I know im not a huge poster, but anything but i always read the post, and i need some help if anyone can help me

Well this is the thing, the day 3 of december, in my country, venezuela, we are holding general president election, as you might notice, is a scary shit, we have 2 posibilities, as always the good and the bad, well both are liek bad, just one really really really really bad, the thing is that if chavez ( the really .... really bad choice) wins, im screwed and probably will have to run from the country, thats why i need some help, to see what my posibilities are, im asking anyone that cans, and wants to to fill this form plz.

Country of Residence?
City of Residence?
How is the housing, or living condition? what is a normal rent like or the prices if posible?
Are there any good universities where you live or nearby? specialy in the part of science, technology and engineering? can you place the name plz?
how is the working condition, and the posibilities of getting a job?
The Migration and visa availability if you know about it?
What would you say are good things about your location and place or residence?
What would you say where the bad?
Any last comments?

Im sorry if anyone is offended by this or anything, if you want to answer just a few that would still help, i just want to know about my posibilities if i need to run from my country

Sorry for your situation man, I know Chavez is an evil man. Of course, the liberal press here in the States thinks he's the second coming of Christ and will do all they can to show the good side of him.

Good luck in your search.

you should see one of the news channels in here, is the channel of the country and everything is like hes a freaking miracle and thats is god on earth or something

Well all i can suggest is don't boat it over to Australia. Cos if Indonesian Pirates don't kill you then most likely an Australian fast Patrol Boat will run over you and pretty much do nothing about it. Then if they do haul your soggyness out of the water we'll send you to detention in Nauru (not australia) where you'll have to convince ASIO your not a bad person (all up should take about 2-3 years).

But for the legal migrants here. Lots of people from Sth America here. And all the ones i ever known are the best people. So good luck to you.

As for the info you want.
I'm in the southern state of Victoria, Melbourne is its city.
Housing is affordable. You could share a house with others (having your own room) for easily 100Aussie dollers/week or probably less. Depends if you want to live inner city or outer. Go to www.avjennings.com.au you can see the types of houses newly built. We have a lot of inner city terraces and ever growing numbers of high rises.
Plenty of world standard universities everywhere. Around here there is Deakin University, Melbourne Uni, RMIT(a real techie uni), Victoria University, LaTrobe University.
Working conditions are great, I think min wage is about 15-16AUD per hour. But plenty of work getting more than that. Everyone has employer contributed super and minimal health care even though you gotta wait for sometime.
Australia is always taking migrants. We take in about 100,000 a year from all over the world. Main thing is being truthful on your application. If they find irregularities you'll get into a awful waiting game as the play find the truth games.
Australia is one of the best places in the world to live in. Freedom, democracy, opportunity (equal), multicultural (we all came from somewhere less than 200 years ago), its extremly hot, extremly cold (sometimes in one day), tropical, arid, temperate.
I couldn't say anything bad so all the rest is good.
If your serious about relocating have a thorough look into australia. Start here at Dept of Immigration website. http://www.immi.gov.au/

Didn't you hear me in chat at Argus the other nite. You were there. Sure I said something to suggest I was Oz. Cos I knew u were from this forum ages ago. Several in Drow are Vics.

EDIT: Now is the soc your in Dee's fans or Tiges. Richo lover here.

Man, we have it so easy.... hope it goes ok for ya.

If you run to England, you will have the best Universities in the world (every city has several), a generous welfare system, free healthcare and jobs of most kinds. Half of Eastern Europe have found that out lately, no reason for you not to do the same.

Asylum status is handed out to those seen as needing it, many of whom DON'T, so you shouldn't have too many problems there.
Rent in London is high as hell, but in other cities expect to pay $100-$200 a week for a small apartment/rooms, around $200-$1000 per week for a house.

Living in the (more industrial) north of England can be less than half the cost of living in the south, particularly the south-east.

I live in Bristol (south-west) and have never been out of work when I didn't want to be.... other good cities are Nottingham, Cambridge, Newcastle...

Minimum wage is around $6 an hour, most jobs pay more.

Petrol/Gas is quite expensive here, around $6 a gallon. Public Transport is ok, buses being MUCH cheaper than the trains.

Other plus points? Only 1-2% of our cops have guns. Our courts are pretty fair. The people in general are friendly.

Oh yeah, our TV is pretty good too.

Good luck whatever happens:D

thanks Westy and hurrikane for your inputs, i didnt knew much about thsoe 2 location only rumors, but i knew they where good, and for the part of australia being hot, is no problem with me i live in maracaibo, and if you look at tit i think in the colder of nights it can go as little as like 30 - 35 ºC in the middle of the day is worse :p over 40 easily

Hearing such stories makes you wonder if you ever had real problems yourself. Hope it turns out well for you :(

As for your requaest:

Country of residence: Russia
City: Moscow
Housing rents: 500-800$ per month for 1-room appartment far from the center. Rooms are bit cheaper. There are only blocks of appartments so renting a house isn't an option.
Jobs: 200-500$ a month aren't hard to find, average for the city is about 800$/month but good specialists can are needed and if you are worth it, there are many big foreign companies that have their departments here. Plus it's a city of 'salaries in envelopes' which means salaries are very often more than what's shown in papers.
Education possibilities: Huge. Hundreds of various universities and academies in Moscow alone (quite a lot in other big cities too). Many have centuries long history. Education is mostly free here. Majority of universities give u this possibility if you pass entering exams well. They also provide rooms for their students that live far from the city. These rooms are either free or require some symbolic payment that often gives slightly better conditions. But thats fair for citizens of the country and sometimes neighbours. Some unis have 'exchange' programs I guess because I know for sure there are groups of foreign students in more than 1 uni and they also live in those 'rooms' with other students. We get mostly african/asian students and some of them stay to live here after they graduate.
Migration/Visa: I don't have much information here but I guess possibilities do exist.
Comments: I love my city and my country. I could write a book on it here about special this place and people living here are. But I guess the first thing you see when you come here is that it's tough. It's different from the rest of the country and getting more and more 'european' with every year but it's not a place to move in to live peacefully and civilized. It's a place to conquire, a big challenge. Possibilities are in the air but it's survival of the fittest. Government doesn't really provide good enough conditions for the weak. Different mentality and -35C in winter can be a big problem also.

