ComPet Bulletin #1

I think it's incredible important these pets feel real, it needs to be taken to a whole new level. Even though EU mobs realistic, I don't think that's enough for a pet game. You want to almost feel your pet breathing, with tired animation with it tongue panting or something like that after a fight. With some real cool fighting actions.

You can do this MA, really push it to your creative limits, this can be awesome if delivered right.

I don't know what's possible for browser games or demands on systems, although I'm sure there's cross pet development for what's going into EU main game as well as Compet (even if different software language).

It does worry me a bit with links to EU, as people mindsets of selling things for unbelievable amounts of money is more likely to happen in a completely different market. We will have to wait and see I guess.

Pet interaction is going to be important for attachment, not just giving it some instructions to fight. I think people will genuinely want to love their pets. So you need feedback from it out of the ring. Almost like a real life dog, you got build a relationship with it, feel like you can really respond with it.

If you can do that, I think you got a winner.

Anyway gone on enough for now

Cheers

Rick

Tamagotchi + Pokémon = ComPet?! == WIN! ??!

This is just going to be so bad..

Just putting this here so I can mark my words in future.

I do not understand why they keep trying to expand when they have no fully sorted the main product.

Word. :wise:

To clarify:
I welcome that there will be connections between EU and ComPet.
I welcome that MA have brought out some more information.

What I hate is the marketing style, the contradictions with other 'information', MA's ability to phrase a sentence really well in a sort of legalese when they want to, but be sloppy and vague much more of the time.

So, MA are proud that they have sold over 5% of the deeds already? Any projections on how long it will take to sell the rest or will a 'big investor' come in again to buy up 75% or so at ...... maybe the beginning of December?

Also, for the second time at least we have hints of a 'home': "ComPet points can be obtained through lots of dedication to the game, and used to upgrade your pets or home as an alternative to using PED..." Maybe pets won't be 'lost' in battle then, just peds or points. Otherwise having a home environment for pets would clash with them fighting to the death..... That would lower the numbers of pets required, however... (sorry for thinking practically!)

Anyway:
"More details on the interaction between the Entropia Universe taming and stable systems and ComPet will be announced in the near future."

Do you have at least two people or groups who write your announcements, MA? I have the feeling you do, so please bang their heads together for next time and keep things consistent please!

whip

No of course not.

It might seem counter intuitive but the more they fall, the more I'll make as a trader.. My concern is for long term balance and whips seem like the obvious replacement item. With this news about whips there will no doubt be many people looking to buy and/or loot whips so they can skill and get ready.

The highest DPS unlimited whip does 6.9 DPS

Selling whip :-D

We should start introducing some better whips right now then because the existing ones mostly suck and will only be good for low level mobs.

There is always team taming that was good for a laugh.

Wish them luck but I see no future with it, perhaps a negative investment, thankfully for MA, players took most of the risk.

I think I would have serious issues if a browser game was attached to account security in EU. So here is hoping they keep it seperated.

There is a reason for aps that are specific to devices, and why browser game companies like zynga has been losing millions (they lose money every quarter, and have lost 18% in value over the last 3 months ).

You will only create a bottleneck and more complaints. Go search any zynga game and lag. This company has 4 times the server power of MA and still struggle with the delivery, which is largely fed by Facebook traffic. Which we do not have even .005% of that traffic.

You guys are jumping onto the bandwagon that is about to go bust, browser games are subpar, people know it, and its starting to show.

It will certainly be exciting when it all happens, whether it lasts past a month I am unsure.

Well, within EU people will be taming in anticipation for a while I expect. The lifetime is an extremely important issue, though, and MA has so many areas/activities which I DO think are fairly nice, but due to many factors they have VERY few people there and could be considered to be dead in the water at the moment.

As a bit of fun, and it is about a 'battle', here is a link to my favourite "The Voice" battle of all time:
The singing starts at 3:15 or so
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LVFFdFfLto

It has also not had so many views when considering how great it is..... even great things can go unnoticed in the wider world....

you have to give MA credits for audacity if nothing else, getting the participants in the old game where they failed to produce a coherent vision to pay them to make the move to mobile free to play takes a special kind of "genius".

Thank you very much Bertha Bot for this information! Thank you MindArk.

I like the way you are (re)introducing taming. I like your diversification strategy and I support it.

Well that was an unexpected bonus :yay:

Communication and development roadmap
In this stage it is planned to implement additional skill-based taming abilities which will expand the capabilities of tamed creatures beyond the pre-VU10 taming system. In addition, a limited number of stables will be made available that will fulfill various roles within the taming system such as stabling, feeding, expert training, trading and more.

well not really unexpected

It was for us, maybe we didn't read between the lines enough. Didn't expect the trading to be outside of the universe :)

I think bad deeds dont exist. It was a w.i.p. name. Bad deeds=compet deeds

Why has no-one commented on the most important clarification which is missing?

