PROJECT ENTROPIA VERSION UPDATE 7.7
2005-11-01

*** PLEASE READ THIS DOCUMENT IF YOU FIND SOMETHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY IN PROJECT ENTROPIA! IT MIGHT PROVIDE THE INFO YOU NEED BEFORE CONTACTING PROJECT ENTROPIA SUPPORT! ***

VERSION UPDATE FEATURES

Furniture manufacturing
A new area of manufacturing has been added – furniture making.

Storage manufacturing
Avatars can manufacture various kinds of storage boxes.

New skills added
New skills used when manufacturing boxes and furniture have been added.

Ancient items
Old "Pre-Gold" items in existence in the Project Entropia universe at the time of version update has been permanently changed into "Ancient" items, meaning they can be used and repaired and still keep their stats.

Attachments update
All old bugged "non-decaying" attachments fixed.

Trade Terminals restocked
The weapon supply in the Trade Terminal replaced with newer and better counterparts.

Critical hits
Added the chance of scoring critical hits in Project Entropia. Both avatars and creatures have the ability and it is based on skill levels. Critical hits can result in increased damage or armor penetration (the armor does not absorb any part of the damage received).

Changes to armor system
The armor durability system updated. Now, only one durability value is shown for all kinds of damage. The armors TT value does not influence its decay rate when hit. The higher the Durability stat is, the more abuse your armor can withstand. Armor condition influences the amount of protection offered. A critical hit which penetrates your armor means your armor does not reduce the damage done in the attack at all. It will still decay though. The amount of decay is based on attack type and the amount of damage dealt. Decay only occurs when an armor can protect for the kind of damage – if a creature deals acid damage onto a armor that doesn't protect against acid, no decay is rendered.

Future advertising system trial
You may have seen the large Hall of Fame entries recently. These have in no way changed the number or the value of lower end loots. A new system is in development, which will enable us to distribute revenues generated by ingame advertising to the colonists of Calypso. To make things interesting this revenue will generate higher level HoF-entries such as the ones seen lately. Ingame advertising will be introduced within a few VU's and the testing of the addon looting system is ongoing in Project Entropia and will remain in place until the advertising system is fully operational. Anyone who wish will have the opportunity to disable the advertising feature, this action will result in the colonist receives normal loot levels as before.

Updates to auction
The auction shows more information, as more columns has been added to the main view, including buyout price, differences between TT and current bid, etc. There is also more information available as tooltips if you hold the mouse cursor over a section or headline in the interface.

Added The Entropian to the auction
The official Project Entropia real life magazine is added to the Project Entropia auction, both as a single issue as well as a subscription choice.

New Water look
The visual style of the water in the seas, oceans and rivers is updated.

Furnishing hallways update
In some house types it were impossible to place furniture in the hallway, this is now rectified.

Robot space ship updates
More kinds of robot ships have been spotted.

Added feedback bars when dropping
When dropping an item more feedback is presented.

Quickbar Actions added
New Action icons added, to interact with the Message center and Tutorial messages.

Quickbar help enhanced
Added more information about how the Quickbar works, in the Help section of the Quickbar.

Port Atlantis upgraded
Port Atlantis has received an extensive face-lift.

New music
Plenty of new music added for various areas and situations.

Added feedback in Map interface
Added more feedback in the map section, with more detailed text and pictures.

Added more stats to items
Some items have more stats presented when looking at them in Items Info, most noticeable is the Attacks per minute stat on weapons.

Creatures has been to boot camp
The Calypso creatures have been to boot camp, meaning they now show more variance to hit probability and the amount of damage they inflict.

New client options
New Client Loader options added to the client to allow for a wider range of PC configurations.

New creatures
Scientists say new life forms have been detected on Calypso.

Focus charges protects while sweating
A Mindforce Focus now protects while sweating.

Anti-Toxic shot
An applied Anti-Toxic shot is only removed if another avatar in a contaminated area kills you.

Learning bonus
Made the feedback in the items info more detailed in regards to the Learning bonus system.

Tutorial system upgrades
More areas added to the tutorial system.

