"It's Dynamic" - they scream. Yes it is we all agree loot is dynamic. Tuesday was great 3 mini globals on Ostelok then 2 mid level globals on Kadra. I thought to myself here we go MA will want that back.

Wednesday not much hunting but had some fun and loot wasn't terrible

Thursday, out on some Oratans with my friend and appalling loot, switch to Kadra - appauling loot, try Scoria Appalling loot, get a healer and back out in team on even bigger Oratan Miners, very terrible loot.

In the end we disband the team and I think ok lets do Tiarak (i hunt them for the hides) - ok cycle 200 ped ammo (result 2 hides - yes 2 hides - and the rest of the loot sucks._ Sod this I am off to do carabok. I killed 150 odd carabok and total hide count for this endeavour - 2 carabok hide and trully awful loot.

In the end I go back to Quarry and just end up chatting with people. Then I spot the crafting global 170,000 ped which everyone is talking about and I start thinking, OK so everyone elses loot is crap cos of that very fat ATH. S

So i started watching the globals (on ArK) and they are there but wher they should be 100 - 300 ped they are like 60 ped each. So is this it, One big ATH and we all suffer crap loot for the next few days.

I am not saying its not fair, I did well at the start of the week and stopped when I realised the loot was terribe. My friend was not so lucky earlier in the week and he has had terrible loot as well. He became very despondent over the whole issue, which is understandable - did anyone else notice this or was it just us ?
 
I am in total agreement with what you are saying. I think I've lost every single run I've done in the past 3 days - I even lost with a 330ped hof in a 600ped run on spiders. It was the same for me when the 300k ath dropped. These "dry" periods around a big ath seem a risky policy to me: as I know of plenty of people who go and play another game and it usually takes them a few weeks before they come back.
 
Your logic is brilliant. The only problem is next week/month when there is no ATH and you got the same loot. What will you say is the reason then :scratch2:
 
agreed before and after big ath's there is extremely shitty loot regardless of profession the ath is in, silly and demotivating.
 
Would have agreed with OP if there wasn't another 25k on hof board after the ath?

Ps. we have good loot at times and bad loot, has to even out, it is to blame due to that ath, don't think so.

You have no data, you just say you had bad loot and someone had ATH.

Example of player like you: I had 100ped back on 300ped ammo run on ambus few days ago.. DAMN MINDARK WHY YOU TAKE MY PEDS???? Next day i had 300ped hof on 100ped ammo.. Hmm it must be me being very cool and smart hunter, but DAMN MINDARK for those small hofs it should be atleast 10k peds.

Stop whining.

Dunno, really. Don't want to sound overpositive, but during 3 hours right after the ATH I did three 300ped runs in a row on Traeskerons with 280% (3 globals), 130% (no globals) and 140% (1 global) tt return (and there were nice MU items like 2 leonis, 2 ep-52, etc), so the loot was still there. Also a couple of hours later had a quite positive 300 peds run on Maffoids and Harbingers (just running south from Corinth towards the crater until ran out of ammo), breaking even with a single 50ped global. Apparently it's still dynamic.

Just whine, no data. Arkadia has been the best planet for loot lately (at least for me). 7 profits in a row (you can check my logs at arkadia forum) totalling in +700 ped profit atm on TT return since I came here a few weeks ago.

And no hofs here for me, just generally just good loot.

You're obviously doing something wrong mate. And I ain't gonna tell you how to make it better, since you're just a whiner so GL.

Well on the 300k ath week I lost over 7000ped, this week I am over 3500ped down (over 3 days) - both comfortable my worst weeks of 2013-2014. Seems more than a coincidence?

I am sure there are plenty of exceptions to the rule, but during the above periods I highlight, the vast majority of people I spoke to was experiencing similar returns.

I don't see why this is whining. It is simple highlighting a connection between general returns and huge aths. And, as girts - the number 1 hunter in turnover? - has backed up the OP assertion, I don't see why it's whining.
 
If a player is cycling a decent amount of peds and experiencing something ridiculous like ~20-30% TT returns, then it's probably the loot pool at fault, and blaming the ATH is a reasonable assumption.

I'll go ahead and state the obvious. Maybe some players are getting positive returns after the ATH (or even a 25k HoF). That doesn't mean a great many players are not suffering much higher losses than usual... We can't know what's going on unless we gather and calculate the returns of every single player in EU.

It's unfortunate, because if ATHs dry up the loot pool, there's nothing we can do about it. People say "don't hunt during dry periods", but if everybody did that, the dry period would never end.

In fact, logically speaking, the MORE peds we all cycle after an ATH, the less everyone will feel the loss from the dry period, because the losses will be spread more thinly across the entire playerbase.

Such is the nature of a casino... deal with it.

It's Dynamic !! Just stop play when you have bad loot so after it you will not cry in forum :wtg::smoke:

The OP doesn't seem to be "whining" as some have said, but the thread's title could use a bit more work :)
Maybe "Worst loot always comes on ATH day/week" or something like that would fit better to what he had in mind when he started this thread.

