CP sale press coverage

If one of us were inclined, we could write up some ezine articles and submit them to the right websites, from there blogs and websites all over the world would take that article and paste it on their website. There is no shortage of blogs and websites that do that kind of thing and many of them have lots of subscribers. They are allowed to take the content and paste it on their own websites as long as they don’t change anything and as long as they keep all links that the author included in the article.

If FPC wants, I could write up some things and submit them. It’s an interesting form of viral marketing.

Yep, and when the official press release is published we suggest our local newspapers to report on it.

So Crystal Palace is also in Disney World. and Buzz lightyear is the owner..... And crystal palace is also a Casino.... and something about Football...

This is all very confusing.

I wonder why I dont read any articles starting with " hi Jack , I got magical beans for ya!"
Good digging everyone lol better than old golddigger here....

I can only find chinese articles about how bad things were in 2008 and none will come here lol.

Anyone get lucky?

The Huffington Post picked up the story, they are a VERY serious and high profile blog/news website in the US. Some very affluent people will read about EU :)

I made a post in the comment section of their site. If you have something positive to say please leave a comment. All comments are moderated so be professional if you want them to take you seriously and show your comment.

Its a pure numbers game... some will and some wont. By my estimates, about 1000 people are joining per day because of the news from the CP sale.

When the story hits the big news companies then there will really be a flood of new people, just like the CND sale.

For sure, we can only hope that a majority are optimistic and whiners.

Over 130 news results in a google news search for the term "Buzz Erik Lightyear"

No and the momenetum with new news companies picking up the story seems to be slowing down. FPC needs to do something to renew interest in the CP story.

Marco: Can we PLEASE open up Dome 5?
MA CEO: No.
Marco: But it'll bring in more media!
MA CEO: I'll think about it.

How it'll bring in more media is that it has a new mob DNA in it already! :O

Well I've been waiting all week for BBC to cover the sale of CP, yet they haven't.

I think I said earlier on the thread that it was their coverage of TI's sale that alerted me to Project Entropia (as it was then) and eventually led to me signing up.

It seems that such a virtual sale is no longer news to the broader audience, which is sad. Although I'm hearing that more people are signing up at the moment, it seems it is only the gaming community that is aware of this.

For this reason, EU will probably mostly get people who are already into other games. If these people are already more established in these other games then I fear they are less likely to stay here.

I think that part of the reason I stayed here (apart from having fun) is because this was my first MMORPG. I have dabbled with other MMOs, but I always came back here.

The fact that the BBC, Sky, etc in the United Kingdom don't seem to think CP's sale is news-worthy will threaten to deprive EU of the new blood it needs, at least from this part of the world. And this isn't the fault of MA/FPC - it is just how thinks are now. At least from where I stand.

These major news companies might not pick up the story until the Guinness Book actually records it as a new world record. I dunno.

MA has been through this twice now with TI and CND, we will have to wait to see what they do to make the major news companies more interested.

To be honest I expected there to be mainstream coverage in the (UK) media when the banks sold. Again, there wasn't. That said, at the time I think the mainstream media were in the middle of their love-in with Second Life - a universe that itself has now fallen out of favour, it seems.

I'm not now convinced the CP story will be picked up by BBC, etc when the Guinness Book records it.

I hope I'm wrong.

The article was seen in some russian digital news article. The way the covered it was sort of funny, they couldn't understand what was sold for that much. =)
Anyways here is the link for the russian speaking community.
Sales coverage by russian source

german: 3sat "neues"

in german tv show "neues" they mentioned the sale of cp but did not give any more info about EU. even the "expert" for virtual goods did not have a clue about EU but said that sale might eventually recover ;) actually the 330k usd was mentioned only once before and once after a report about virtual goods :(

http://www.3sat.de/dynamic/sitegen/...ce=/neues/sendungen/magazin/140926/index.html

to the left >> mediathek >> sendung vom 10.01.2010
or http://www.3sat.de/webtv/?100110_sendung_neues.rm

unfortunately i didnt find the possibility to browse seperate, so one has to watch the show but the topic is quite in the beginning. i think 2nd report. hf!

yeh but the fact it's a new world record should be enuth to get a mention

maby one of the peeps high up at the beeb played and lost a load and quit and wont publish this out of spite ?

Like many others the thing that brought me in was the coverage of the CND sale but at that time MMO's were the 'new' thing and all the rage even for main stream news.

Places such as 2nd life were being taken on by every real life company with a world market so that in itself provided the main stream cross over and put it into the spotlight for the 'regular' news. This way the news execs felt safe enough to cover it because even those that didnt have a clue what an MMO was knew names Nike/Ford/Coke etc.

Since then 2nd life has become pedo/devo/flying penis-world and not lived up to the hype and every non 'game' company has bailed out en masse so theres nothing from the 'real world' to make it sound 'legitimate'.MMO's are back to being a 'Kids/geeks/WoW' thing and yesterdays news.

It seems now the only way to get any attention on the internet is to say it in 160 characters or less

Sad but hardly surprising given that tv/news execs tend to pander to the lowest common denominator as far as the audience is concerned anyway.
And unfortunately when you look at half the crap that rates the best these days on television you can hardly blame them for it since we tend to reinforce their choices.
