I've been playing for 12 years now. The whole time spent skilling up and investing bit by bit to get to a point where I could profit from the game, from a high tt return plus some markup. Just when I'm about reaching that point the rug is pulled out. I shouldn't be upset? People who may have had the value of expensive items cut in half shouldn't be upset? By the way, inspiration for that came from watching more skilled and better geared players do well. If the end game isn't that great anymore, where is the inspiration? Skil up for a decade and invest thousands of dollars so you can... lose less! Woohoo!
I really don't want to sound insensitive but.... if you wasted 12 years of your life playing a game with the hope of getting to a point where you can profit a few dollars a month from it, perhaps you should have considered a better career path in life to not worry about spending $50 a month for your entertainment.
To desensitize my above statement because am sure it does come out to be a little rude, i'll try explaining. People ask me in game what my profit in EU has been. The one thing i tell them is i am not in profit, i am only stacking up my losses from a purely economical perspective. Why? Because if i was working irl instead of playing in EU, I would be earning 5-10x more for the same time spent. The keyword being "work" and "play".
Why am i here? I enjoy the game with its complexities and everything it has to offer. I too rage when loot is bad, like for instance the fact that i lost over 45k peds on EP IV ( on quantity i got 60% tt return over 1k clicks for a maxed bp and a lvl 60+ crafter--- unthinkable right) but do i blame MA for it. No, i don't come crying to the forums about my bad loot. The reason i decided to quit is also more to do with my own weakness for EP IV then any of MA's fault. They after all don't force me to click it.
To sum it up , it is not the destination which counts only, the journey matters as well. The world has changed from 12 years ago and for MA and the game to survive, only big $ numbers posted on guiness records will not bring in the gamers. People are ready to spend for entertainment, more now then before but EU needs to adapt to the changing demographics as well.
