Again… my problem with balancing the economy is that players will always grind markup down to nothing if it’s accessible. There’s never going to be enough consumption of mined and hunted resources so get over it. If MA rebalances stuff like they did when shrapnel was released, the players will just grind it down to 101% anyways.
Stop asking Mindark to create markup for you, it won’t work you socialist whiners.
Edit: youngs and stalkers should not drop the same stuff.
I understand your point Sean, I do. The problem seems to be mostly in "turnover", i.e. once a hunter has converted all of their ped into hunting loot, they must sell it if they wish to get back to hunting. Now some will probably have the instinct to try and hold out for a "fair" price for their loot, but before long most will realize that if they are ever going to be able to get back to hunting again, they are going to have to just accept whatever they can get and move on with their life.
I understand this problem and I think most people do.
The dynamics at play here seem to be Supply and Demand; too much supply, because 90% of players hunt and generate hunting loot, and not enough demand, cause only 5-10% of players actually use this loot to convert it into something else. So, it would appear that the only levers that MA has to solve this problem are:
- Reduce the supply of hunting loot
- Increase the demand of hunting loot
I think that's a simplistic view, but let's go ahead and take a look at what MA has done in recent years to try and pull on those levers:
1. Introduced Shrapnel to help alleviate the turnover constraints
2. Loot 2.0 to stabilize returns for hunters
3. New skilling/fishing BPs (Tech Gizmos) to increase demand for all of the lower level Animal Oils (except Heart and Brain)
4. Buy-Orders on the Auction to stand in as a pseudo-demand for other hunting mats
All of these things have helped, probably not as much as MA was hoping but they have helped. Returns are more predictable with Loot 2.0, there are fewer failed auctions on Animal Oils since the Tech Gizmos have come out, and sporadic Buy-Orders provide a solution to getting markup for things like Animal Hide where typically there is no markup to speak of for that stuff.
There is more that could be done and I think that's what the people are saying here in this poll. For one thing, I believe that Land Plot development presents the parfect opportunity to create more demand for hunting loot, I would not even bat an eye on spending 10k in markup just for the opportunity to erect a cool building, and I suspect that a lot of other people would too. If MA just released 1 new building a year, I believe it could have an effect on the overall economy, and they could milk this thing for many years, possibly a decade. But I digress...
The point is, lots of people still find it too expensive to hunt and want MA to do something about it. I witness this in discussions I have with soc mates and even though I don't do that much hunting, I feel for them. I understand that the money isn't just going to appear out of thin air and must come from somewhere, that obvious somewhere, to me, is from investors and content creators, such as Land Plot owners/developers. Give them something in exchange, but make them pay for it.
Anyway, it's just a poll, I wouldn't call those people socialists, I think it's important to listen and look to see if there's anything that can be learned and used from those results, and what I see is that it's still very expensive to hunt... possibly more then what people are willing to spend.
