Tired of waiting for Fermi? Looks like the first official nVidia GeForce GTX 480 (Fermi) benchmarks have been done and looks like it won't offer much more performance than the ATI Radeon HD5870 and in Crysis benchmarks they actually show equal results. The review was online for a very short time, but some guys were fast enough to save some benchmark results. So here's the link to the benchmarks:

Well if the devs of a game uses tesselation, THEN is when you will see the major difference. And it looks awesomly much better with tesselation.

Very unpractical video card. TDP is massive, performance per watt is terrible, problems with PSU ampere requirements, safe SLI in certified cases and unavailable. But for now fastest single GPU video card :)

However would be a great performer using DX11 in the future of course if it won't be fried by that time :D

New architecture, this can be really good(not that it is Epic fail as some has said on various forums)when they have strated out Heat and power-consumption issues.

Does surely not look like Nvidia is getting the crown back soon.
Also read, that there will be a few subversions before the "finest" come out, looks like the failures in the production process have not been refined good enough yet.
Really a pity, Nvidia was such a fine company a few years ago and now the best thing they have is their marketing. If the continue like that, in five years there will ony be AMD and Intel left for grafix.

yup

yup lol, the new nividia's blow...

I have a 5850 atm, it has a tdp of 150, and the 470gtx doesnt perform better at crysis, while the 470gtx has a tdp of 215...

ATI ALL THE WAY now (used to be an nvidia lover)

Btw, I get between 60-120 fps with this 5850 :)

Tesselation will be a huge step toward the realism in PC games, no doubt. But by the time the first games with this feature will come out, the GTX470/480 cards will probably become obsolete. Talking about Crysis (what's probably the most important benchmark for most of us) the new nVidia cards don't offer any performance increase over the cheaper and more energy efficient HD5870 cards.

More Fermi reviews will be published all over the internet on monday.

we already have several games with tessellation and more to come in the near future.

ATI rules anyway. Just wait for the 10.3 catalyst aka "The what the fuck" driver that will give 5% improvement to 5000 series and some % for the 4000 series :D

yep this first version is missing some of the cuda cores as the producer of the chip wasnt able to get them all working on 40nm.

Clearly it's full of win. If you keep your PC behind a wall in a fridge.:D People cancel their orders I heard.
