Thark's Hunters Log

My returns are more stable and closer to what I expect in the short term when I hunt less common mobs in less common areas. If there’s a lot of competition I just don’t do well. But I’ve never had a hunting hof over 2k so who knows.

Just grind 4-8h one type mobs avoiding those with very low % in this day/period. After this start to looking for another mobs, with good/better %. Repeat this for a week and share the result about rare items and TT return.


92.5% TT-Return after 120k Ped cycled. Thats just not sustainable even short term really!

Lets add some Info from the first half on June 2021:

Overall results June 1st - 14th 2021 (14 days of hunting) :

  • Total Costs: 119.077,30
  • Defensive Costs (included above): 2822,17 (2,37%)
  • Total TT Return: 110.225,25 (92,57%)
  • Total Markup: +475,99 (includes Shrapnel at 101% and Enhancer MU)
  • Total: -8.376,06

I like your portfolio because it is close to me. Hunting without mining and crafts or trade.

The careless long hunt of a mob, because there is a good MU prey, expecting that after 10 o'clock there will be retribution for your loss of TT, has not worked in the last year. I'm a little above your skills ~ 30/20/20, but when I'm looking for a crowd with a better % return for the day, very often I don't even have a TT loss or is very low.

The weapons are 60-70% effective and the difference I see from the effectiveness is only in MU's loot. Personally, with your setup, I would focus on a mob with a max of 2000-2100 HP to have more kills per hour. Looter's levels are not high enough for me to take risks like you, so this would be my choice.

Maybe if you follow the first example I gave you the TT will be about 98%. It's just that Looter's levels are low and we need to be more careful. Small losses now come from routine, and with expensive weapons 2.0 and Looter's high level, they seem to just give more peace of mind through the higher minimum loss. But again, I wouldn't trust that completely until I'm level 90-100.

Look for which mob does not have a low cap for the day. That is, those that give frequent mines and normal global. Don't look for your loss from a mob that is hungry... just look for it in another mob.

Avoid Cyrene's hunt with this uber Looter behavior, because it is very likely that your minimum is even below 80%.

The good % return in the long run is due to better daily performances. Do not count on the system to compensate you in a month or two.

If you don't use DMG enhancers in this weapon fit, but accuracy enhancers even low HP mobs should be on the focus.

Hey, update for June!

Still at 91.46% TT-Return after 225k Ped cycled! Thats just not sustainable even short term really!

June 2021:

Overall results June 1st - 30th 2021 (26 days of hunting):

  • Total Costs: 225.799,74
  • Defensive Costs (included above): 6232,08 (1,26%)
  • Total TT Return: 206.516,66 (91,46%)
  • Total Markup: 9.885,08 (includes Shrapnel at 101% and Enhancer MU + unL Armor)
  • Total: -9.398,00
TT calculations are straight forward: Buy Ammo/Convert Shrapnel and write down the amount. Hunt until ammo is gone or weapon needs repairing. Subtract left over ammo from original amount and add repair costs. Put all the loot into TT and write down the amount. Everything should be unL, so TT-wise after the hunt is before the hunt except for TT-Loss/Profit.
Exception: Enhancers, which will have their TT costs added to a single run, when I buy them.

Shrapnel "MU" will be added immediately after the hunt to the separate MU calculation. Other Markup will be calculated as it comes in, e.g. I stock animal oils until a decent stack can be auctioned, or pvp-traded. Auction costs will be subtracted from the earned MU. Enhancer MU costs will be calculated together with the earned MU. This may result in a negative MU number.

You’ll get your kickback. Your skills and equipment aren’t really enough to compete even with me on moloch or migration mobs, and I’m hardly middle of the pack. Your returns will stabilize, but likely you won’t be balanced out before someone with 90 eff and 80 looter.

Trust the system and keep grinding out markup. You should get to 96.5-97% with that setup longterm. don’t spend ANY markup. I.e. stop buying L amps and L faps. UL everything and keep shooting. Worst case you end up in the 96% range due to lower eff.

And as far as "keep grinding" goes, Im not so sure I want to for too much longer tbh. I'll give this another month but losing 2k$ is simply not fun. I cant expect to loot 1-2 unL 10k items every month to offset that. And since then, TT-return has gone down even more. I thought the "new Loot 2.0" system might be fun to come back to and lose a little (~4%), maybe figure out some MU mob and be happy, but this is just stupid. Barely 92% makes me wanna quit.

