This leaves 2 options...
You still play in which case you are spending money in what you call scam in which case if even those that consider it a scam are still spending their money in it its guaranteed to never fail.

Or you don't play anymore and yet you still hang around the forum just to troll on it because you cant let go.So even those that hate it cant seem to say goodbye :ahh:

I dont the think basic concept of EU has a limited life span, but I do think MA , in its current form with its current attitude, does.

At the moment if MA die, then EU likely will too. If they sell out to someone that actually gives a rat ass about the players, then we are in for one hell of a treat.

The game itself is brilliant, but I honestly believe that it will be very quickly replaced if something should go wrong. Everyone wants EU to survive and grow, and in some form or another it will, and if MA changes its position with the players, just a little, then they will grow and profit hansomly too. Trust is what builds confidence and encourages investment, and I dont see too much of that around for MA at the moment.

These trolls really make my day and the people who reply them :laugh: but Majstorex said a very valid point that worries me, a lot of quitters that still hang in forums complaining and crying and that is the first thing newbies see, and most will probably just run away without trying EU out.

About my post saying that people who are mad at MA and have had a bad time not being good for the poll, I still think it isn't. If I had bad times, I'm pissed at MA now then I'll vent up my anger and just go for the obvious option. That's why I said you should take a neutral stance for better results, not just say "Yay I got a 2k HoF EU is going to last forever" or "OMFG I just lost 1k PED crafting dammit! MA is going down!". However this cannot be avoided. I would sit and say "Well, EU is doing this thing badly, the influx of players is this, the upcoming planets might... , MA needs to do this before... etc"

I do agree with most of you, I'm happy that many of you have an optimistic vision and that many of you have taken the time to leave a comment, be bad or good (special thanks to the troll and future trolls for making my day with such smart comments:lolup:). And this thread was also so that new players that come on the forums see something besides people crying and complaining about the game and MA, that surely will impact our flow of new players and I as a player want to do anything to avoid such thing.

I'd say only one thing... educate yourself in this universe... and if you've enough patience, one day you'd see how wrong you are.

However, if you are into this game to play for free and yet RCE and make money (like ND and few others) then yes, it is a scam. ................. but this scam is out of your lack of proper knowledge and greed.

For a while, we even had a guy hanging around (on old EF) for weeks (or months) after he had quit the game, PMing newbies and telling them to "get the fuck out of here" :coffee: naturally, he was banned when his behaviour was discovered due to a confused newbie wondering why he was attacked via PM like that when just posting and asking for help :rolleyes:

It is a vote as to how long EU will be here not the player himself. Their will always will be new players coming along as kids get older and more new credit cards go out in the mail every day.

I don't think I know enough to even vote, so i won't.(6 months in as a player) As I see it EU is a gaming platform which will live or die by the planet partners. It only needs one really successful planet to survive. Currently that is Calypso which in its present state we assume doesn't pull in enough in the way of new players, hence this thread of impending doom. It is clear though the planet partners, including SEE are investing in both the existing planets and new planets. Perhaps that investment will at some point lead to a renewal of the EU game and a batch of new players, or maybe not. It does seem though that EU has more chances at thriving or at least surviving than many give it credit for just by the nature of the planet partner set-up.
 
i picked 2 to 3 years. i been playing over 3 years, and its starting to feel more like a casino , than the game i fell in love with , running from combibos in my oranges......:(

So you are saying you have a neutral stance... but yet you (As the OP) are tending towards a positive outcome and want to shut out the negetive responses??... :scratch2:

If I were you as a thread starter I wouldnt even comment on anything to keep it neutral ... you dont see a judge telling the jury .."Well although there is evidence from both sides I really hate the accused" lmao

Like I said I voted 6+ years but I hate this attitude of shutting anyone who wants to express any kind of frustration or negetive points... the only way to get new players and keep old players is to interact be it good or bad... the moment we start shutting people up because of their point of view, we start looking more like a cult. THATS WHEN YOU LOOSE PLAYERS!
 
With Arkadia arround the corner I am very optimistic for the future of EU. I mean MA can still fuck it up but in that case the most pessimistic option may be the right one. However I don't see that comming because I think that MA is used as a scapegoat by the current live PPs. Just listen to some ND podcast and see what he says and then go to RT. You'll know what I mean... if I where MA I would've held that content back for longer and ND is bitching about the MA delays. lol
 
opted for 10+ years (tbh, I don't think I'll survive the game and am only 33).

Reason:

I have chipped out twice (close to 300k skills) sold everything I owned twice and yet I am still playing and closing in on level 60 again. EU has the unique feature that it combines gambling with the 'getting better thing'

WOW is easy, you pay you play and you can't not get by. EU is trickier, either you happily invest a lot on a monthly basis or you need to be a lot more intelligent then the majority of players.

