Next Island - New EU Partner

The video on the left looks great... the video on the right made me cringe - I wouldn't go there if thats what its going to look like. I'll stay on Calypso thanks.

What are you talking about? SL is still in beta. ;)

Pretty disturbing fact that the ugly video is way longer then the EU one. I can't figure out where is that from, it not reminds me to any virtual platforms. :mad:

First off big supposed NEG REP to every prat who taken the site at face value and sounded off without thinking first.

TBH yes its a bit of a mishmash I have to admit and I'm very very supprised that they jumped the gun on displaying a video that even MA havn't released yet.

Regarding the one on the right, its probably just a concept vid from something else. Anyone remember MA's first video? Its about the same really if you think about it. It is VERY unlikely what they are making will be anything like this.

What IS clear is that they are simply using Entropia as a platform (as MA always talk about people doing) which means that all the proffesions will be in place most likely. They DO indicate however that they intend to make new ones so don't panic.

Personally, I rather liked the story. At least they are TRYING to make their world fit in with Calypso. Given it sounds like they are trying to get some odd things into it I recon they havn't done a bad job. How would YOU write a story with General Paton in? :D I think they need it to be a parrallel earth so they can get content in relating to RL personalities we have on TV... thats my suspicion anyhow.

Also, take a look at the concept art.... that looks pretty nice if you ask me.

I think the crappy video is a concept video made for them by some company.
Dont think its a game you see there, just a 3D animation video.

you say that, but you dont need to put a site live and publicaly available to build and test it. its unprofessional at the very least.

I reckon they were already working on a 3D world engine and are junking it and migrating the ideas and mechanics to the MA platform. so i think that vision and concept wise it is exactly what they will be producing, just with cryengine graphics.
 
I tried looking for any TV stations using nextpert content, but came up lacking. For example, google for "Mr Food" and you'll get many pages of local TV station web sites that have stuff on their website regarding this popular syndicated segment.

A similar search for "In a Celebrity Minute"... which their web site would lead me to believe is their flagship product, yields nothing but youtube, Yahoo! video, and myspace links. I'm just not seeing anything that leaps out and says "network" like their website touts.

Nah, looks like a parallell world with a parallell ava :)

Using MA technology and Entropia Universe platfrom is NOT the same as expanding our universe.

You have to split Calypso and the new planets using the same technology. (at least IMO)
 
Nirfu, their "history" page said this planet was discovered by explorers from Calypso. This implies that travel is possible between the two. If this is indeed the case MA should have named the fucking thing "Entropia Multiverse".


Bring back PROJECT ENTROPIA!

I can see where you are coming from and aggree that maybe they started with that and ditched it. However through using the MA system it looks like there is a clear need and desirable reason to have your planet fit in. This in itself changes things significantly. Take the proposed storyline for example. Their concept/demo vid mentions none of this.

Things have clearly already evolved

This website is far from being completed. If you see the movie set instead of the actual movie ofc you get a totally different picture. Video on the right is a showcase of what they want to introduce in EU. I`m amazed everyone started to bitch about the graphics. I love the standup comedy idea. I also imagine a virtual movie theater is not too far away. Pay in peds to see the last releases and not wait 6 months or more for the DVD release. Might open up cool professions such as bootlegger :laugh:
 
Mickass, I could care less about the graphics in their presentation. I have issues with sveral things I see though.

1. Connectivity with EU: The backstory as it appears on the web page is the flimsiest excuse of a story to put their South Pacific Island into the mileux. I had hoped that MA would work with content providers to fold them into a cohesive universe consistant with what existing participants already know, understand, and hold dear. This ain't it.

2. Content: Egypt Land? Patton? What's next, Jeezus H Christ on a pogo stick? WTF! The streaming video stage they show in the comedy club is gonna be hilarious also. The participant takes the stage and inputs a URL for their streaming source to appear on the screen. How many milliseconds after launch do you think it's gonna take for someone to put some nice pr0n up on that screen??

3. Experience: As I've stated earlier, there's no real trail of content behind this company to guage previous work... save for some "me too, I'm a Somebody" headshots on the web page combined with some interviews that anyone that could get a press pass could conduct. Strangely, those clips ony come up on youtube and other sites of that nature, not as part of the broadcast or online entertainment industry websites.


This whole thing really saddens me. EU had so much promise. With experienced partners and quality content, EU could be the showcase of the MMORPG industry, but it looks like Jan is driving down a different road.

Y'all hang on, I think it's gonna be bumpy up the road.

I could see Jesus Christ in a story if the story is good. Don`t have a problem with that. Could be McArthur , Rommel or whatever. The plot, names are not important but how all comes together. Afterall, what`s in a name? :)

About the porn thing you mentioned. People can upload atm porn to signs and video screens. They risk a bank ofc as it` s against EULA.

P.S: Jesus Christ on pogo stick could actually work. :laugh:

Chinese serverfarm residing in China wouldn't exactly be the best option for players in Europe & US.
As for the server technology, I will believe it when I see it, rubberbanding and other usual behaviour recently sure tells it isn't been used in EU yet.:laugh:
You can try to find info of the new technology, we really would like to get some spesifications of it.:scratch2:
 
If they're involving people like this maybe I should put forward my idea for the gamers heaven planet with mobs that don't regenerate, a casino, multi-docking bay hangers, nightclubs, rich ore veins, That gun I made in the create a weapon thread :scratch2: , a movie theatre and TV Studio :cool:

Most of all, if I had my way there'd be no no-loots, you'd at least get some loot back, however small (lets face it, the creature must have something you can sell... right?)

However they aren't interested in individuals doing this gig, while I do have my own business, it isn't large enough for this size a project :(

My idea is similar to Bagman's planet ;)

orly ? a wormhole to a parrallel planet thats an exact replica of earth...what are the chances!!!??? Why not just a simple extremely long voyage ( few generations of space flight- in real time hehe ) and we dont realise the ship is missing , noone bother to answer the distress call , leave em to it , im sure they will be fine.

Still no official word yet hmm? I don`t think we are going to get one just so they don`t have to explain further or do damage control. If it`s a haox they have their lawyers on it and if it`s true then they are waiting for these people to get their act together. One of the big rules in web building....never put out a site under construction. It just looks so amateurish.