Also, I dont think the System has any "kickbacks"/"balancing mechanism"/"what-ever-you-call-it". Its a lottery-style, multiplier-/category-based style system. So to me this feels like saying: yeah keep playing the lottery, eventually you're gonna get the 6 of 49 right. While technically correct, Im not sure thats why I wanna play. I dont reeaaaallly love the gambling aspect of PE, yeah its a fun thing on the side but having to rely on 1.000x multipliers to get me to 96% doesnt appeal to me. Because that also indirectly means, that I need to stick to one size of mob. Id much rather be moving around killing different mobs depending on my mood sometimes. Especially just for funzies between my main grindy mobs.

Obviously thats just my theory and we needn't discuss this here please :) We have plenty of theory-crafting threads around and Im always happy to read those too and play with you guys there!

Edit: Forgot to address the MU thing. Uhmm, well Mayhem Amps are kinda nice. ~60ish Peds in MU for a long long use is ok im my book. If I needed 15 of those per month and their MU is all I lost, I'd be fine with that. Also: since, in the overview I posted, you only see the TT return and bottom line with MU, it may seem odd but most of the negative MU went into damage enhancers. Im not quite sure Im gonna keep using those during my normal hunts, but for at least another month I will. Only thing Im def gonna cut out are L faps, still on the look out for what I need on that front tho, cant seem to find an UnL one that I like :)

Don't trust the system because the game works differently than last summer. Long hunting runs work differently from the advice you receive.

At the moment we are overwhelmed by the system to look at every stage where the good% for the day is. Even after 2-3 months, your result will not be different if you do not improve it or do not rely on luck for a very large multiplication.

I guess this new MA policy was built because of the abuse of the Codex at the very beginning and because of the boters of 24/7. Therefore, if you do not take care of your result yourself, the system will not do it.

If the mark-up does not currently cover your losses, it will not be enough throught next year, until Looter level rises above 50-60.

So, just invest 200k and you'll get rich!! Really! You will! Just cycle enough and you'll drive a ferrari in no time!

Sorry for being sarcastic here, but don't we all (except those happy few uber FEN-ers) just lose all the time?

If you want to keep shooting, it's a pay to play game. Plain and simple.
Forget those 20 players who only profit. They're a rare exception.
And they only profit because they already spend hundreds of thousands of ped to get there.

Forget bankroll management, forget FEN weapons, forget about all that nonsense.
It's all about EXPECTATIONS management!
Just expect to get 80% back. And you'll be happy when you get 90%+.
When you expect 95% return, you'll just get more miserable every day.

Make up your losses with some deed income and you'll be fine.
Or go reselling (like most uber FEN-ers do as well) and make tons of money by inflating prices with promises of golden mountains for the items you sell.


Sorry to hear about your loss mate, but I can guarantee you, you're not the only one!

I hope you get LUCKY and get a real nice hof to compensate your losses a bit. But don't hold you breath until you get one...

I didnt expect people to be so interested in this log! Several people even PMed me ingame and asked when I was gonna update it. I promise I'll get to it soon, hopefully this weekend. I know its not that much work but last month has been annoying at work and usually I dont feel like thinking much when I get home. I still record my runs and sales and stuff but I also hunted a bit less, stupid RL and work in particular xD

Im close to 400k cycled PEDs since starting the log but Im still hanging around 91%. I havent sold much either, so my MU looks worse than it probably is. Also just because I hate trade chat, and selling on auction and stuff so I just threw everything into storage. Im on vacation soon tho so mayble I'll start selling off some MU.

I'll get to it soon, and the log is not dead for now!

  • Defensive Costs (included above): 1905,85 (1,13%)
  • Total TT Return: 152.983,52 (90,39%)
  • Total Markup: 1.638,59 (includes Shrapnel at 101% and Enhancer MU but I havent sold much this month - too bussy)
  • Total: -14.725,76

Short word from me about this: I started doing Gorgon Wave in the beginning of the month but then I wanted to do migration too and maybe see some other planets. Make of that what you will but nothing really seemed to make a big difference TT-wise. Markup is very low this month, not because I didnt get any but since I didn't really sell anything besides some adjusted Nanites, ESIs and the random Wool/Oil/Comps when asked if I had any. Maybe adding 6k or so in MU might be realistic.

I also feel like something has to be wrong here. I have double and tripple checked my methodology and found no errors, I hunted small and large mobs, no Land Areas nothing. At this point I kind of have to conclude that normal hunting setups simply have a TT return of 90-92%. Say I got an 8k HOF on the next mob, that would still only get me from 91.02% to 93.05%. Or maybe my avatar is somehow flagged by MA or I really am just so unlucky that I keep ending up on the very bottom of the bell curve. I personally simply think this is normal and what is intended by MA. I dont know why other people say otherwise, maybe most people don't track closely? To preemptively address the MU discussion about choosing the right mob. I am highly doubtful that there are mobs in this game that average a Loot MU of 109,89% (1/91%), which would be needed to break even after 91% TT Return. I feel like Gorgon Wave might be close (105-106%?), maybe mid lvl Eomon are kinda close but aside from that?

With my current setup i do earn a good profit
But its not worth the poor entertainment that the game offers
And if it wuld be about the money you culd Go apply for pizzaa delivery and earn more a month then the ubers in this game unless ur not from a poor country where 450 euro/usd/whatever is a living
 
During migrations it's best to run as far as possible from calypso it seems,according to your and many other people's logs.

Thank you for your interest. I was curious what robots you are refering to /hunting yourself but searching for "Naika" on Entropia Life turned up several "Isa Naika Prey" and the one with the largest total hunting amount had only 50k but was indeed hunting robots like troopers and stuff. Is that you? I cant go back further than one page on EL so I mostly saw troopers and Evis.

So you're saying those Troopers and Evis have a high MU? How come? I couldnt find anything interesting in their loot table except Nano adjusters, are those truly common enough to raise MU on them substantially? Btw. good MU in mobs doesn't mean they drop some amount of 103% Animal Oil, or the occasional Tier Comp for me. Thats simply not enough from my understanding and experience? Usually when we mean good MU mob we talk about stuff like Mushrooms (not anymore?), Bones (barely?), Fangs/Scales, Summer Boxes etc. Or is that different in your experience?

Just to show my thinking: If I hunt LT Stalkers with 5000 HP that costs me 15.15Ped to kill. At 92% tt Return that means i get back 13.93 on avg so I lose about 1.21Ped each LT. Lets say they'd only drop Shrap and Boxes then I'd need about a box every third LongTooth even if I sold em at 3.6 down the road, to break even on them. I'll say right now that they dont drop much other MU and also that the occasional unL Armor part of weapon doesnt add much MU if one considers the low drop rate. So basically IF every third LT droped a box, I'd be golden. Now, at 98% tt-return what ever some people claim, that calculation turns up needing a box every 12!! mob to make them profitable. Which indeed, I do get more boxes than every 12th LT.

I dont reeaaaallly love the gambling aspect of PE, yeah its a fun thing on the side but having to rely on 1.000x multipliers to get me to 96% doesnt appeal to me.

I don't hunt at your level. But I have been carefully tracking crafting returns on EP1 and EP2 blueprints for almost 300K clicks. It does go like that in that situation. I watch my TT return chart drift down and down, then every 30K - 40K clicks, a 1000x hit brings me back to the other side of 95% return.

The point I'm making here is that the thing to focus on, in my opinion, isn't PED cycled, but loot events. And it takes an enormous number of them to get that big loot that returns you to expected long ( very long ) term TT returns.

So you're saying those Troopers and Evis have a high MU? How come?
Troopers drop a fair amount of Weapon grips, with MU of 107% - 110% depending on the demand. The Nano Adjusters don't seem to drop enough to overcome TT loss.

I'll have to try troopers then. Tho I do suspect that weapon grips will make up a smallish % of total loot, even if they made up 20% that would drop the MU to 102% but I shall try!

To the loot events: Last update I had killed roughly 33.250 mobs. Im too lazy right now to do a full count of the mobs since then but since the gorgon wave mobs are fairly small for most of the waves and because I did a fair amount of small mobs in between I suspect about the same amount this period. But lets say 50k total to be on the safe side. I will calculate a rough total number for the next update. But yeah, lets hope that 1.000 multiplier comes from a Longtooth and not some tiny mob I kill inbetween :p

Yeah thats me Trecker does just tell people how many globals you had but not your mu loot :D

The nanos drop in good amount, there are a few diferent ones,
Generic fuses,grips and filters, some limited weapons and armors
Predator somewhat with high tt and let me lie now 125 % on the predator !?
Also ul parts of weapons and armors
Yes try them and let me know how you like it :) also take a look on theyr codex rewards
 
Hey, Halloween Mayhem 2022 Update!

Went pretty well! Tho I did get 3 Hofs so that helped a lot!

Halloween Mayhem 2022:

Overall results Okt 27th - Nov 5th 2022 (Redulite done):

  • Total Costs: 131893,24
  • Total TT Return: 129784,61 (98,40%)
  • Total Markup: -103,05 (includes Shrapnel at 101%, Enhancer MU and Amps, not much to sell really)
  • Total: -2211,69
  • 1541 Boxes, 7539 Token, 5k Hof and 2x 1k Hofs
TT calculations are straight forward: Buy Ammo/Convert Shrapnel and write down the amount. Hunt until ammo is gone or weapon needs repairing. Subtract left over ammo from original amount and add repair costs. Put all the loot into TT and write down the amount. Everything should be unL, so TT-wise after the hunt is before the hunt except for TT-Loss/Profit.
Exception: Enhancers, which will have their TT costs added to a single run, when I buy them.

