Hi everyone,
For quite some time now OLA-05 has been sitting idle as a mining area that has 4 inactive Longu DNA on it.

A couple of small tests over the years didn't demonstrate much interest in Longu and there are plenty of other Land Areas and general spawns to meet the community’s needs.

Since the area makes for a rather terrible mining area (there isn't a whole lot on it of note) I'd like to hear the communities’ thoughts on what to do with the area so that it might contribute, or at least potentially contribute, more to Planet Calypso than it currently does.

There are 4 general options that I can see, however feel free to suggest your own.

Option A: Leave the area as is.
Option B: Activate at least one Longu DNA to create a spawn of use to the community.
Option C: Add a new, different, DNA and activate it.
Option D: Sell it.

Bye,
Deathifier

Big Exarosaur, pretty please :yay:

(Yeah, yeah, I know those may not be worth their cost in fertilizer :silly2: but there really hasn't been any good spawn since the old Exa LA was shut down :()

Not to sure how this will be recieved by the community, but I've wanted a good spot to hunt large (Prowler/Stalker) Bery's for a long time, throw in the longu (young/guardian) and maybe another mid range mob, for some variety and you have an area I would visit when I dont wanna waste ped on aurli/rex's/levi or such. Bothj mobs can drop good items, just not hunted alot. The one area I know of to hunt large bery's has mid to large foul around it, but never really been a fan of foul. Just my 2 cents.

I agree. Big Exarosaurs would be nice. There are plenty of places to hunt Longus already.

I'd like to see a small merp max density LA again. The previous LA got turned into osce paradise. :D

Although, I would like to stab some exa stalkers hehe

merp is most likely hardest needed considering excisting spawn

I most agree with the above posts.

One of my disciples wanted to hunt them the other day but actually none LA have them and the untaxed spawns for low maturity is inexistent.

Even myself still on the 5k stage for merp iron challenge but how can I progress with actual spawns?

If you want to do something to increase mob diversity, there are quite a few of the DNA from Mayhem prizes that haven't been used yet. I know Star has some and was wanting to sell, and there must be a few more kicking around somewhere.

They aren't the most exciting mobs in the world and aren't likely to generate a lot of income, but I know for you that's not necessarily the priority.

Any landowner could put in Merp and Exas, and I'm sure someone will at some point, probably to abandon them after a month because no-one hunts them, as usually happens. If you're going to put in unprofitable DNA, at least make it something that isn't ten-a-penny.

That said, I know a lot of people would appreciate the opportunity to work on the Merp missions so perhaps you could make a Merp LA temporarily before changing it to something more interesting at a later date.

Max density neconu young :D

Would like to see a Merp land too.

edit: yes, big merps or at least old+

Big Merps gets my vote so it gets possible to do the bronze mission.

Pure longu prowler/stalker would rock, I tried in vain the other day to find a good clean spawn of prowler/stalker longu to stake out.

I too really miss the low maturity high density merp spawns.
I always received the best skill gains vs ped spent on merps.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

I'm not sure that the smaller creatures (Exarosaur, Merp, Bery, etc) would suit OLA-05 as it's a fair distance to travel and with only 2 free DNA slots there'd be no options to beef the spawn up even more should it be really popular.

These kinds of creatures are better suited to other areas, maybe even including TI once MA clears the mountains out of the way.

As for Longu I'm surprised that there's difficulty finding existing spawns.
I will double check the known locations and if it is true that there are gaps in the Longu spawns I may turn on a single DNA to fill it and see how it goes.

Other DNA, including buying specialist DNA like Oleg mentioned, are an option however I'd prefer to use something I already have as I'm not currently keen on buying more DNA only to have its properties changed and trashed like I've experienced repeatedly in the past.

Of course I haven't shared what I do have yet, which kind of makes that discussion difficult.

I'll think on things a bit more, thanks everyone :)

Thanks to Nighthawk I found the pure prowler/stalker Longu spawn @ 81050, 77400 so nvm ;)

Have this thread deleted.

Create another thread praising how great the OLA is.

Sell it.

Not knowing what DNA you can choose from, we can only offer thoughts on how to narrow down the best options for that LA.

Yeah that's a bit of a funky place for exo, berries, etc. Not n00b friendly at all. Although many vets say they'd hunt them as well, they'd get bored within a month and move on. No long term hunting prospects in that vain.

On the other hand, if you have a DNA of something that's:
  • Not found in more than say 2 crap spawns
  • Show no real global activity on EntropiaLife
  • Is perhaps high mid-ish level
  • Can allow a nice option for a wide selection of hunters over the next 2 years

then I'd say those are the DNAs you should look into.
