Hi guys,

Many times we get people saying how other companies would do it better, that MindArk is incompetent etc.
I agree many times that MA has a lot of flaws, but people need to understand that it is not easy to create a functional RCE game.
There were people that did try / are still trying and so far NOTHING.

Heres a list:

Afterworld / Afterworld Survival
Started: 2008
Ended: 2016
Comment: Game survived for many years, but never really took off.

Project ION
Started: 2012
Ended: Still Online
Comment: More of a fun project, no withdrawals so not a fully RCE game and most likely never will be.

AfterTime Diaries
Started: 2016
Ended: 2017
Comment: There were never any open tests of this, so sadly it ended as fast as it started.

VirtuVerse
Started: 2020
Ended: Still Online
Comment: Game started in Unreal 4, and now is being remade into Unreal 5. There are functional test servers for backers. Game is still being developed and in alpha stage. No withdrawals yet.

These are just those that tried, there were many who had thoughts. Its just not as simple as it looks. Requires lots of work and dedication.
It looks like the last one has potential, but wouldnt hold my breath and who knows if it will ever reach RCE status :)

After 20 Years Mindark STILL does not have competition in MMO RCE market.

I hope someone finds this interesting :)

Can you imagine if MA put some love into space and pvp then they would shine for another 20 :)

I imagine they may be keen on space if they were still stand alone but since they have PP's they have them to appease i.e. the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. So I think it's more complex than it first appears...

No withdrawals for Virtuverse. None of these will take off without it.

I give Mindark a lot of criticism because they can do better; a LOT better. I'd even work for them and help them (my skills are vast). But they stay their own enemy, holding themselves back. One thing I will give them is that they managed to keep the game running amongst all the pitfalls that are possible with bad actors in an RCE. We may have to deal with 3 months to withdrawal, but at least we are able to.

my heart hurts when I see all the other competitors who died so yearly stage.:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

I hold a deep aversion towards negativity, recognizing, however, that most who complain do so because they care just enough to say something.

Second Life. Not the same kind of beast since it's a 3D www where users create content and not a game developed by a central design team. But it does have RCE and the difference in withdrawal procedures I've belaboured at least a dozen times already. I never said MA is incompetent, but in some aspects mystifying. And that's not ideal from an investment viewpoint. (I challenge anyone who disagrees to explain the difference between investment and speculation.)

Afterworld / Afterworld Survival
This was a cool experiment back then. I tried it with some friends, some stayed longer, some left shortly after trying it, it was a matter of how long you could ignore the fact that it's a copy. Same goes for the rest of the attempts, they lost from the start because they started as a copy of some sorts and players always turned back to the original. But I liked afterworld, didn't have interest in the others.

MindArk points out in their financials that the only competition they think they have is Star Atlas which I believe is doing what MindArk wanted to do with Entropia Universe but their own greed overshadowed the product they were delivering.

Tried ION to get away from EU, did not like it 1 bit, as much as I wanted to get away from EU I came back crawling. Truth is, EU is unique, casino or not its still my favourite. 🥰

Second Life definitely does withdrawals right. Straight to your PayPal account in a couple of days. I wish it was more of a game than what it is.
