wanting to do mingin log but need advice...

first off i wanna clarify i am a noob miner (lvl 9 ore, lvl 7 enmat) and am wanting to start a mingin log, however i am at a loss on how exactly to do it

heres a link to what i tried as one... but it was to hard to continue on Rocktropia with limited places to sell my resources. (please note my avatars name was changed i swear im not stealing someone elses stuff)

so list of questions (scattered and random.. im still hungover)

1. is it worth doing one without amps.. i am low enough level and dont have a super huge ped base to mine with (ie. about 500) i cant be going in the hole 8000 ped like some other people

2. i see people calculating in markup.. do you sit there with a calculator for 30 min after each run calculating it, or is there a program somewhere i am missing

3. what is the best run size... i do 150 ped (100 of each) often, but i was wondering if longer runs do better overall or if a bunch of these ones will work

4. should i do both ores and enmats, or focus on one and stay focused on that one till i get to a higher level, or should i not even bother with this till im higher level

man those coctails you found on Rocktropia are to be sold on auction not to be drunk , so better come on Calypso for a larger player base who can buy your stuff

1. yes it worth mining unamped .
2. most people use Excel sheets to calculate MU .
3. the more the better . learn to measure the length of your runs in drops not in peds .
4.i would chose only one ore or enmatter , not both because your budget isn't very big to support many drops of each type .
chosing only enmatters unamped in ares with interesting MU , would be a good idea .

my answers...

1. yes of course! Id even recommend that in the beginning, if your log turns out well you still have the option to raise the peds spent per run!

2. see xerox's post, this is probably the quickest option

3. 100 drops each is a good size, i did that for years. Its easy to calculate and easy to handle.

4. both options have pros and cons. Doing both enmatter and ores is slightly slower, the unlocks will come later. It also might be more confusing unless you map your finds well. Geology rises quicker and if one kind of mining is bad, the other one might still do well. As a specialist in ore or enmatter its easier to figure out how your miningspots are so you might get into amping earlier

hi i recently started a mining log on here and 100 ped runs seems to be working quite well. like you i dont have a big ped card to be going in the hole with so i run unamped. when i calculate mu usually i just try and go a % or two below week, im trying to figure out a better way to keep track of my mu's though. and yes i just sit there for about 10 minutes with a calculator. lately ive been hooked on ores, i like to do 1 type at a time though, because if i get an nrf with ores then i feel inclined to drop an enmatter. well gl man, i hope you start one as i like to follow and see the results, cheers!

Maybe a slight confusion about what you need for a mining log and what you need for a mining run. I would think that, for a log, you need some procedure that is easy to note down and to write about. For the run, you want to mine in a way that you enjoy and that has a good chance of giving you profit.

Don't do amps till you are at a way higher level. Mining unamped can be very profitable.

As someone had already said, you can spreadsheet it. But I would think that a rough rounded down calculation would be good enough [20% rather than 21.25%] - or, if you aren't doing anything other than mining, why not simply compare your peds before you start with what you've got after you've sold your loot?

I don't think it makes the slightest bit of difference.

So far as profit goes, enmatters historically are likely to give you the best returns. That said, with the most common ore lysterium fetching a respectable MU, and its sister (oil) not, maybe ores at the moment are a better idea.

Otherwise, it really depends on how far your budget stretches.
