I just had a funny conversation with the support staff:

Hi,

At http://download.entropiauniverse.com/ I see the following three files among others:

Update_10.0.7.29368-10.0.8.29698.exe 04-Sep-2009 11:33 429M
Update_10.0.7.29368-10.0.8.29700.exe 08-Sep-2009 17:04 460M
Update_10.0.8.29698-10.0.8.29700.exe 04-Sep-2009 17:08 395M

By guessing from the filenames I'm thinking that I don't need the first and third file. Is that correct? If so it would be nice if you could remove the useless files.

We recommend you to download the Entropia Universe software from our official website http://www.planetcalypso.com/home/.

Hi,

your answer hasn't got anything to do with my question.

If you'd check my access log you'll notice that I haven't been playing for a while and only accessed the character creation screen in the recent attempts. It doesn't make sense to play with a fully black avatar, right?

Once I get a hardware update I'll need all those patches and I definitely won't wait for hours until the patches come in slowly one after another and then take some more time to install. If you'd check how the updates work you'd see that all patches are downloaded first before any of those updates is actually installed. That would not be possible for me anyway as all those patch files are saved in the temp-folder of the OS and that space is limited.

Therefore, I'm downloading them as you publish them and store them somewhere else with plenty of space left.

After all the patches are installed the status is the same anyway, right?

Feel free to start a discussion about patch distribution with the development/design team (e.g. I strongly suggest that you install a patch as soon as it's fully downloaded to save time and free up some space), but for now please answer my question. Thanks.

Hi,
Unfortunately we do not have any information about this web page "http://download.entropiauniverse.com/", for patches and new updates you can check it on the Entropia Universe official web page http://www.planetcalypso.com/home/.
However, if it is a trust site for you, you have to check exactly which version of the game you have installed on your pc, and about the question you are right if you are on version 10.0.7.29368 you only need to install the second one.
Kind regards,
Entropia Universe Support

There you have it: you better not trust the stuff and info on entropiauniverse.com and its subdomains...
And don't forget: the support page is on account.entropiauniverse.com

where does it say you shouldnt trust the domain? anyway, we'll probably see more of this sort of thing as First Planet (providing the support) is seperated from Mindark.

Haha :)

Afaik the support is on MindArk side and isn't going on to FPC side. Support is part of EUSO AB, a subsidiary within the MindArk Group.

Well, they didn't write it out but it's between the lines. I read it like "Eww... what an odd site, never heard about it. If you trust it, do what you want but I wouldn't do anything there.".

I don't really care if the support staff is outsourced or not. I'm only asking for competent response that explains something or helps me out in any way. Among the competence I consider knowing certain companies and thus certain websites of them, especially when they are related to EU. This is important when MA wants to expand their platform.

It's like in five years from now you may get a response that the support person has never heard of FPC and considers them a virus spreading spam site or something. I'm obviously assuming that FPC is still up and running in five years but I don't have any doubts about that.

im sure i saw somewhere that the planets do first line, in particular relating to planet related issues, MA/EUSO does second line onwards. ie it might not always be MA/EUSO logging the ticket.
