Contests: Anonymous or not?

A general question:

What would you prefer when entering or voting in a contest?

1. The participants are posting their contest contributions themselves or
2. the contributions are posted by the person doing the contest to grant a fair voting (because the participants are not jet disclosed).

The creators of the contributions would be revealed afterwards.

Maybe it could happen that someone gets more voted than others because the person is better known? By anonymous presentation of contribution this could be avoided.

you are right at that. its sad to see what the brown-nosers are able to do. indeed, anonymity is the only way to keep it fair
