Next Island - New EU Partner

wohoo new stuff :yay:


ok graphics are bad but guess that will change, been waiting for ages for ingame mini-games, this might be it :)

i think the marketing hype is a bit confusing ..

Crytek is in competition with Blizzard, Sony and EA (add Unreal engine to that list) game engine companies more or less.

EU is not a platform. It is a game manufactured by some people in Sweden that depends on companies like Blizzard or Crytek and Windows to make it go. Other words it is an application that runs on Windows or pc emulated Mac or wine on Linux platforms. Until it comes on a dvd and replaces windows or mac or linux somehow and allows me to do the other stuff I do online and offline with my pc it will still just be another application in a long list of other applications similar in nature. EU could be a browser if the marketing guys would be a tad bit more realistic about EU's place on the web. But the hype will ultimately get in the way of that i fear

It is a nice game don't get me wrong there I like EU a lot but its not what the marketing spin guys want us to think it is or has the potential to be.
 
Except for the CE2 movie I got a very bad impression of that site. The design is ugly, and that other movie just depressed me.
 
Good god that looks terrible. Very unprofessional site. Well, with the exception of the crytopia flyover vid :)

But I guess this was to be expected from MA. Just like any other company, anyone with the available funds can join in...

Anyone else perceives those two sites as highly unprofessional made?

I mean Cryengine2 as next generation grafx engine and then such websites, doesn't match. They should make the webpages "somewhat" more to current standards, no? (Ofc not with the engine, but the knowledge to use, guess you get what I mean)

Both look like the pages I used to make when I was learning html from a 12 page web tutorial.

Just my two cents.

The video of the right looks like the There alpha version. Now there is BIGGER and CUTER btw lol

I think it's only a demo of what were they working at before MA offered them a planet or island.

PD: The place in the CryEngine2 video looks like the Second Life Tutorial island...

An improved tutorial for newbies? ^^
 
LOL if this is the quality of the upcoming planets, then there is not going to be any flod of chinese ppl nor any other ppl for that matter :laugh:
 
what I don't get it is how in the world this kinda movie available on "partner" site while we are fed some crappy slideshow disguised in the form of a movie. Legit? yeah, i think is legit, or else MA has to improve it's network security pronto :D

Yeah, I was like "wtf is this?" I had to stop it before the end.

It's pretty obvious that is not what it will look like with CE2. They should remove it. And get a real website designer.

Yep i agree Xen, i mean why the hell would they put that vid there lol. It doesn't do anything for their image, guess the guy putting it together must be in some kind of time bubble with his Atari ST. :D
I did kinda like the retro feel though, and the girls movement when she was playing that game made my day. :D

A) Vid on left was never intended for pubic release at this date and was part of the partner intro demo set.

B) Marco and David are sat at home this weekend :rofl: at how the community will discover and react.

weee they gonna implement EGA-graphics into cryengine 2, this will run perfectly on my moms old notebook from 1995 :D

well dan they need to do something about their website, it looks like it is build by an 8-year old (no offence to 8-year old webdesigners tho.. you get the point..)

Not to mention the graphics used on that website.. what a first impression:rolleyes:

Very unprofessional of them to 'try' and launch a website that is unfinished.. will scare off potential customers.

I hope MA will have retain a certain quality degree in the worlds they add, because this one looks like it's going to suck bigtime :(
