Cool :) Since we really really missed some commentary standing in the controlroom having no clue who was in the lead etc, so will be nice to get a playback :) From what i heard all 3 rounds ended up pretty close? Looked that way from globals atleast ;)

Yup, "close" would be an understatement! :)

Was very well plaid out!!!

Match #1 Avery won
Match #2 Star won

Final match was won by maybe 50 peds difference with Avery in the lead!!! Was a VERY tight win, and both were in top form and from the looks on their faces while ending the match they were both fighting for the win!!!! In the last 10 mins of the competition both Avery and Star switched places for first place at least 3-4 times... that shows how close it really was!!! :)

NOTE: I originally posted this in the official event thread, but since this is also getting a lot of action, here's my account of the contest.


:yay:Wow-ie-wow!!! What a GREAT competition. I wish everyone would have been able to watch it. It was amazing! The 2 were participating on systems set with huge side-by-side monitors mounted above so we could all watch the action on both sides. :wtg:

The fight was best 2 out of 3 rounds. 30 minute most total loot wins. (Not highest global as some thought)

Round 1
Avery: Dome 20 (I believe) Cornoanterion/Trox
Star: Dome 18 Cornoanterion/Argo

Before the match, Star herded practically the entire dome of mobs over to a corner (Seeing tons of argo warriors/leaders and corns on him as he's running around and not dying was :jawdrop:)

Just before it started, both contestants were softening a lot of mobs. Almost immediately, Avery scored multiple globals, including a 400 pedder. Star rocked on with vicious kill speed, but it just wasn't enough. Avery's lead held throughout.

Round 1 Winner: Avery (Now if Avery wins round 2. It's all over)

20 minute break and then

Round 2
Both hit Dome 12 (Neconu)

Loot was rather poor, but Avery took an early lead. There was a point where both ended up on each others radar, but there were enough mobs that they were able to go their separate ways. No kill stealing occurred. It was almost like they mutually agreed to quietly go their separate ways and duke it out in private.

But the mobs started getting thin. So Star hopped into the tp and jumped over to the other side of the dome.

The move worked. Star found enough mobs to push his loot into the lead.

Round 2 Winner: Star

20 minute break and then

Round 3
Avery: Dome 6 Caperon
Star: Dome 9 Big Atrax

This is it. Whoever wins this one is the champion and winner of the LA.

Star's going for quick kills, and Avery goes for the mob that he'll kill less of, but drops larger loot on average.

Before the round, Avery chomped a few minor skill chips. Some believe loot's better after eating chips, and Avery, looking for any little edge gave it a try. (He later admitted they did no good, since the Caps loot was actually sub-par)

Round 3 begins, and once again, a quick 2 globals give Avery the lead. Both contestants fighting hard, loot was pretty stale for both of them.

CRIT: Star's dead! :eek: This cost Star some time, reviving and getting back to the herds.

But never one to give up, Star takes over the lead. The quick dying atrax are looting enough to push him into 1st place.

Global! Avery takes the lead again.

Star takes the lead AGAIN!

With 3 minutes left, Avery sneaks back into the lead and despite another global from Star...

Winner, MMOWC champion and new land owner is Avery.

It was very exciting to watch. I doubt there was 50 peds difference between their loot at the end of round 3.

Judging from his actions during the next hour after winning, Avery's in shock. I don't think the reality of what happened has hit him yet. He has a permanent grin on his face, but his answers to questions indicate he's still trying to soak it in.

And Star? This is the 2nd land area he's just missed winning in less than 2 months. So how did he take it?

He quietly logged onto a more private computer and began :handgun: Dasps.

Congrats to Avery. Best wishes to Star in the future.

The whole CES. Meeting everyone. The amount of interest the customers had in the game. The contest. The parties.

It was ALL a blast, and this contest could not have capped the ending better.
