I was thinking the same thing, but only did 3 runs with that finder so far.
Will see after 5 runs in totall

In the meantime, I may now know why the return was/is so low... the next runs must indeed be better, otherwise I will stop using the Sabad 2 in this area.
BTW, the numbers under de resources are the depths I found it with this finder.

Cave sap found with Ziplex 5 = it's quite a good sign, hopefully you'll get more cave sap with Ziplex 5 series!

If I have done 5 runs with a finder, I will do another 5 runs with that finder but this time amped, starting with amp 1 and going up every 5 runs. Mind you, if I really get too much oil in the return and fewer resources that have a decent %, I stop amped and go back to unamped or use a lower amp again.

We will see how many % oil and how many % resources with a decent % will be in the runs to compare.
I hope that the resources will remain approximately the same with a decent % and that the amp, usually just add more fillers, in this case oil.

I have to admit, it's really fun to do these tests and see the results.

Added more info in my first post since the amount of stock, especially for oil, keeps growing so I'm testing a few more stacks to see the sales
Lowering the net % for oil from minimum 109,10% to 107,59% already makes a differents of 34,16 ped of profit for unamped.

Sales of resources and economics
In this part of Entropia it is decided how much profit or loss you will make.
ALL prices go up and down regarding availability, so I stock up if needed and try to sell as high as possible for the highest profit. 💲
This means that I wait until my resources can only sell at a minimum fixed price determined by me and higher if possible, but never lower.
I do some calculation that I think is marketable, but in the beginning with the highest possible profit margin.
This is especially important for the fillers. You know that the sales % is low, but due to the large amount you receive during your runs, this price is very important. If your stock becomes too high because you are selling too slowly, lower your price a bit and create different stacks with different quantities and test the sales.
Also, your return is based on your avatar's profit/loss in TT, so sell cheap and cut your own profit.

If you now mine with pre-amped/amps, the return of fillers, so in this case oil, is greater, so you will make even less profit here.
Currently the return in mining is very stable, but as every miner knows, it can change very quickly.

Agreed, by selling the oil at 100%, I can more easily continue mining every day, but for what?
Alic, Typo, Putty, Magerian, Nexus ... all sell very slowly or I don't sell because the % is much too low at the moment, so you keep stocking until the % rises.
The choice is yours ...
From now on, since I'm still in profit, I will calculate oil as 100%, so worst case scenario, but of course you can always sell with a %, everything has to do with how big/small your Ped card is and how much you can stock up for better times

In this case, I will also sell my mined oil at 109%+, since it's an additional 9% markup plus, which is roughly about 250 peds more!

Make sure you calculate carefully because those are my net prices.
What I currently do is no longer refine oil, only when I have sold a stack.
I put about 4 different small stacks on auction and if they sell, I restock and refine what I need. Also saves a lot in refinement costs and if it doesn't sell or you need peds, you can still sell it in the TT.
I think it is very underestimated how much you can earn from a filler, same with Lyst.

Extracting 3000 crude oil ... costs depending on your excavator but counting with the Exhumer Mk1 = 0,09 ped
Refining 3000 crude oil with the Resource Refiner B = 0.33 ped
Putting 1500 oil on auction = 0.54 ped
Sales @ 103.33% = 31 ped so you (think) make 1 ped profit
Refining + fee + excavation = 0.96 ped
Profit = 0,04 ped :oops:

In this case, we need to set up the markup higher than 103.33%, else we will merely make 0.04 ped profit o_O

Indeed, cause also, refining is the biggest cost ...
I keep some refined, up to a certain amount of peds, the rest unrefined in case I need it, but try to avoid to TT it.

Did an extra 2 amped runs yesterday with the MD-10 and Demonic MK-I + AMP1
See the results here ... both 65% oil ...
If you sell this, for a decent %, it will of course take longer before you have peds again to finance the next run.

I have also created a table to see what impact this has on sales figures and therefore how much TT return you would need to get on a run to break even.
Currently a very large difference of almost 6%, but I'll keep going to get more results.

I have also created a table to see what impact this has on sales figures and therefore how much TT return you would need to get on a run to break even.
Currently a very large difference of almost 6%, but I'll keep going to get more results.

Based on the above data, TM1 gave you less oil (lower than 50%) and more alice. Maybe, it's a good finder for you to use in near future, if you wanna avoid the high oil %

Hopefully, the other two types of finders - Sabad 2 and F-102 have less oil find % (Lower than 60%) for you there.

I only did a extra run with the MD-10 and the demonic on sunday/monday.
You can see that @ the netto cost.
The other amped runs where from some time ago and indeed the amount of oil was lower but this way you can see what is in the return changes a lot and in the meantime their already 13 pages of oil on auction, so slightly more now.
What I get in unamped runs, doesn't make much difference no matter what finder I use, any finder gives you about the same.

Changes I see now ... I need to sell my oil at net minimum 107,59% when amped or I'll start loosing where I can TT my oil when not amped and still make a nice profit.

Today the 2nd run with the DSEC 2 (L) and still negative.
3 more runs to go before I test this finder with amp 1

To my surprise I found cave sap but still no magerian as for vegatation can only be found deeper.

Oil always sells and my stock started to get lower so I thought I'd do another run with the F-101 + Amp 1 this time.
As expected, with an amp you get more fillers in your return
Now my oil stock is up again :D

Hmm, interesting.

Sabad 2 gave you less oil and more alic in the end, I didn't even thought about it at all...
 
And another bad Amped run yesterday, this time with the F-103 + amp 1
With Amp 1 I need 86,67% TT return ... so I was 10% under that

Today I tried unamped again to compare where I only need 82,50% TT return
This time with the Ziplex 10 but as you can see this finder gives very volatile results ... but now mining changed and less filler is given what makes a big difference with only 74,36% TT return.