And maybe ATH's do affect the overall loot, even in other professions.Some well respected and old players agree to that. However I need to remind you that for one to win 170k, 170 others have to lose 1k. Or 1700 others have to lose 100ped. And so on.
And that calculation doesn't even take into account what the winner has lost already before getting that ATH, I don't think he got it on the first click ;)

So do ATH's really have an effect in our loot ? probably.
Do we see that effect in our activity during the time the ATH dropped ? Not likely, unless you think there are only 170 players in the game at that time/day/week cycling ped.


P.S. Didn't MA state in previous Dev Notes that each profession has separate loot pools ?

Even if there is such thing as dry period you can make that statement only if you KNOW the dry period is linked to the peds cycled. It may be linked to time, deposits, MA hapiness or something else.

Well, an increase in PEDs being cycled can be strongly correlated to a spike in deposits.

Why would a passage of time by itself affect returns?

Also, you must have a very high opinion of MA's generosity :eyecrazy:

Not really when you have in mind some people deposit to buy CLD and other play with income from CLD and other withdraw. Was the ped cicling bigger when CLD were introduced for the first time?

not the return just the duration of the ''dry period'' if there is one. or it just can be one big 5 year ''dry period'' to acumolate for the last ATH.

Actualy yeah I believe they are close to charity organization, but that's not relevant to "dry periods""

RED FLAG!!! That trend is your clue to take a few days or a week off...

Always total junk loot when the swirlies dry up for everyone at once! :wise:
Don't try to power through it, hoping you'll be the special one to get loot while everyone else suffers!
(maybe 1/10 times you will be, but not worth it on average, better safe than sorry)

(those lulls in the loot happen regardless of whether there's an ATH or not)
 
Like 1000 times I depo a lot and i lose a few K ped or even 5k ped in a few hours, (one time i lost 5k ped in an hour exactly) but then sometimes, you do good and it is so fun!

when I do good and it's so fun... in the back of my mind I'm thinkin' about how they'll be making me pay for it later... when I lose 3K in an hour!...

you know it's comin... try to dodge it? :dunno:

just depo again and you'll be back on top in no time!!! :thumbup:

In my case I experienced the worst returns ever in my life one week ago. Constant hunting runs with 50-80 ped short just for the ammo burned! That is like 50% tt returns with extremelly eco L gear that I had maxed years ago!

In craft with 100% QR BP's I was also getting only 3 sucess's every 100 clicks (condition)!


They want to break all the records with this sucky loot algorithm... adjusted loot as they called it one year ago.


But in my view this will result in more unhappy players (aka stop playing or leaving) than the possible new players that this kind of advertise ATH's can bring.


You want numbers and evidences well all I can say is that my card at this moment shows zero peds! I think that this a clearly evidence no?
 
In order to win someone has to lose...Simple as that..
 
First time in EU i tried mindless grinding in hunting.. 2k atrox in last 3 days , 5-6 globals in those with highest one 250 or so and at least 150+ of them were nova's. Lost approx 2.5k peds in 3 days..

Quite clearly..not pleased..My fault though that i did not stop which i otherwise would have..

cycle more. ath was hit on crafting doesn't affect hunting and mining prof fyi gl

The ATH hasnt impacted loot after (though peoples reactions to it might have because of their incorrect views on loot).

If you were running a company that had something like an ATH you would have 2 ways of paying for it:

1) save up the money up front (build up a positive pot) and then pay out when you have enough to cover it. This is a low risk approach as you guarantee the funds to cover the payout.

2) pay out first, and then try to claw back the loot after (start in debt and hope you get enough income after to pay off the debt). This is a high risk approach as there is no guarantee you will get the funds back to cover what you have already paid out.

Ignoring the tin foil hat brigade, any sensible person would run it as option 1.

There may be a correlation of crap loot after an ATH but that would only be because say 40% of players think it does and therefore cycle a lot less post-ATH hoping others will "refill the pot" and it is this cycling less that impacts subsequent loot rather than the ATH directly which was paid for prior to the ATH being given.

The problem here is, people do stop playing after bad loot. Then they have nothing else to do but cry on forum. When they have good loot they carry on playing, no time to make a thread...

The solution is stop after that HOF or global when you are on profit and then go post on the forums :laugh:
Always stop after good loot, not after bad loot.
 
Why would mindark extract the peds for an ATH just a few days before and after it happen if they can just build it up slowly for weeks and months(years?) without us noticing much ? It seem a bad idea from a buissnes point of viev for mindark to collect ATH monney on a very short timeframe.

Sometimes i have very bad runs while everyone global left and right off me and it dosnt matter what mob i chase and other days i global like mad while everyone else complain about horrible loots. Sometimes a Mob or a Location is dry and sometimes it feels like youre on a personal dry streak but over a longer time the returns look pretty much stable. Indeed they are so stable for me at least that i wonder myself sometimes how much "luck" is involved in this loots other from getting items with extraordinary MU.
