So absolutely everything except the places where you can't auction things are up. I think this is good start to space.

Unless people are selling out. I know a few that have put lots of stuff for sale for that reason.

That's got to be the reason. Newcomers won't be using the auctions from day 1.

There are always people who will go huffy and sell-out when they see something they don't like, even though lootable PVP in space is in fact absolutely essential for space trade as I pointed out in this thread.

The people that sell out in a fit or rage over something without thinking about it generally tend to come back with there tails between there legs later.

People have thought about it and alot. It's not anger, rage or anything else other then dissapointment that a game they like is becoming more tedious to play. Not only is lootable pvp in space not needed, space itself was not needed. The majority of players just want to hunt, mine and craft. They are not interested in looting others or being looted and jumping through hoops of fire to move around the game board.

They are not interested in spending hours to travel to another area of the game and spending money to do so. MA can pretend these other LA's are new planets but they are pretty much nothing but new LA's owned by players.

Instead of creating this space area it might have been better to use those funds and buy out the hanger owners and make travel free. Traders might be interested in the opportunaties of shortages of materials but again the average player is not. The average player would prefer better returns from MA and perhaps things like making skills and loot more exciting and valuable.

I don't see anything wrong with creating "Space" for pvp for those that like such gameplay but forcing others who just want to move around the game to get involved and charging them money to do so and wasting thier time doing an activity they have no interest in is counterproductive IMO. It will be just another one of those things that keep many people away from this game.

nice idea! :) However I think the orders pages are at least as important to measure the trading acitvity. Since they kinda show what ppl are looking for. The other auc pages just show how much ppl have that they are trying to get rid off.

Yes - ofc the pages will increase the first weeks - now we all can have like 12 * 30 items for sale instead of only 30 as before this VU.

Most interesting will be how it will goes after a month or so

Seems Calypso is the only one going strong.
 
expand the orders page to award contracts to traders

I agree that the orders page is the real key to planet resource trading. However it needs to be expanded. I am not going to risk PVP space unless I know for sure that I can sell my resources at a nice markup on the other side. There is an easy fix to this.

improve the order system to award contracts, an agreement between the order creator and the trader that locks in the price as long as its delivered within a certain time frame. I see it working like this. A trader goes to the order page finds an order with a MU that he likes. selects a button that creates a contract that has the defaults that the order creator specified when the order was created. This is where the expected time of delivery could be set or maybe even tiers the MU rate depending on how fast the contract is fulfilled. if the trader accepts the terms he is given the contract.

in order to keep traders honest and prevent one trader from grabbing all the orders even if he can't fulfill them you can allow the contract to specify a minimum trader reputation level. Each successful trade increases your rep while each failed contract decreases it back to ZERO. Maybe even have the amount of resources traded effect how much of a reputation boost you get.

To start no one would have any rep as a trader. however if they trade on the local planet they will get the rep needed to run the more lucrative ventures.

A simpler and more reliable method would (IMO) be to give the contrac issuer the ability to set a collateral. So if you accept a contract you have to pay the collateral fee. If you fullfill the contract in time you get your collateral back. If not the the contract issuer gets your collateral.

You're basically asking for a futures market....which is highly regulated in most jurisdictions.

MA already has had to rip out the stock trading terminals...remember those? MA has not received a banking license as of yet...they are going to retry. Lastly, MA announced and IPO some time back with the restriction that no shares would be offered in the U.S. because <could not/chose not to> meet the requirements of the U.S. exchanges.
