ATH, it is beneficial to both of them to spark some more PR without even doing anything.

A plausible conclusion could be that MA signed a contract for the infrastructure for the new servers that will host the game - being the service that this consulting company offers, be it for small businesses or complex applications that require advanced infrastructure for AI/Deep Learning, but don't let these buzz words fool you, we're far from these technologies coming to our game.

On the other hand, this deal sounds pretty cool, it means things are moving fast there which is nice.

With absolutely zero knowledge of what CGit does, my guess is that they deploy on the fly scaling of server availability that uses AI to predict capacity requirements in advance. "Leaving no server behind" or "Always running to the max" might be suitable mottos, who knows?
Anyway, as I just told someone that even my wild guesses are usually right, I feel in the mood to prove myself wrong just for the hell of it!
I look forward to finding out what they will actually be helping MA with...

Interesting find, thank you for sharing. I, like others, dont quite feel this is the jump to loot 3.0, but certainly if UE5 brings a HUGE influx of players there maybe some changes lined up.

Ma have a lot of side projects, some we know, some not so much like the green fund. It's important as an investor to be aware, but not to jump to conclusions, in my humble opinion :)

'Since 2007, CGit AB has conducted operations in the construction and development of IT infrastructure, which includes e.g. data center, security, management, hosting, networking & communication and backup / DR'

Sounds like they are just swapping over their data center and security to another company.
I don't see this company having anything to do with actual game content or loot systems.

remember when CLDs were going to bring in money to increase advertising and increase player base?

Thanks guys for your useful feedback :

Evey : "A plausible conclusion could be that MA signed a contract for the infrastructure for the new servers that will host the game"

Jetsina : "With absolutely zero knowledge of what CGit does, my guess is that they deploy on the fly scaling of server availability that uses AI to predict capacity requirements in advance, who knows?"

Alainax : "Interesting find, thank you for sharing. I , like others, dont quite feel this is the jump to loot 3.0"

Nick Seventia : "Sounds like they are just swapping over their data center and security to another company.
I don't see this company having anything to do with actual game content or loot systems"

Then I visited their website, www.cgit.se , searching for AI content :

https://www.cgit.se/en/services
"We offer a wide range of consulting services with ranging from disaster recovery, hosting, security services, storage hosting, client management, workplace as a service, to AI-infrastructure as a service, and much more. All of our solutions and services are based in our Swedish data centres, close to our customers"

https://www.cgit.se/en/solutions
"CGit is a supplier that specialises in delivering market-leading solutions for IT infrastructure, including both hardware and software"
"We can help, whether you need [...] specialised infrastructure for AI-Deep Learning [...]"

So it seems that MindArk might use AI either to simply optimize the server-side , OR to create an "intelligent" AI-infrastructure that interferes with the Game dynamics (e.g. loot system).

Or maybe both these 2 options (?)

The value of the transaction is SEK 1 million = approx 100k euro.

Thanks for looking this up a bit more Paul. The hardware for deep learning can benefit from being 'a bit different' ;), so an IT infrastructure specialist service provider looking at this may indeed be able to help with various 'cloudy deep learning' stuff. I would doubt, for the time being, that they are there for your 'OR' scenario tbh, as the loot black box may well belong to Pandora. Working with inputs and outputs, ok, but DO NOT OPEN THE BOX for ANYONE, especially not an AI (or a company specialising in them) ;)

Jetsina about the Loot-System : "as the loot black box may well belong to Pandora. Working with inputs and outputs, ok, but DO NOT OPEN THE BOX for ANYONE, especially not an AI (or a company specialising in them) "

I agree on the fact that involving an External company, when it comes to the Loot-system and its algorithms, requires at least an extreme care : to avoid giving an unacceptable advantage to possible new EU players.

(but I have nothing against the use of AI, especially if it helps in creating a fairer loot-system, including the fact that AI might also be used to discover cheaters)

EDIT- I edited my message, since Jetsina (in her message below) didn't agree on my short Summary of her words.

This is my message before the above Edit :

Jetsina about the Loot-System : "Working with inputs and outputs is Ok , but DO NOT OPEN THE Loot-BOX for ANYONE (including especially external companies) "

my reply : Sure, I agree.

Quotes are supposed to be accurate copies. While it's nice that you agree, and adding 'Loot-' to 'BOX' is arguably an improvement here, your version of the brackets is not! Please don't alter quotes in multiple ways without mentioning this in some way at least...

As a note/question to mods, I would generally like to ask if there is any kind of versioning tool in the background now for people to see, as I sometimes do indeed edit mistakes or phrasing within the first few minutes of posting, but if someone happens to copy the older version, then there is a mismatch. Within 5 minutes or so, the original post does not even indicate it has been edited. Do you mods have any guidelines or things about the setups you can change?
Edit ;): sometimes I make the effort to indicate any editing I do. My additional thought: I very much hope AIs don't start learning to misquote people silently in 'attempts' to make them more understandable... - all good, by the way. Just flagging this up a bit as a topic!

I thought they already were a customer to CGI, and this is just a new contract?

If we now gonna speculate some I would rather think MA thinking of setting up their own serverpark again.

We already have an AI loot system. The algorithm runs on its own without human intervention (at least I hope so).

The aspect that attracted my attention, regarding this AI-related transaction between MindArk and CGit, is that -among all the Press Releases from 2004 to 2021- this is the only one Press Release that hasn't been translated into English, neither partially :
there is only a Swedish text, and not a single English word.

-->So I wonder if this is only a coincidence, or if it means "something more sensible"...

18 June 2021 - CGit tar ny order med sin befintliga kund, Mindark. Värde 1 MSEK

-->At the end, it would be fair if someone from MindArk wrote here to give us some more details about this "AI-anpassad IT plattform" that CGit is preparing for MindArk ( "anpassad" is a Swedish word that in English means "adapted", "adapted for" : https://en.bab.la/dictionary/swedish-english/anpassad ), especially if this AI is really merely used to "optimize the Game-servers" , and not for something more advanced \"secret".

Thanks ,

Paul