How are players going to pay to play through a browser, how are they going to withdraw any winnings?

And how will this look different from an online poker site?

They will probably have to register an entropia universe account. And pay to play and withdraw like we pay to play and withdraw.

They said one million 'worth' of deeds sold so that's 50% of 2 million dollars total.

Actually I found it quite funny the sale. I think it went something like this:

"Let's build a game with fighting pets for browser mobile a tablet, we might as well as building fighting pets already for EU already"
"How's this new browser game going to work then?"
"Don't know yet, but an idea has value, so let's see if we can sell an 'idea'. "
"Brilliant plan, what do you think it's worth?"
Well Ark UG is going for 200K total deeds, lets pitch it at that level (200K deeds), but double the price of each deed and raise twice the cash"
"What do we tell the player base?"
"Give them 30% of it, they will lap it up, on $2m purchase, that's a good deal to be fair"
"What about the mobile thing?"
"well we thought about that, and I think it's going to be a pain the apple thing, lets go with browser for all, less costs to build...it's perfect solution".
"what about game details?"
"We have fighting pet's that's the game"
"No...the real detail, what does the game look like, is there going to be avatars as well or what?"
" Let's see how it sells, then we can put tons more thought in the creative side...just pitch the thing"
"ok we pitched it, some like it some hate it"
"Just like real life then, ok you got the money, start building the thing"
"Actually we got a ton more cash than we thought pretty fast, maybe we ought to take this more seriously?"
"I think you're right, we've hit on something good here, ok let's do it, build something amazing...we will show them how good we are"
"that's the spirit, issue an update"
"ps: Had a second thought on stables, let them sell the pets, as running full auction on browser is going to eat up to much resources"
"ok boss, lucky stable owners"
"yep....smiles"
"do we know what we're doing?"
"It's all new, nobody really know what they are doing"
"we are selling ideas like we've always done"
"all good then"
"seems so"

LOL

One million peds.. not dollars.

Withdrawal minimum 1k Ped and takes over 40 days? You are joking.

The original description of ComPet sounded a lot like gambling. Is this the case?
ComPet will be a skill-based game with some random elements included for balancing and entertainment value, very much similar to Entropia Universe.

By skill you mean avatar / pet skill and not real life player real life skills with the fingers :scratch2:

Will the ComPet app be available for iOS and Android devices?
The ComPet app will be offered as a standalone browser-based HTML5 application. This means it can be accessed from any platform or mobile device that has a modern web browser.

This is going to make ComPet Fail. People with smartphones/tablets (everyone i know), doesnt play games on a browser, it is all through Google Play Store or Apples equivalent.

If you DONT do this MA, it will fail!!!!

Rgds

It won't. Any mentions of withdrawal process length were removed from EULA/ToU a while back, so now it may proceed for as long as MA sees fit :)

Not that it matters, but I initiated a withdraw 2 days ago via the ingame interface and it said '40 days.' However, the confirmation email said '50 days.'

They forgot to edit it there, and later forgot to remove, but now that you've reminded them... :D

i dont think there is the possibility to withdraw.. its just pay to win like most of the browser/app games if u could withdraw it sure would be one online casino game

im really anxious to see what they will pull out of their ass this time

Perhaps you should re-read this post?

In any battle, trainers can win real cash prizes. If players play for free they can win special pet upgrades and points; if played for PED (Project Entropia Dollars), they can win more PED, which can be exchanged for real cash.

Does this new project mean that MindArk’s development priorities have shifted away from Entropia Universe?
MindArk’s vision for Entropia Universe has always been about making the universe deeper and broader, with a variety of experiences and features available for participants of all interests. MindArk wishes to expand the RCE universe to improve the user experience while also creating more opportunities for participants to invest and earn profits. Introducing ComPet as a standalone game and connecting parts of it with Entropia Universe accomplishes both of those goals.
That being said, rest assured that MindArk will continue to develop the core Entropia Universe platform and content as it has done for over 10 years. Development of Entropia Universe will not be negatively affected in any way by the ComPet project.

We feel abit 'left alone' when support case answer is that they cant do anything and we shall watch out for a management/planet partner announcement and said announcements are just nowhere to be found.

Better communication was promised mid of last year and stopped pretty much 1-2 month after the announcement again like happened several times before.

Why can planet partner calypso not follow arkadias initiative and at least have one official avatar present at major events and on a weekly base for player questions & answers ?

Having to contact arkadia official avatars to give feedback about calypso events going wrong shouldnt be the way to go and yet it was the only way possible during last event.