So I love it and I've met people from other countries that got to love it and stayed but in your case it wouldn't be the first place to move to to consider.

thanks aurora, i always liked Moscow as a possibility mostly cuz of the cold weather :p

but thanks :) i must say even tho is a bad situation the one im having, i mean we are steps from being a communist country and being like Cuba but still is not such a horrible place, the ppl in here are mostly great, if you take away the poverty, job problems, education problems, even a few tear gas bombs and such is a good place to live :)

I'm sorry about your situation.

I'll write soon something about my country of residence, Austria.

I think coming here is worth a try, compared to the rest of the world the conditions of living are pretty good here.

More later, good luck to you!

Country of residence: United States

City: Florida, Ft Lauderdale

Housing rents: Depends on city- You can get a decent apartment for about $700 for yourself, a one bedroom or a studio. This also depends on what your looking for, if you want to sacrifice space for location or vice versa… but rent is not that bad here.

Jobs: Depends- Manual/Construction or Business Jobs differ. If your looking for higher pay while you attend college/university, I’d suggest since you’re a male (I believe), to start off in Construction and manual work, in this area it pays very well, anywhere from $2,000 to $2,500 a month, more than an entry level job at an office, which can pay from $1,000-$1,500 depending on your experience and how many hours a week you work.

Education possibilities: There are community colleges and universities, depending on your immigration status you may be able to attend college via a student exchange program or if your fleeing venezuala for political reasons, there may be special programs that can help you financially. I would rate the education system here O.K., but that’s a personal opinion.

Migration/Visa: This depends- If you want to attend a exchange student program then there may be some time restriction, if you plea political asylum then you would have to give up your citizenship to Venezuala (I believe) and then there’s Visa, but you’d have to wait awhile and usually someone (relatives for example) that already live in the US, would have to refer you.

Comments: I love the US, I may not agree with our political powers or the way many things are handled, but I enjoy living here. I am originally from Colombia and visited it a few weeks ago, I know how hard it can be. I enjoy the people here, there is a vast variety of cultures, there are jobs available and there are plenty of opportunities if you take the time to look for them. I used to live in New York before, that is also another city you might want to take a look at, the public transportation over there is beautiful, here in Florida, a car is a necessity which can be a problem for starters. However, the weather here is great, winter is practically non-existant but our health assistant programs are by far one of the worst ive ever encountered.

I wish you luck wherever you go :)

Oh and the earlier comment about Chaves being the Anti Christ... Im not even going to begin, on our Beloved US president ;)

I live in San Antonio, Tx. USA. There is an excellent medical school near where I work, and many hospitals. There is very little unemployment so finding suitable work should be no problem. We pay $714 per month, for a nice 2-bedroom apartment, located in the medical center, which is a very good part of town to live in.

I'm not sure how easy it is to immigrate though. Unless you qualify as a refuge, it might be a little difficult. I currently have family members in the Philippines waiting to get the go-ahead, and it is taking forever. On the plus side, most of the community here speaks spanish, so you should fit right in.

That's all I know on the subject. I wish you well.

Sincerely,
Donald

+1 to florida, panhandle area here, the weather is nice, it doesnt snow, the beach is clean. the job opportunities are limited career-wise if you don't have secondary education (if it isn't like this everywher by now), but you may consider talking with INS and seeing if theres any method or route you could take to get here (US) quickly and legally. :)

ofttopic edit: Donald, which island? my mom is from ilo ilo :D

yeah florida has a nice weather, is not too cold or hot, i have a 3 year education, thats like a bachelor for the Americans i think

Dont come to the UK... i really dont want to write a post about why, as u would fall asleep after the 10th page.

Forget the UK.

Im from toronto canada! land of immigration! come on by theres always a demand for labor in canada :) :wise:

1. If you have a lot of money and are willing to make a "donation" and/or start a significant business, you can go just about anywhere you'd want to.

2. If you have a college degree in a profession that is in need in a country, that helps a lot to get you in many countries.

3. Immigration to the US is generally very difficult. Unless you marry someone here. But who knows, if Chavez wins maybe the US will offer political asylum to Venezuelan people, but I doubt it. Your chances are probably better in Canada, but I don't know for sure...

I came to the US on an H1B visa, but I needed a company to sponsor me... and that's the hard part. Immigration to the US is not easy and I have spent many hours at the INS or on the phone and many months waiting to eventually get my visa.

From what I understand getting a student visa is a little bit easier, but I think you either need to know someone here to sponsor you or you have to be loaded with cash. Personally, if I were you I would put the US pretty low on my list of options. But if you are interested in a student visa here's a link

Canada is a great choice because the gov helps you out considerably and with free health care, great education and a large diverse nation you'll have no problem fitting in.

The people are friendly, crime is low and our colleges and universities are top notch. This is a link to help anyone interested in moving to Canada.

thanks, yes i know us is a bit harder than other countries, i think canada is the quickest choice atm :/

Canada would certain ly be my choice, and one day i might make the move there myself.