Shrapnel "MU" will be added immediately after the hunt to the separate MU calculation. Other Markup will be calculated as it comes in, e.g. I stock animal oils until a decent stack can be auctioned, or pvp-traded. Auction costs will be subtracted from the earned MU. Enhancer MU costs will be calculated together with the earned MU. This may result in a negative MU number.

Went very nicely with those hofs! Not sure I wanna continue much longer after redulite, but we'll see.

Hey, update since August 2021!

Still at 93.00% TT-Return after 1.1Mil Ped cycled! It's still silly. As always, check first post for complete overview.

Since Aug 2021:

Overall results Aug 1st 2021 - Nov 5th 2022 (More than a year of hunting):

  • Total Costs: 715.242,77
  • Defensive Costs: not closely tracked anymore, consistently below 1% tho!
  • Total TT Return: 674.448,22 (94,30%)
  • Total Markup: 4.4681,02 (includes Shrapnel at 101% and Enhancer MU but I havent sold much, kept all boxes, tokens etc.)
  • Total: -36.113,53

Look, it may have looked like I abandoned this, and I did, kinda, it was just too depressing to shout these results into the ether, but I kept tracking privately. But I cut back normal, non event hunting by 99%. Returns just over 90% are just stupid and I cant justify the cost. I feel its unreasonable to have to cycle 20 mil Ped to get to get to a decent Looter level all the while losing 10% of what you cycle, thats $100k to lose, to then lose less. You may think I was on a down swing, but if the down swings are that big, at least half a million cycled peds, than that still leaves me with the same conclusion. I Also didnt keep track of MU sold as closely as I did before, but aside from some smallish Wool/Oil sells or some L weapons from random mobs, there wasn't anything major anyway. Most MU would've come from Mayhem boxes which I kept, or Tokens which I'm stockpiling. Soo, yeah. Maybe add a few k for that MU.

I also changed a few things in my setup. New gun, new fap, new armor see the changes below.

Hey, update since August 2021!

Still at 93.00% TT-Return after 1.1Mil Ped cycled! It's still silly. As always, check first post for complete overview.

Since Aug 2021:

Overall results Aug 1st 2021 - Nov 5th 2022 (More than a year of hunting):

  • Total Costs: 715.242,77
  • Defensive Costs: not closely tracked anymore, consistently below 1% tho!
  • Total TT Return: 674.448,22 (94,30%)
  • Total Markup: 4.4681,02 (includes Shrapnel at 101% and Enhancer MU but I havent sold much, kept all boxes, tokens etc.)
  • Total: -36.113,53
TT calculations are straight forward: Buy Ammo/Convert Shrapnel and write down the amount. Hunt until ammo is gone or weapon needs repairing. Subtract left over ammo from original amount and add repair costs. Put all the loot into TT and write down the amount. Everything should be unL, so TT-wise after the hunt is before the hunt except for TT-Loss/Profit.
Exception: Enhancers, which will have their TT costs added to a single run, when I buy them.

Shrapnel "MU" will be added immediately after the hunt to the separate MU calculation. Other Markup will be calculated as it comes in, e.g. I stock animal oils until a decent stack can be auctioned, or pvp-traded. Auction costs will be subtracted from the earned MU. Enhancer MU costs will be calculated together with the earned MU. This may result in a negative MU number.

Look, it may have looked like I abandoned this, and I did, kinda, it was just too depressing to shout these results into the ether, but I kept tracking privately. But I cut back normal, non event hunting by 99%. Returns just over 90% are just stupid and I cant justify the cost. I feel its unreasonable to have to cycle 20 mil Ped to get to get to a decent Looter level all the while losing 10% of what you cycle, thats $100k to lose, to then lose less. You may think I was on a down swing, but if the down swings are that big, at least half a million cycled peds, than that still leaves me with the same conclusion. I Also didnt keep track of MU sold as closely as I did before, but aside from some smallish Wool/Oil sells or some L weapons from random mobs, there wasn't anything major anyway. Most MU would've come from Mayhem boxes which I kept, or Tokens which I'm stockpiling. Soo, yeah. Maybe add a few k for that MU.

I also changed a few things in my setup. New gun, new fap, new armor see the changes below.

  • Added FAP: Fast Aid Pack 2350 modified
  • Added: Camo Arms BGH (Tier 3 now)
  • Almost always use Mayhem Amps
  • Summer 18 Ring

with that looter level and efficiency you should be right around 96% tt long term.
 
yeah 36k, the dot is meant as a thousands separator. I may have a typo somewhere tho, where did you see 36 ped? I can fix it! :lift:
