CalypsoForum Dollars (aka CFD) is the "currency" of PlanetCalypsoForum.
Members earn CFDs through various forum activities (explained below), and can use accumulated CFDs to purchase items in the CFD Shop, donate to friends, and more.
The exact formula for the awarding of CFDs varies in many ways, depending on the forum in which a thread or post is created, length and rating of the thread, and several other factors. The best way to earn CFDs is to be an active and regularly contributing member of the forum, and by creating interesting and popular threads in the proper forums. Moderators and admins will also regularly award CFDs to members who exhibit exceptional contrbutions to the PCF community.
As a security measure against abuse (aka CFD whoring), there are daily earning maximums in place for each type of forum action that awards CFDs. Once one of these maximums is reached for a particular forum action, no further CFDs will be awarded for that action until the oldest action of that type happened at least 24 hours earlier. As such, do not be alarmed if you notice some of your forum actions do not result in CFD earnings if you have been extremely active during the preceding 24 hours.
Your current CFD balance can be viewed on the CFD Transaction History page, along with a log of recent CFD earnings and transactions.
The CFD system is in place to reward members for their contributions to the PCF community, and to enhance the user experience on PCF. We plan to continually refine and expand the CFD system and items available for purchase. We hope you enjoy the CFD system, and welcome any suggestions for improvements in this thread.

How to Earn CFDs
- Daily Visit - Visiting the forum each day while logged in to your account is rewarded with a small amount of CFDs.
- Creating new threads - Every time you create a thread, you receive CFDs; the amount awarded for a new thread varies depending on the forum or suforum where the thread is posted. In order to encourage members to post new threads in the proper forum or subforum, any threads or posts made in the General Discussion forum earn no CFDs. Similarly, the trading and off-topic forums do not award CFDs. You receive additional CFDs for creating a poll within your thread.
- Replying to threads - You receive CFDs by posting replies to other members' threads
- Replies to your threads - You receive CFDs every time another member responds to a thread you have created.
- Views of your threads - You also receive a small amount of CFDs each time a logged-in member views a thread you have created (once per 24 hours, so repeatedly refreshing pages to unfairly earn CFDs will not work).
- Polls - Creating a poll, along with voting in other members' polls is rewarded with CFDs.
- Rating Threads - Rating another member's thread is rewarded with a small amount of CFDs. Similarly, having a thread you have created rated by other members helps to earn CFDs.

Where to spend CFDs
- CFD Shop - The CFD Shop offers many ways to spend your hard earned CFDs: Custom user titles, colored and styled usernames and titles, icons of Calypso items and Unlocked Skills that appear near a member's avatar in threads etc. All of the items in the CFD Shop may also be purchased for other members as gifts.
- Donations - You can donate CFDs to friends or members who have impressed you with their postings or contrubutions to the community. Donations can made by clicking the CFD link in the top navigation bar, and then clicking the Change link to enter the name of the donation recipient. Enter the amount of CFD you would like to send, an optional note that will be visible to the recipient, then click the submit button. A private message will automatically be sent to the recipient to notify them of the donation.
- CFD Auctions - Purchase EU items from other members using CFDs.
