Another Session of SPce Flaming and B*@ching !

Just a load of nincompoopery. In line with the last three words of the title of this thread.

Now that's an awesome word!! NINCOMPOOPERY!!!! This should be stickied asap!! :yay:Or at least added to the dictionary!! :beerchug:

Yes when space started ppl did not know about the log off feature that MA had with MS so of course they stayed logged on because no one really chased after the MS due to their si and ability to improve the SI. But like all fair tails they are short lived times. And things are evolving like an active Pirate soc has a MS and is actively using it now.

When space was new Rockstars were highly active as pirate soc with mothership Revenge having more SI then any other mothership in space and they also had access to an upgraded privateer.
When space was new quads were able to attack motherships from outside the visible range.
When space was new most motherships had just about 2-4k SI and got killed by pirates all the time.
When space was new it was necessary to have a large escort team in place scouting infront, behind and around the ship to make sure no pirate quad would get the opportunity to attack unnoticed and would either die before opening up fire or atleast therteafter.
When space was new it was all about sneaking out of bluezone and extreme flightroutes going for the least traveled path to another planet.
When space was new there was no warp speed and pirate quads were able to cross interplanetary distances quickly to find together.

We certainly had alot of improvements to space already and it all got a whole lot more fluffy :)

Ahhhhh I remember those times! And space was a different colour too! Was harder before that pic also, when quads had no triangles, so you had to have a really good eye to see them incoming.

We should really do a space nostalgia thread :) seems so much has been forgotten, or that new space people never knew.

Would be really great to see everyones pics from the bad old days!

This thread seems to have spiralled somewhat into what I expected. After what seemed like an explosive reaction just to the name, some intellegent discussion did ensue. It is a shame that we don't seem to be able to stay on track with a mature discussion. At one point I felt this thread had taken a surprinsing turn where everyone was be considerate of each others views and even respectful of them.

It is perfectly fine to have different views and opinion of how things are and how they should be, or could be. I do find it disheartening when the new found comradirie and understanding spoken of early in the seems to have been forgotten somewhat. What does one really expect .......

An attmept to try and keep things a little more on track.
Earlier in this thread I discussed how I believed that "Individual Planets Economies" would ont be reliant on materials transported from one Planet to another to be sold at hgue markups. But rather, that "Economic Stability" will most likely be bought about more by the production and sales of items like the Rocktropian D-class Mining Amp and some of the Arkadian Herman Series Weapons. I don't believe these items really need anything imported for their production, yet there is high demand for their production and export to Calypso (the current Trade Capital of the Entropia Universe) for sales there.

I have no doubt that even though the majority of these items are currently sold on Calypso, they also get taken to other Planets to be used. Some even travelling back to theeir Planet of origin, regardless of whether they are produced there or on Calypso. I look forward to seeing what new and exciting items will come into play to help build and stabilise these growing economies. As more of these kinds of things come into production the need for "Transporting Stackable Goods" through Space will become reduced.

From a "Transprt Operators" point of view, at first this may seem daunting and negative to that service. With an expansion on the sixe of Space, createing a much greater distance and longer travel period in smaller ships a balancing effect can be found. This of course is purely assumption. The most exciteing thing I see in the "2013 Road Map" is the possibility of "Space Mining"

When I first saw this my mind ran wild with imaginations of Motherships and Privateers heading out to the existing Aateroids for a day of mining. Imagining that upon arrival at these Asteroids, small mining craft heading out to search for mnerals and enmatts amongst these Ateroids. With Quads and Privateers patroling the area, ever watcful for Pirates that may show up at any time. Imagine the mad scurry once the Pirates show up and Mining Vessels heading madly to the safety of their Mothership and the Quads and Privatyeers fending of the Pirates as best they can.

But alas, this is only imaginings and assumptions of what may come with "Space Mining".
Only time will give us the true intentions of MindArk and all we can do is hope that eventually, they get it right.

In that case maybe you would have been better suited to start one without such a dramatic title and a little more seriousness and to the point.Levity is needed if you were just having a bad day and wanted to vent. I am sure a more serious "Space " discussion could ensue and continue if that was intent.

In order to make an upgrade to 500k SI financially feasible I would expect such a ship to generate around 800-1000 PED profit a week at least. Because I would get as much if I would invest same amount in CLDs. Simple.[SUP]*[/SUP]

Now ask yourself... What would make any ship bring so much profit (after expenses) a week? Hmm anyone? Please share with ideas - maybe we can approach the problem from this side in a more creative way.

[SUP]*[/SUP] - just a quick math, not exact numbers. 500k SI requires roughly 250k PED of TT Gold Ingots inserted by a highly skilled Vehicle Structural Engineer (if s/he is lucky).

Quite honestly even with same ROI as CLD this would be a very bad investment as the time required to run a service cannot be justified. I would rather sit tight on the CLD's instead :)

My primary concerns have never been about what it may or may not cost me or what am I going to get out of owning a Mothership. In fact they have always been more about what can I do with the Bismarck to help the Entropia Community Grow and increase its Participant Base. It is my belief, that with these improvements and growths my returns will also increase and improve. With such investments as this, the ROI is not always about the immediate return on the investment.

I think we will get to 500k SI over time either way :)
Noone could do it in one step anyways since gold mu would start skyrocketing already if someone went for a straight 50k SI upgrade.
Now imagine 500k target for more then one ship owner and you will find miners horting their gold in hope of the big gold rush ;)

FYI: I have 178 ped tt gold on caly auciton :).

And, as to Kri's post, 1k profit a week is very easy... it just requires two tweaks: When people VIP warp: instead of charging a flat 30 ped, just charge each passenger 30 ped. (I'd probably do this once in a while when emergencies arise), and also, throw away scheduled flight prices and just charge people VIP price. (people would be forced to comply unless MSes start undercutting each other... which is likely to happen :)).

I'm not saying anyone should do this :p, because it would be horrible for us miners... but just putting it out there.
