To MA's marketing team, if indeed there actually is one.

Technically (and probably for accounting purposes), the banner ads we see on Youtube are for Planet Calypso.

Those banners could easily be improved... at the moment, they look more like virtual-porn-game than what Entropia actually is. Having an atrox or argonaut instead of the blonde would probably be more appropriate.

I think a better campaign would revolve around the idea of Entropia being an alternate reality and your avatar is an alter-ego... similar to what Neverdie has been preaching for years (I am my avatar), and without hiding the realities of EU... something like:

Real money, Real profit, Real losses. How will you fare?

Agreed ...great "Real money, Real profit, Real losses. How will you fare?" :wise:

Faceof is Dynamic...;)
Faceof...

...it would get on the mainstream radar very quickly. If that happens, either governments start banning it like the poker sites in the past, and like the fantasy sports gambling is today, OR worse, someone who has really deep pockets makes a better version.
MA keeps a low profile, tries to stay under the radar. Right, got it!

Explains why they bought a castle in Germany few years ago... :smoke:

Agreed with Taco's conclusion , that MA dont want to bring in game alot of players but alot of investors/quality ppls who like more to invest and socialize in virtual worlds , but...also in this side if u check it carefully MA DONT or CANT better things/advertises...!!!:scratch2:

Afraid or something await first???:scratch2:

Anyway for me its not huge player base the most important but the quality of player base!!!:wise:

Its RCE after all ...so quality is the major concerns /objectives of EU...

Faceof is Dynamic...;)
Faceof...

And by quality you mean people that love flushing hundred dollar bills down the toilet.

You very wrong with that ...my soc leaders dont deposit and play the game...that i mean quality (QUALITY ITS NOT ONLY THE RICH PPLS WHO BUYS VAST NUMBERS OF DEEDS AND VIRTUAL ITEMS!!!...) , to not deposit but TRY/TRADE AND PLAY the game is the best and for new players , the worst is the players to get ingame and in first hour WANT TO WIN HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS WITHOUT PAY ANY $ !!!:banghead:

Anyway ...dont have to say more ...gets annoying...:wise:

Come on, man, I know I don't need to explain this to you... :)

Back then, they were operating at a massive loss...it didn't matter what radar they were on.

Now they have figured it out, scaled back, became self sufficient, sold half the company back to us, and don't want to lose a thing that is working for them.

They want it to grow slowly still, sure...a few snowflakes at a time...but they don't want an avalanche. Ever.

I have heard this story about MA's great concerns about being accused of gambling before.

My good friend Occam has a different theory. If something can be explained with ordinary human stupidity and incompetence then there's no need to look for aliens and global conspiracy.

As far as I can see incompetence, shortsightedness and plain stupidity are the only natural resources mankind has in truly unlimited supply. We should really figure out how to produce energy from this renewable resource. :wtg:

Trolling Warren Buffett with an Equus was clearly an attempt to stay below the radar, too. :wtg:

Ok then...besides buying a castle and trolling Warren Buffet (Lol this shit is crazier and crazier the more I think about it)

Lets start a list of things MA actually did to advertise this game and to utilize social media or twitch or youtube to hit that viral tipping point...

So far all I know is some banner adds and some press releases about big loots or sales that no one but us could find or read. That's 1.

Edit: In all honesty, I think that Compets will be what does it. We know that as soon as "x" number of people know about something, it goes viral. What "x" is, no one knows, but stuff like hearthstone and countless other games hit that point quickly...I really think Compets is our only chance....and I think MA does too. I am excited about it. I think it provides legitimacy, ties into EU enough to drag players over, and yet still keeps EU off the front burner and off the radar of the US and EU governments. By far the best way to advertise EU is to make a 100% legit game and quietly feed off that...

'Social' or 'viral' are quite vague terms.

I remember Arkadia somehow (probably not intentionally) managed to get on Zero Hedge. Lots of snarky comments, of course, but 25k reads.

Every time MA got a new marketing director, The PCF community got all excited sent them gratz, then no one ever heard from them again

so, you expect compet to be a 100% legit game, is that correct? Please do say if I misunderstand you there....

MA have stated that it will have a lot of similarities to the EU systems, which I also assume you think would not benefit from a high level of ermmmm 'attention being paid to them'.

Yes, a vastly higher concentration of player time will be on pvp, but it appears quests and non-pvp battles will be around too. Well, I do expect EU to be feeding off compets in more ways than one, yes, but on the topic of what level of 'fame' is good in the long term........ maybe EU is indeed better off staying below the radar in its little niche valley!

All I can say is I've noticed one mobile game featuring Clans has hired the Spectre boss to advertise heavily and I've even seen Arnie promoting another mobile game on British TV.

Those two actors, let alone the cost per second to advertise on terrestial TV wouldn't have come cheap.

