I have been "playing", i'll use the term lightly because of my recent complete loss of enthusiasm for even typing in my details at the login screen, for over a year at least, can't remember exactly.

And i'm wondering, besides the community, because I'd have to say this game has one of the best out there, what keeps the players who have been around way longer than me playing?

Cause entropia's changed now with the new VU, and I actually can't stand to play it now, i'm wondering what i'm missing.

So, what keeps you guys around?

im very easily addicted to things that involve gambling...
and to me entropia is gambling..
and i love the people..
so mix the two together and there ya have it..
and i love the game play as well

if i wernt on entropia, id be at the blackjack table wiht friends drinking beer...

Because I enjoy playing it? :scratch2:

I still enjoy playing it most days, and the in game friends I've made.

i sold my car to buy the latest in computer technology to be able to sweat without any lagg and to see the awesome sweating beems i luv sweating :3

I play entropia because most of the time it's fun with some variation ofcourse.
Recently 4 weeks before VU 10.3 it was going great for me so played it more by that time. Still enjoy hunting, mining crafting. But I mostly play because I have some good friends in EU, love the controls and it's simply the best MMO I've played. :)

Well, I like playing because there is so much to explore and see. This new VU has brought some amazing scenery and terrain. I can also try to go where I like and do this when I like. There is no set-piece to follow. Along the way I have been skilling in a number of areas. Even managed to get one SGA item while hunting!

I just find that after playing eco and such, when I go on to do something more risky, like hunting stronger monsters and stuff, I actually can't go back, because the old stuff just seems boring, and I can't afford the new risky stuff cause even without technically "bad" sessions, the PEDs seem to keep going down.

I can't complain really, my past loot has been pretty good, but it just seems like entropia's lost something, back before CryEngine I could hunt argo's for hours, now its jsut boring..

I play to Lose... Born Loser!

i like to play this game :)
and here playing nice and good people :)

I'm slightly addicted to gambling too, but have a good amount of control over it. Before playing Entropia Universe, I used to regularly attend the casino that sit's about 6 blocks from my house. Since I've been participating in Entropia Universe, the urge to go to the real casino is not as great. I actually hate going there now. That's why I call it the "cussin hole."

Additionally, Planet Calypso is constantly evolving and changing, and I don't have to gamble in it at all... Lately, I've been focused more on the trading side of things instead of on hunting, crafting, etc. I do still do those on occassion, but only when trading profits are up a bit.

Changing what you do in game makes it a lot less boring. If you hunt a lot, maybe go try crafting. If you craft a lot, go explore the outside world a little. If you mine, go and try hunting or crafting.

If you are a street seller, maybe go and buy a shop so you can grow your business. If you are a shop owner, maybe go and sit on a TP and try trading a bit.

If you are a sweater, go try buying a weapon sometime and using it.

Constantly grinding gets boring after a while. Changing things gives you an entirely new perspective and new "universe" to explore within this one universe.

Its great to see some good things being said about Entropia for a change, as a new player all the negativeness was really getting me down. :yay:

I've just been playing for about two months now, and I have loved every minute of it. The community is amazing and the gameplay is great. Sure I think that there are things that need to be fixed, but it will come. MA/FPC just need to listen to us and know what we need/want. :)

I have a lot of faith in the game. I think it has huge amounts of potential and I would love to be able to help steer it in the right direction. :D

I have only played for over a year but find what keeps me going is the friends.
I enjoy exploring - this means i take walks (this is turn helps me find also the fruit and stone that MA seems to only give me once in a great while after 6hours of walking  :( - still hoping to find the large jackpot of at least 500 or more HOF in my opinion )

on a more serious note i like to hunt.. i hunt with big guns (my faviorte the Korss 400 with amp or the Breer P5 and now i find my self testing out my new rocket launcher. But i will go on opalo hunts with friends and when we do get together it is to talk on skype/ventrilo and just walk from one place tothe next while hunting.

So enjoyment is how One can see it.. IN RL you would not rush around - in RL -if you go to a park many times, you end up finding something new. EU is the same. It is in your mind how you want to play.
Change the routine around. (plus who said you have to always hunt big mobs with big guns. ** i took an Exo Stalker down with only my opalo and no armor.. faped a few times .. but it was a chanllege i put my self in ** i still like hunting Exo's with opalo.. Make a challenge for youself is awhat i like to do. :)

:)I start to play november 2002....I like it...:);):)
Rea:)

After all is said and done, and people skill up and make some PED (and more often lose it) I believe there need to be some random unannounced events. Like mob invasions of cities or other things.

Making PED and skilling alone isn't going to hold everyone's attention forever. We are supposed to be a part of a colonist experience, and part of being in a new world is dealing with the unexpected.

I would love to see invasions of cities occasionally. Like someone running a mob train in but FPC would be the ones controlling it. I would love to see more action by the bots also. They hate us, right? Then why should they just stand around waiting for us to go to them? :D Make 'em attack us! Let them set up impromptu bases outside our cities and let us destroy them!

There's so much promise in this game, and I hope MA/FPC realize this. The promise isn't in the ability to make money. It's not in the RCE. It's in the premise. It's a sandbox and I want to feel like I am able to do most ANYTHING in the world. It's getting there. They are on the right path to make it so. I just hope they follow through.

In waay to deep.

either quit and take my losses or risk losing more or make back a bit.

Simply enjoy playing.

Reading the forums, well, there's where it gets to be not so enjoyable now.

'Cause it's a game that i wanted to play since kid.

If i had to judge the game just on game play it fails, badly.

What keeps me playing is the RCE element.

What keeps me playing is the RCE element.

The RCE is what drew me in, but I have realized that it takes a lot of time to make money from EU. After I found my society, the game changed tack and now I play to skill and to be part of the community.

I have always viewed EU as a long term endeavor so I am in it for the long run. Even if I go through periods of playing less or take a break one day I`ll be back frequently. The RCE is a big draw too. Even losing PED there is still potential value you can pull out if you wanted to in gear and skill. More than can be said for most any other game. Also the challenge of surviving from day to day. If you like easy go play Nintendo! And after all this time the people. I have some good friends in EU and would`nt ever want to desert them just as rl friends. It is a game with depth, many options and details. Not to mention it is always evolving even if it does`nt always seem to evolve in a favorable direction you know it won`t be that way for long. And finally what the future holds for EU. The platform it is becoming. The platform it can be. We are just getting started!

i've been playing on/off for for years (Never had the chance to play it more for a few months) But i wanna be in for the long run now, cause we have space to look forward too and all the new items new planets could have to offer. :yay:

Back in the '80's, playing Elite and Lords of Midnight into the early hours, I dreamed about a game where I could buy whatever gun I liked and go anywhere on a planet, shooting stuff. I get to 35 and find EU, and it even pays me back my playing cash now and then. My personal experience from nearly 4 years is more than enough game for my needs, and although not perfect the pros outweigh the cons. I feel sorry for those who find the game "flawed" yet feel unable to find a game they enjoy to play instead. Here for the long term.

Since I am not a true gamer, I only play one game for 6,5 years now. Project Entropia. It's a longterm project and even though I am fed up with it and its developers regularly, I just can't seem to leave it alone.

It's challenging!

It's challenging and much less expensive for me to play than other games. Should I finally cash out one day I'll have more than I put in, even if I don't cash out I'll have spent much less on this one than I have on any other MMO.

I play for many reasons, mainly now? because i've made good friends here, and its fun to try and build something from nothing, it's also a fun way for me to test business theory, study market trend and just plain kill stuff. So pick your poison i guess, only one of these^^ burns a hole in your ped card though, so im sure that has something to do with my optimistic approach :D