Friends list
The maximum number of Friends on the Friends list is increased, from 40 to 80.

Land Area info
A land owner may set a custom welcome message to a land area, which is shown to everyone who enters it.

Fixed bugged items
Fixed a bugged melee weapon – the whips minimum damage is adjusted to the correct level.

General items added
A number of other items added to expand the range of items in Project Entropia.

Advertising System

Wow

This VU looks great :)

WOW VERY nice job MA - cant see many ppl whining about this release :)

Looks ok I guess :yup:

Except I still think they screwed a bunch of players with that ancient stuff, but that was the past I guess and I voiced my opinion on it many times already.

Fixed bugged items
Fixed a bugged melee weapon – the whips minimum damage is adjusted to the correct level.

^^^^

Only negative one I saw...

I CAN HAVE MORE FRIENDS NOW .. my wishlist came true

 MARCO thx

watch out for them crit hits, they hurt, i got nailed by a trox guard for 157

but did they change the decay rate on armor? like is all decay the same now? im not understanding the change in that

This is by far the best VU I've ever seen.

WELL DONE MA !!!!

All that stuff about advertising and switching the loots lower if you dont want to see the advertising is brilliant - and may I add... looks a hell of a lot like what us (the players) were suggesting previously.

The only concern I have is that a creature can do a critical hit on me... and I'll die.... however.. I have the same chance... someone told me he did 330+dmg with his ML35 and Dante on a critical hit... :)

I also love that you can see a weapon's reload speed now!

Just gonna take some time to figure out what all the other numbers in my weapon stats mean though :wise:

I'm confused by the amour changes...

does it mean that supremacy has now become less decaying? so my high TT boar with high durablity than nemesis has now become better and will decay less?

the old method of calculating decay is gone?

i guess i´ll love the the introduction of advertising and armor change.

I hope that now much armors will be interesting and worn.

no more straight white and orange looks in towns :)

yea it really sounds nice :D
the mob-bootcamp is a nice idea as well :)

oh I think that just the durability affects the decay now then.. so armors with higher durability have lower decay.. that sounds nice :)

Storage manufacturing
Avatars can manufacture various kinds of storage boxes.

About time

Ancient items
Old "Pre-Gold" items in existence in the Project Entropia universe at the time of version update has been permanently changed into "Ancient" items, meaning they can be used and repaired and still keep their stats.

Cool

Fixed bugged items
Fixed a bugged melee weapon – the whips minimum damage is adjusted to the correct level.

AHA!

Hmm, this VU has thrown me a few surprises, I'm slightly concenered about this. I'll work through it

The first 3 points, well no complaints there. Getting new furniture would be nice.

Ancient items, well its good for those who bought pre-gold stuff in the hope this would happen, and it has

Non decaying scopes... well if you had one, MA just stiffed ya :p

new TT stuff eh.... interesting

Critical hits.... this is the part that bothers me... that despite my shiny 17k set of armour, an AOA might do a critical hit and nail me through it anyway... I'm really not looking forward to finding out how bugged this one is. I really don't wanna be hunting AOA and it does 20 damage, 20 damage, without healing, then boom 110 and I'm dead. I'd really not like to have to heal after every hit justincase I get critical hit. But, at least this has been added to us too. I'm still very wary of this.

Armour decaying even though we don't block any... expected that one lol.

Glad that snables and stuff won't decay non-acid protecting armours now though. And of course its good to see MA show some detail on how armours actually work.

Advertising system... well I'm glad that MA have taken the initiative to explain the recent hofs.

Auction updates, helpful.

The what magazine? lol

Next couple of things ain't much to comment on, the next big thing is of course.... Creatures been to boot camp.... huh?

So let me get this straight, mobs will now have a RANGE of damage as apposed to a set number? Also, is this MA's way of saying they just nerfed evade?

FL fixed!!! WOO HOO! at last

Whips fixed... ooh dear, another axe-like rant thread in the waiting here.

So overall it looks pretty good, but I am quite hesitant to pass a view on the vu listing as it stands... I am very wary about this critical hit thing and I can just see it now, I login at rig, and atrox dom attacks me and critical hits me 6 times in a row... fun :D I just hope that critical hit is an extremely low % chance. I really don't want to be hunting uber mobs that I have uber armour to protect against, only for it to ignore my armour on every 10th hit. Really hoping MA haven't screwed this up. Fingers crossed.

I don't think thats quite what it means... it means that if the TT of the armour becomes lower, it doesn't decay any faster or slower. I really can't see MA suddenly turning supremacy(with 5200 Dura) from uber decaying, to uber economic :p

WELL DONE MA !!!

It is the best VU Content List i have ever seen :)

Let's have a hope that this VU wont have much bugs :)

I'm wondering if this critical hit and/or armour thing was in fact trialled in the last vu as I noticed that since then the damge I have taken has varied wildly from the normal up to about double what it should be. Maybe they just decided it does work ok and told us

Typical about the focus thing though because they said it was a bug I sold my focus chip never expecting it to come back. Bet I don't loot another now

Anyway I think it looks pretty good and I can't wait to see PA :D

wouldn't that mean that pixie, rascal & Co will now decay like twice as fast as nemesis for example? i think there's more where that came from and all armors must now be re-checked for their decay

You should check out the new 3 story bar in PA (when the servers come up again that is  )

It seems the Proprietor of the spacstation bar has moved planetside :)

Well actually I got a lot of concerns this vu a lot but will see the finished product before making opinions.

Concerns:

1) Well the first one but not an big one is the none decaying scopes and lasers I just bought.
Really 100 usd per week plus to just fix up my hunting gun is really enough.. The extra decays from the lasers and scope might be the straw that breaks the camels back.. In fact was not using them before I bought sbi’s stuff.

2) Critical hits and armors not protecting you ? What gives? Not sure if I like this one especially if mob is far away from the revival terminal and is an big mob. Hunting is bad enough making ends meet right.

I agree here and would love someone who is ingame to test it ASAP

why would MA not change the crappest decaying uber armour ingame to the best?

rascal will no longer be Uber and Jag becomes the VERY attractive!

HaHa Critical Strike what a joke now any noob can kill all mobs and all players if they hit critical so sick

hmmmm. another bugged melee weapon???? i'll bet they've lowered min dmg then. So depressing that they couldn't have mentioned this when they were doing axe 1x0 really :( I wonder how many more bugged weapons there are left?????

Apart from that looks interesting i'll wait to see what the armor changes mean and i look forward to logging in this evening to see for myself :)

Bohooooo my whip :( :( :( :(

Ok enough whining :), I made some nice profit with it while it lasted.

Rest looks very nice. IMO they kinda removed the casino affect abit, as the chance you die vs certain mobs is increased. So its not just mindless killing mob after mob anymore.

I dont know what to think about the armour thing yet. We will have to throw away every decaychart we have and start all over. I wonder what the results will be and what armour is best now.

For the rest, i only see positive things :)

omg wait... you have a point, nobody considered the pvp implications yet... what the hell happens if someone with a sword crit hits me through my angel. On EP a guy hit an argo with a valour for 117.5, I don't care who you are, a sword hitting for 117.5 is a pretty significant thing. Thats almost double damage. Does than me a DOA Foeripper could crit hit for almost 250-300 damage? Holy good god, mother of all mercy in heaven and all that is righteous... what the hell happens if you crit hit with a tango! WTF hahaha, or crit hit with legend axe.
You critically hit the target for 560 damage
Akoz killed Gavin with a Unique Legend War Axe

I don't think MA have actually tampered with the decay rates, I am sure this is just a clarification job to show a bit of transparency in the system. I really hope they didn't mess about with the actual decay rates, that would seriously undermine the market, in the same way that removing evade training screwed up the uber fap market.

New auction lay-out

New auction looks awesome! No more sitting with a handheld used as a calculator and comparing dozens of numbers :tongue2:

Sorry, I'm at work now and can't check it out myself. Can you see TT+ and %'s when submitting a new lot to the auction and setting the price?
