Have been a bit beside myself lately, Monday was not a good day.
One of my dogs, is a Labrador cross.
With an American Bulldog
What do I do about that?
Hated the fact my friend went through with the pregnancy, her dog was worth a lot of money.
Aborting, would have meant messing up her next season.
The female dog in question, had investors, That couldn’t happen.
Was a rather big hiccup my randy Labrador decided to to mate with this ugly, pig natured dog.
And she was, she was a nasty piece of work.
She would chase horses, get kicked in the head, blood would stream down her face, she would still attack.
She would attack the postman, visitors to the yard, she would attempt to kill anyones dog, that came onto the yard.
That dog was vile.
But so, she decided to let the pregnancy continue.
To bear up my responsibilities, I offered to take one puppy.
I wanted the blackest, biggest male there was, that was my deal.
Introducing Hunter.
They had 15 puppies in the end.
2 died, one still born, one sat on by idiot Mother.
So now I have 50% formidable dog on my hands.
I watched him carefully, had him castrated as early as possible.
Have been hard on him, installing I am the Alpha female.
But as much as this dog loves me, he doesn’t take any shit from anyone else.
Its making my life hard.
He hates men, for a start, if the man is obviously a friend of mine, he's fine.
But then, if anyone is near the house/the car/when I’m walking, he goes a bit mad.
Monday, he decides to attack the person that owns the place where I keep my horses.
About this person, I’ve seen him walk 'through' dogs, as if they are not there.
He reasons, they are lesser than him, so should get out the way.
Ive seen him do it with Hunter, even slammed a wheel-barrow into him on one day.
Hunter yelped, he had hurt him.
On Monday, I heard Hunter growling, barking and making a fuss.
I went running towards the noise.
There he was threatening to attack this man.
I screamed his name, and for a moment he was subservient, looked at me, droped his tail.
But then, for some reason, turned from me, and resumed his defensive posture.
Growling, snapping and threatening to attack.
The guy in question looked frightened and nervous.
When I approached, he turned to me, and threatened to kill my dog.
Shouted he would kill my dog.
(yeah whatever mate)
I rolled my eyes at him, and offered to shut my dog away.
Hunter was still having a go all this time.
I walked away, while this man stood there terrified, and called Hunter to follow, which he did.
I shut him in a stable.
Question is, does this episode make my dog dangerous?
Is he like his Mother?
Or did this man, which already has a reputation, provoke that attack?
Where do I stand in the eyes of the law?
If he did boot my dog, and got bitten, is that a defense?
Are dogs that have been hurt not allowed to defend themselves.. or even react?
Could it be, that even if Hunter had been kicked by this man, a good dog would just move and accept it?
Is a dog dangerous, if he doesn’t accept it?
In any case, this man has done my dog no favors’, in not trusting men, just confirmed it.
Which indeed, makes him even more dangerous.
