How do you work out if an extender is worthwhile?

I am currently looking at applying an extender to the armatrix range ~l25-lr30.

Is the correct calculation: Total tt+MU saved from extended rifles vs tt+MU of the extender?

So say the extender does 20% decay sharing which means it will last for approximately 5 guns, is the mu saved on those 5 guns vs the mu of the extender what should be focused on to determine the viability of the extender. If the value saved is greater then go for it?

short answer:
if the (L) gun's MU% is higher than the extender's MU%, then use an extender.

long answer:
formula for one shot/swing/use with 20% extender (20% = 0,20):
[Weapon decay x 0,80 x Weapon MU%] + [Weapon decay x 0,20 x Extender MU%] = decay including MU%

Extenders are useless on (UL) items, since they decay for TT cost only (=100%).

Example 1:
200% MU gun with 1,00 ped decay per shot
cost for 1 shot = 2,00 PED

Example 2:
same 200% MU gun with 1,00 ped decay per shot plus Extender with 110% MU:
[1,00PED*0,80*200%] + [1,00PED*0,20*110%] =
[1,60 PED] + [0,22 PED] =
cost for 1 shot = 1,82 PED

Really good response Orion

Thanks

Thank you.

post scriptum:

for extenders with other percentages like 30% Mayhem extenders for example do calculate with 0,70 for gun and 0,30 for the extender.