I dont know how ComPets will play but mobile gaming seems to be the future for the Smartphone generation, and you really cant blame them for launching a game that fits in your pocket.

I think we may see adverts for ComPets after the initial bugs are worked out. ;)

Some times i do think, that MA don't want more players, about they then have to buy more and faster servers, electricity bills and so one. And with the super nice loot sytem for MA, they dont need to have more players to get a nice incomming. more pll in game also need more ppl working for MA, what lower the incoming.

Hopefully it is not like i said, but in some reason it looks like that. :)

It would be helpful for your argument if Apple actually prohibited gambling apps in its App Store.
Except .. they don't.

The App Store guidelines are found here: https://developer.apple.com/app-store/review/guidelines/
App Store guidelines said:
20. Contests, sweepstakes, lotteries, raffles, and gambling
20.1 Sweepstakes and contests must be sponsored by the developer/company of the App
20.2 Official rules for sweepstakes and contests must be presented in the App and make it clear that Apple is not a sponsor or involved in the activity in any manner
20.3 It must be permissible by law for the developer to run a lottery App, and a lottery App must have all of the following characteristics: consideration, chance, and a prize
20.4 Apps that allow a user to directly purchase a raffle ticket in the App will be rejected
20.5 Apps that offer real money gaming (e.g. sports betting, poker, casino games, horse racing) or lotteries must have necessary licensing and permissions in the locations where the App is used, must be restricted to those locations, and must be free on the App Store
20.6 Apps that use IAP to purchase credit or currency to use in conjunction with real money gaming will be rejected

The difficulty is more likely to have been with section 11 of the guidelines, concerning purchasing and currency.

At the time that the Virtual Tychoon app was developed, Apple did not permit apps that accepted transactions in virtual currencies (such as PED).

This guideline was changed in June 2014: http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-27680109
Note in particular these paragraphs from that article:
BBC.com said:
The policy change marks a significant shift for Apple, which before now has been aggressive in its policing of apps that use virtual currencies.
In late 2013 and early 2014 Apple took action against apps that used virtual cash even though many of the programs had been available on the store for months.
...
By contrast, Google has had a much more open policy, and there are now many Android apps that support different virtual currencies.
Note that, while the App Store guideline now reads:
App Store guidelines said:
11.17 Apps may facilitate transmission of approved virtual currencies provided that they do so in compliance with all state and federal laws for the territories in which the app functions
Apple has not yet published a list of which virtual currencies it considers to be "approved", and the only one I can find referenced is Bitcoin.

MA has it handled.

Doesn't this make you so proud to be an Entropian?

:yay:

2 words.

Nose job.

That is pretty much my first thought every time I see the ad.
That face looks like it once had a honker of a nose.

Appel, no thanks :) i use winphone and windows tablets, and wow, it is all compatible with my pc.

Appel is a pain in the a.. you pay much more for much less. And soon no mini jack for the sound port.. no thanks!

Hopefully MA develop the compet also for android and window. Sry Valentin, just my opinion :)

Thanx Serica, was just about to ask what's this new fairy tale made of? Well ofc it's made of the Magic Dust!

"Hello, my name is Valentin, I'm an addict and I feel shame every time I'm playing Entropia!"
C'mon, really? ;)

By the way, how are those uber magic swords in WoW dropping? It's a D&D dice roll, random event just like any HoF or uber item in EU. Except, items in EU have real cash value!

Try to keep that in mind next time when u go shopping on EBay...

We whould need some advertising videos on youtube. Them are cheaper than a TV spot and could reach the whole world with only one clip. Make it short enogh to be not counted out in 3 seconds.

It is quite logical that outsourced their advertising on youtube for they have probably thought that everyone goes out on youtube.

The problem is when you go out on youtube then it's just that you only want to avoid, and click it off immediately.

It had probably been better that they put their advertising where their targets is on various online game sites.

:twocents:

this is still my alltime favourite, how they should NOT advertise:

:lolup::lolup::lolup:

:dunce:

As a very rusty and out of date "Google AdWords Qualified Individual" I kinda get the idea behind advertising on YouTube and the benefits and process behind setting up video ads. In-stream and in-display would be a good way to get the EU message out subject to the targeting settings - and budget of course.

I don't like the existing ads I've seen as they've only involved the words "for mature gamers only" and a suggestive image which isn't what EU is about. Sex sells though, naturally.

Every time MA got a new marketing director, The PCF community got all excited sent them gratz, then no one ever heard from them again

So you are saying MA marketing directors are like drummers for Spinal Tap?

Maybe they should start a crowd-sourcing among EU players to finance some TV-commercials. :silly2:

Sad day for any MMO when the players are more interested in advertising/growing the game than the company itself.

Yeah, but I think it's mainly a money problem. If they had more money they would probably do it.

Hmm so lack of money made those terrible ads we see now, i could make a better banner in paint wearing a blindfold, :)
