Help: Client loader keeps on crashing, Launch button greyed out

So I just recalled this game exists and checked my account and apparently there is a minor fortune locked in. However, once I decided to download the game, shit hits the fan.

First the client loader kept on crashing. Tried compability mode and running as an administrator but nothing worked. I reinstalled and it worked. However, once calypso was downloaded, the launch button was still grey. Support told me to download all planets and try again (even though it shouldn't be necessary) so I downloaded all the calypso related data but no luck.

Uninstalled, reinstalled. Back to client loader crashing.

Any suggestions or ideas besides reinstalling again?

hello.,
Troubleshooting only from a post without specs/details which pc , OS etc is near impossible.....even with all that its not easy.

if you have a laptop or desktop ,-> if its a laptop some have 2 "different" graphic cards which have to be selected

1) check if you have installed all drivers of your pc , maybe disable some things which arent "needed" for this
for example one player couldnt start and stay ingame some weeks ago becaus of his soundcard....

2) in client loader under tools you have a repair option (verify local data) , try also to check " start in safe mode",deactivate sound and all other things , just to see if the game starts then

3)Entropia uses also some older Microsoft visual C Libraries ( i think its the 2015 er version) -> you have them installed ?-> if not then try other things first and do this as last option
.),turn your graphics lower and check also if the game starts (you can upscale step by step later , its just to find the issue)

4) if it starts and you get a disconnect fast, then you can do other things also(like in loader check the 56kb option), need to be worked on step by step to find a solution

Tell us what you did exactly and how it is now, check also your windows logs, maybe you have an error line there too

Check the antivirus, could be blocking it. The info should be in the antivirus journal if yours has one.
 
So I left it to download all the planet data and it got stuck on Secret Island. It downloads a bit, then checks for updates and then restarts the download. I put it last in the priority list now.

I have also made exceptions for all the EU related applications in my firewall and my antivirus is currently disabled.

Drivers are up to date and I can't repair the installation until all the planet data is downloaded.

The network I am on right now has some sites disabled (porn & gambling for instance), could that be the issue? I'll try sharing internet from my phone as soon as everything is downloaded.
 
Who disables porn and gambling? What else is there on the internet these days?! :laugh:

Switching connection and reparing didn't work...

MAs support is still awesome...........
 
You cant use a VPN.

I had similair issues in the past where the DL of a planet wouldn't finish. For me the problem ended up having multiple version histories of the updates in the EU folder.
 
hard work there...

other things you can do is

1) DIsable the download of secret island
2) put lan on the cable if possible
3) check https://account.entropiauniverse.com/support-faq/technical-issues-1/start-login-connection-fa/
for example i had a "strict firewall and got login and connection problems until i switched connection to 56kb in loader AND
open the ports (give my pc a fixed ip, put lan on cable, open ports in firewall )
3) disable any vpn or virtual network drivers if any are there
4) when you click the entropia universe icon, do you see the text at the start too ?
+ then when you click accept and the loader appears, can you see the texts on the other tabs there ? (support news, expiring auction items etc)

This is odd. I have it not always, but quite often that the client loader keeps hanging upon downloading and installing an update, but after various times of restarts and at various levels of blood pressure, it always completed.

I also find it odd that support directs you to download all planets. If that ever had anything to do with client loader stability problems, it is a bug which needs attention.

I would trace it back this way: When you do a new Windows installation, is there anything you do afterwards that deviates from its "recommended" setup? What additional drivers and services do you install that interfere with basic systems, such as the network? I know I hate it enough to deactivate as much as I can all the stuff it does in the background which I don't want it to do, and when even that isn't enough to thwart it I install something which does (such as a program called "auto kill any process"). Sometimes it happens that I shoot once too many and have to roll back, it's trial and error until I get things to a point I find tolerable and the stuff I need is working. Also, as others have stated, VPN is a prime suspect. In fact it is explicitly ruled out with Entropia for reasons of fraud prevention.

restart the client like 2 or 3 times. this happens to me some times idk how you went straight to uninstalling and reinstalling...
