Re-installed EU but... no updates?

From where did you install that? And when?
I recommend you uninstall it and install 10.3.0.36270 directly from here:
http://dlmirror.entropiauniverse.com/entropia_universe_10.3.1/entropia_universe_10.3.0.36270_setup.exe
(2.95 GB)
The Updates in between 10.0 and 10.3 caused additional trouble, so you are better off when you skip them this way.

hmm is that the 10.3 patch that took hours to download?
if it is. i still had it on my comp from previous. and installed it.
i still got the same error i had thismorning before i uninstalled.

Nope, that's the new huge download MA made because of all the issues with the updates - obviously not yours, because you'd end up at 10.3.something after installation.
But as you are not downloading it with 1000 others at the same time now it should be quite fast.

Yes this is a BIG problem. Because we are installing 10.0 as if we were new players.
If I never played entropia, i would say to myself "I'm going to wait until these people get their act together"
How in the world does a product expect you to pay top dollar when it is this faulty

Downloaded new patch. Firewall made it so that when I clicked lauch in clientloader I got the message, could not find entropia.exe. Short story had to dl a new version over night.
Logged on after disabling firewall, accidently pulled out power, relogged after restart forgetting I may need to disable firewall, had the same dam problem.
Is there anyway I can get it working without having a 8 hour download.
This really isnt good enough.