No matter how bad MA screws up again, no matter how many times I told my partner ... THAT'S IT, ANOTHER MINING RUN WITH 108 ORE AMPS AND MASSIVE LOSSES, I am still playing ...

Oh, and I have invested enough to buy 2x LA's ... That should speak itself for my confidence in this game

EU`s not going away anytime soon, especially with dozens planets on their way.
 
tbh i cant believe so many think its the amount of new players starting that keep this game going, think of the depos of just the folks that come to forum , most of us have played for awhile and im sure have depoed a good bit , thats where the cash flow is from.......just outta curiosity , i would bet 80% of forum posters have recieved (or would qualify for) halloween pants.

ps if you were here at that time.

pss maybe another poll should be taken on the life expectancy of planet calypso. with all the new planets coming it seems ma could make enough off the platform and not have the overhead of an actual planet??

I WILL try to avoid negative opinions for a simple reason, most people on these forums cry, complain, etc. It is ridiculous and most new players will see this and run away for an obvious reason. Don't compare this thread to a judge or anything like that lol. If you want to QQ about the game make a whining thread like those thousands that exist already. And I Don't think interacting in this forum will have any positive outcome on new players at all. I'm not shutting people up, I simply want to avoid votes that are directly related of how happy you are with the game, being bad OR GOOD. I already said this can't be avoided so no point in discussing this. Many people have the attitude of bashing any good opinion of EU or always putting negative stuff, well I am the opposite and will always do it.

SDS - Owner of Planet Calypso (by buying up FPC)


So what MA makes from Calypso has nothing to do with the development of Calypso, in that way

you should understand I do not play this game to make money, it will soon be 1 year since i started playing, deposited nearly 4k eur, educated myself quite alot you can say, but am running very low on patience for the moment, so excuse me for a bit annoyed response i made to this thread.(was doing the allo mission, getting close to completing it and have been getting shit back since the day i started it lol, and a dude hit a 5k allo 100m from me lmfao, while I got back a stagering 30% return, felt like the money was going directly from my pocket into his, so please understand my frustration lol)

...actualy as i allready stated before i started to play it so I would spend less of my time gambling on slots and I must add, I have stopped doing that completly, so this game did bring me something good.:wise:

I have never played a mmo before, have checked a few out after I got sick and tired of this one for the first time (after about 8 months) and must say nothing comes close to the potencial this game has, I especialy hate the orc,elf,human type of shit and the japanese style faces ones aswell.

And to be honest this game has every potencial to keep running for decades or atleast untill something unexceptable happens(WW3:scratch2:), theres allways gonna be a big enough player flow

No worries, I think we have all pretty much been there and felt that way. This thread is open to any discussion related to this topic, the poll is specific, the thread you can pretty much discuss your thoughts. So far you guys have replied with pretty good comments and reasons, both bad and good. I'm happy to see this thread and this poll lived up to my expectations and I am overwhelmed to see after a couple of years people still think the same way about EU's longevity.

from what ive read ma is basically sds , at least marco is on both offical docs when you look up the businesses , ma owns the platform but sold the rights to calypso to sds , who developes planets (not a main interest on running them) so could a phase out of calypso be on the horizon hoping everyone moves to a partner planet , then all ma/sds has to do is collect the 25% from all pp's

altho as hard as it is to even find out who is on the boards of either business i could be totally wrong

I don't know how much clearer I can explain this to you, but here it goes. Regarding the poll, I stand from a neutral point where I analyze the game, its mechanics, economy, mistakes, etc. to try and come up with an average life expectation.

But If you reply about your thoughts and how you hate MA or how bad it is, that it sucks and you want to quit, I WILL argue against you, because the poll does not relate to that and therefore you are making a comment off topic from the poll so I can freely argue from my side. Anyways this is irrelevant to the thread and poll, and it seems that it goes round and round, so I hope this was clear enough.:wise:

Well again you are saying it yourself ... you are not neutral ... I don't have a problem with you being positive, that's great!

I'll explain in lame terms... if a game is played by 100 people..100 people voted... 20% hates it and want to leave and 80% loves it and want to stay, the game has future and vice versa. However, You WILL NOT get the right stats if you say the haters should not vote or justify what they do.

You will have to put your personal feelings aside when you try to get statistics because your feelings don't mean a thing when it comes to reality or the result, you gotta consider yourself as 1 voter like anyone else.

Like I said I voted 6+ years like most of the veteran players and am glad at the outcome (I don't think the sky is ever gonna fall lol). However, it could have been run a bit better.
