The Port Atlantis VCC Rally has been created as a free and accessible community event for all.

Please be sure to register in advance by posting your full avatar name and vehicle color/texture (if any) on this thread.

Deadline for entry is 17:00MA the day of the event, January 23, 2010.


The city of Port Atlantis is a convenient location for all who wish to participate in or observe this event. As the area around Port Atlantis is non-PVP, there will be no worries of other individuals "interfering" with the race. In addition, the small creatures in the vicinity do little damage if they do happen to attack a vehicle as it passes by.

Contestants may only use the Valkyrie MK1 vehicle for this event. The Valkyrie MK1 is relatively affordable compared to most other land vehicles, gets excellent gas mileage, and is also faster than most other land vehicles.

The entire circuit can be completed once in approximately 12 minutes, using less than ten oil!!!
(for you penny pinchers, that works out to about 0.20 ped, or 2 cents...) :)

Rules and Information:


Depending on the total number of participants, the VCC Rally will be run in heats of 2-4 vehicles per run, with the winner of each heat advancing to the next stage of the competition.

In order to run effectively, I will need at least one volunteer to help monitor the finish line and document the winner of each heat. An additional two or three race officials (non-participants) stationed at various waypoints throughout the race would also be very helpful in monitoring the contestants as they travel along the course.



  • All contestants must participate in a Valkyrie MK1. No other vehicles will be allowed to participate in the VCC Rally.

  • All contestants are expected to stay on the course and navigate the appropriate checkpoints as listed in the course information. For obvious reasons, shortcuts and/or teleporting are discouraged. :)
    Failure to stay on the course (taking shortcuts, teleporting, etc.) may result in disqualification.

  • If you flip your vehicle or get stuck, you must pick up your Valkyrie to place it back into your inventory and then re-spawn it on the course route. In the event you fall off the cliff and into the ocean during in the northern coastal portion of the rally, you will most likely need to teleport out which will disqualify you from the heat.

  • All event information at base camp will be communicated by VCC Rally Officials through the Trade Channel.

  • Heats will be in 5 minute intervals. Contestants will be assigned to a heat, and will be expected to line up and spawn their vehicles on the starting line 3 minutes before the heat begins.

  • All contestants will receive start warnings in the Trade Channel 30 seconds and 10 seconds prior to the beginning of each heat.

  • To simplify the start of each heat, participants will "GO!" when a rocket launcher explosion is set off.

  • Winner of each heat will be the first to cross the finish line. Winners will advance to the next round. This single elimination tournament structure will continue until only three contestants remain for the final race to determine 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

  • Practicing the race route prior to the event is strongly encouraged. Official guided practice runs of the VCC Rally Course will be held at 17:00 and 21:00 MA on the day prior to the event, Saturday January 22, 2010.

Preliminary Heat Information​



  • Last digit of your registration number is your preliminary heat number.

  • Please be at the start line when called, all times are approximate.

  • Racers will be called to the line 4 minutes before start.

  • Racers will spawn and line up their MK1 Valkyrie 2 minutes before start.

  • To reduce lag, please DO NOT spawn vehicles until instructed to do so!

  • The top two racers from each heat will advance to the semi-finals.

  • There will be four rounds of 5 racers each for the semis, top racer will advance to the finals.

  • The final race will be the top 4 racers battling it out for the prizes!!!

It will be difficult to do both... but thanks. ;)

Besides, I heard what you said when I saw you at the teleporter, I wanna hear about you driving off the northern cliffs after havin' a few of your namesake. :laugh:
 
Well I torched my car (actually, it was the Troxes who did it - who taught those buggers to make molotov cocktails?) but if I get another one in the meantime and I'm available then I'll give this a try.

Hey mate. Nice event. Hope you get some good prizes for it.

Advice: I strongly encourage to get other people to watch for who finishes. 2 at least I would think. Lag, or a random CTD can cause a whole range of issues (I know this from it happening to me when running races). Plus you don't want to be dealing with who won a particular heat whilst you are trying to organise the people for the next one.

Great idea on two people at the finish, I'll definitely consider that depending on how many officials I can rustle up... thanks very much for the suggestion! :cool:

I've decided to be an official for this as I may be donating some ped prizes toward this. Btw I timed the track myself, anyone racing under 10:30 will be thought off as cheating, this seems to be the optimum time for the track. With other races and actually racing on the track features such as designated cliffs, speed bumps & mobs this should be a lot of fun :). GL to all who race on the day.

Thanks for offering your time as an official, Mark! I also appreciate you double-checking the course run time today, and I'd have to agree that any time faster than 10 minutes 30 seconds on the VCC Rally course would be questionable.

I also agree that the designated course with its cliffs and bumps should be entertaining and challenging. :yup:
