Question on skilling spacecraft pilot

So what is the best way to raise this skill?

and some other questions that might answer the first:

Do you have to be a pilot of a mothership or can you just use a quad.

When you use your vehicle, what is it you need to do, shoot mobs, get shot at by pirates, etc?

Would you gain any skills related to spacecraft pilot if were just a gunner on a MS?

Hey

You skill pilot by gaining damage. Avoidance can be gained through it, its kinda like the dodge/evade of space.

You can skill it on a quad, but being L you would soon break your quad, also it would be extremely time consuming as you would have to repair and head back to the mobs every time.

So in effect the only way to skill it properly, is on a large space ship.

Ideally, you would like people to be repairing for all the damage that "you" are taking. This way the ship will not blow up and be sent back to the station.

The more damage you can take, the better the skill gains. So in essence the larger the ships SI, the more damage it can take. Also the larger the repair crew, the more damage it will take.

Each mob has to be trained slightly differently, using a different technique which can be learned. Also mobs soon stop giving skills, so have to be shot ( ideally) or de-agroed, which is bad etiquette in space as those mobs will sit with no skills for a while for some poor hapless soul to try to collect.

Yes you do get captain skills as well as gunner when shooting the MS guns .

You gain things like Space craft systems, which are a contributing skill to the profession of Captain.

What you do not get however is the dodge/evade skill of Space craft pilot, the gunners also do not get avoidance etc.

So although some of the gunner/pilot skill over lap, they each have their own set too.

Can also be turreted at a space station, if you got no gunners.

Reminds me of lonely weeks of being an one-man-army on Saratoga. Flying, repairing, flying, repairing...
