Question: How to close a thread as an ordinary member

You need to ask to a Moderator.

Each section of the EF have his own Moderators.
Scroll down at the bottom of the page and you will find it.

For ex. in "About EntropiaForum" section the Moderators are:

Skam
Kjetil
Jimmy B
JohnCapital
Rayne Jade
