Info: PCGamer article on Entropia Universe

Think MA are missing a trick. The current attention on crypto and NTFs. They could for sure do something to get entropic more known. Although maybe they don’t want to be any bigger, they have been doing the same stuff since day one…

if MA wants to bail in Crypto i do hope they rely on polygon... it cost in GAS fees 1/1.000th of the ETH main chain and is a layer of it (superfast)

I think this was attempted with "DeepToken" but the community wasn't unanimous about it at the time, and then something happened to that project.

They should release PED as a crypto since it already has a steady economy behind it.

Interesting they had Deathifier story in there but no info on what happened

Thats very likely because commenting on ongoing legal issues is usually a big no no for any corporation, let alone MA who almost never comment on anything

I agree, the idea behind DeepToken is the same as NFT's, but most of you thought it was a money grab and shot it down. Not understanding the potential behind it, just like your family didnt understand "real" cash for virtual property 20 years ago and many still dont :)

There is more to the reasons behind my (and probably others') dropping it like a hot potato after initially being supportive, but going into this again would derail the thread.

I'm not sure what the hype is about, PED is not a currency which stands on its own and has survived the test of time, it is just a token with a fixed exchange rate to USD. The closest equivalent are casino chips, not virtual currencies which need to prove their worth on the market. That the game and the company behind it continue to exist after that many years is a feat not many have accomplished, and this is worth writing articles about. Dragging PED into the limelight because of the increasing popularity of virtual currencies is misleading though, imo.

tetherdollars disagree
"Pegged currencies " are for sure representing more value than a simple string of bits.
one is providing a central bank (of usa) to support the dollar value
crypto present a "consensus of value" that is something different
(can rise indefinitely but are a "consensus fo value" to me... if consensus goes to zero..........

Ever since coming back. This 100%.
MA could easily gain a lot of traction with it. After all peds are essentially a quasi crypto currency.

And sweat rings are quasi manual crypto miners :p

Given however I think a large reason EU still stands today as the fun niche game it is, returning from old or playing all along. Is that MA does do things in a very legit way, the game handles transactions legitimately securely and through the proper channels which has made it able to keep on trucking. I think at least. And its made me moreso think that after finding out that MA got their hands on getting UE5 for the game, they wouldnt do that without having a stable future outlook on the game.
Heck, look back to the 2003 launch of all the stuff you 'supposedly could do' in the game, it was essentially explained in a way as a metaverse of sorts :p

I'm sure its crossed their minds many times though if they could do something along crypto and nft's ever since that side of things started up i would imagine. But it would render things unable to be legitimate in the same way when it comes to transparancy and clarity of currencies and taxes viseversa.

As i read it correcty we had 18k playerbase for corona and now 86k? Where are this infos from?
And if they are real...
Its what all say since ages the game is dead or the sky is falling.
Hell i have over 10% in my FL..... oh whole playerbase 86k nowdays and soon they all gone and 10k left

falling falling falling

all depends on the definition of "playerbase" and "acrive players"
maybe i am on a wrong proxy but i think that EntrpiaLife has most of active players registered to participate eventually in events by LAs
that amount fell from 5200 (corona top) to 3800 so to me is a loss of 25% of "EL registered player presence"
supposing that just 2% of EU player is on EL seems very extreme, i was considering 20% of active
(sweatbot are not playerbase to me, i care of who put ped in the loot pool not that scrap some out
sadly the balance of MA dores not say number of different depositors but only total ped
so if "Whale supermario" deposited 50% of it we ca not know

Usually when articles refer to any type of player base it is just the "unique amount of accounts that did X parameter to trigger as counting (logging on, plaing, creating account etc) and they just base it off that.

85k seems like a lot for entropia, its a very niche game so it would be hyper noticable if 85k active players was roaming around.

That being said thought I last played in end of 2019 just before rona, and i remember there being less activity back then overall, at least it felt like it.

Now I usually do see a couple of players regardless of where I tp too, trade chat rolls activly, and the global window rolls by very fast compared. So overall its nice to see that people play. Like i said in my other post I love that the game seems safe and seure enough that they have gone for UE5. As long as they dont turn the game into a active action game xD to many of those, entropia is super chill which is why i like it and always return
