Basic PE interface guide, how to access and use your information!

Hey MB, is there any chance I could get this thread stickied?

Maybe you could replace some of the print screens with thumbs instead first? Some of them stretch the forum postings they are in because they are bigger than the posting window...

Thanks for the advice, it is a little easier to load without the stretched posts.

Healing

There are 2 main ways to heal other than standing around waiting. You can use a fap or emt kit, or find a healing chip for mindforce. The TT sells a fap-5 (first aid pack) and there are many others found throughout the game, plus the emt kits that can be crafted. Franck's fap guide gives a good look at what you can expect from a fap: https://www.planetcalypsoforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1850
The mindforce heal chip stats can be found in the guide linked with the implants.

Good work.
Thanks a ton MB.
Now let's hope they read it, and it helps get us a good player base up and running. :wise:

Also a big thanks to everyone who gave me input on this, you helped greatly in making it work, and to all that have provided the great threads I linked to. Keep up the good work.

You could add this to your guide, since
it tells folks how to change the options:

Thanks for the link KapokWu. I can't get my word program to open it right, but I'll see if I can't modifie it with another program and post it on here.
Thanks again to KapokWu for the link. Here is the html version he sent me. It looks great and should help a bunch: http://www.saunalahti.fi/~pavone/PE/temp/GUI_Guide_PE.htm

NOTE: If you select "RMB click sets cursor mode" in the otions, you will need to double click on an item to interact (such as the terminals), and the interaction pulldown menu is disabled. This option allows you to use the mouse click to change between aim and cursor mode along with the spacebar.

Sweat Gathering

Something I left out before, there are many other guides to this but I thought it would help to have a few pics with tips. ;)
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
Step 1: Target your "victim" and start concentrating. You can use the pulldown action list, sweat command from quickbar, or double click your target with no weapons/items equiped.
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
Step 2: Once you have finished concentrating your hands will start to glow like so, then you are ready to start gathering.
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
Step 3: Hit the sweating command from pulldown or quickbar or double click again to start gathering.
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
Step 4, success: If you are successful at gathering a loot window will apear with the bottles of sweat you get. If you are not successful on your first try fear not, many have this problem (I still do all the time), just try again you'll get it sooner or later.
Good luck and happy sweating!
You can also find this info in ViagraFalls great sweating guide: https://www.planetcalypsoforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2397
PS: If you can get a friend or some nice higher up avatar to help you out, you can get Focus Charges from someone with mindforce. These will prevent getting hit from breaking your concentration while sweating. I highly recomend this, it has helped me much in my gathering.

Several things added and a few updates.

EDIT: OK, I figured I would expand the guide a little and add some screenshots of the proffessions at work. Enjoy, and hope they help.

If anyone else has some good screenshots of the pros at work they would be greatly appreciated.

Also I would like to give another huge THANKS to MB for giving us this great place. (and the unlimited upload for pics! wow, I got a ton in there :D )

Mining 101 #1 Tools and supplies

First you need the equipment for mining, personally I use the 101's but the TT stuff works fine for now. Here are the sets you will need:
Ore mining: Ore finder(detector), Or miner(extractor), and lots of bombs.

[br]Click to enlarge[/br]

[br]Click to enlarge[/br]

[br]Click to enlarge[/br]

EnMatter mining: Matter finder(detector), Matter drill(extractor), and lots of probes.

[br]Click to enlarge[/br]

[br]Click to enlarge[/br]

[br]Click to enlarge[/br]

Note that you can get 1bomb/ped or 2 probes/ped. (bought at TT of course)

Mining 101 #2 Ores

Once you have the equipment you need, and the bombs it is time to find an area to search. There are a few well known areas, but mostly it will be trial and error to find places that work for you.
First you equip the OreFinder, then just aim and shoot; This drops the bomb which will scan the area for minerals:

[br]Click to enlarge[/br]

If something is detected a special radar will pop up like such:

[br]Click to enlarge[/br]

I have colored this one for easier explaining (at least for me :p). One of the arrows will be blinking, walk or run in that direction, if one of the other arrows starts to blink turn that way until the top one is blinking again(red one) and do this until the range indicater drops to close to 0. Once you have found the spot from the radar all of the arrows will blink together (should be close to 0 on range now):

[br]Click to enlarge[/br]

Then a claimrod will appear along with a claim deed. You can go into the documents section of your inventory to find the deed, it will tell you where the claim is and what size/type it is (in case you die and need to get back to it or such):

[br]Click to enlarge[/br]

Once you locate the claimrod, equip the OreMiner and start extracting your find:

[br]Click to enlarge[/br]

[br]Click to enlarge[/br]

Again just aim and shoot with the claimrod targeted to extract, keep this up until it is depleted and you should have a nice new supple of ore. (In the pic I found some blausarium, very nice stuff)

Mining 101 #3 EnMatter

This is basicly the same as the ore mining, only you will need the probes instead of bombs (and of course matterfinder/drill).
First equip the finder, then drop a probe to scan the area:

[br]Click to enlarge[/br]

If something is detected you will get the same kind of radar as in ores, just for matter:

[br]Click to enlarge[/br]

Same process as ore, follow the arrows, turn as needed, until they all blink and you get your claimrod:

[br]Click to enlarge[/br]

Once you get the claim (also get a deed here, same as ore, can be found in inv for info), you equip your MatterDrill and start extracting.
Then it it just the same as ore from there, aim and shoot, keep extracting until you get it all.

Then you just find another area to bomb or probe and keep going like that, repeat the process for either ore or matter (I do both in intervals) as needed.
One thing that may help is to keep track of what you find where (something I need to start doing  ), if you print up the maps I linked to you can mark them with your finds for future trips. There are a few places you can look up what is where, I'll post some links when I refind them. Enjoy! And happy hunting... errr mining that is

Hunting 101

Ok on to hunting, one of my favorite past times ingame.

First you will need to find a weapon you like, for this I just used the basic handgun from TT (note that ranged weapons require ammo also, item stats will tell what kind it uses and how much. Ammo can be bought at TT also):
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]

Next you need to find a creature to kill, and equip the weapon:
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
If you fire from a distance like this the creature will run at you and attack most otf the time (there are a few that run away).
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
Here is one of the actual shot being fired just because it looks cool:
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
After you do enough damage the creature will drop dead:
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
After the kill, you can right click the body to loot the creature. You will get a ton of the no loot found message:
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
But have faith and keep at it you will find something eventually. (shown in next post)

Hunting 101 (cont.); Loot - Melee attacks

Sometimes you will find cash:
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
Sometimes you will find items:
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
Sometimes you will find both. It's just a matter of finding the right thing to kill at the right time. (about 50%luck/50%skill and items, or thereabouts)

Ok got some pics of melee fighting as well now.
First you will need the weapon of course, I used the TT powerfist here:
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
Then you just get close to the creature and go to town, aim and click just like in ranged combat:
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
Then you finish it off and loot away! :D

Crafting 101- Refining

Now for my personal favorite, crafting. First you will need to refine your materials if you mined them. You can buy them already refined to save time.
I use the basic TT refiner for ore:
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
Activate the refiner buy aiming and clicking just as you do a weapon:
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
Place your materials in and hit the refine button:
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
A loot window will pop up with the finished, usable, material.

Note that ore takes 3 per refined, and enmatter takes 2 per refined.

Crafting 101- Make your goods!

I mostly work on components from the equipment book so that is what I will show you today. The other books are used the same. First you need to buy the book and some blueprints (BP). In order to use the BP's you must place them in the appropriate book first. Once you have the BP book ready and materials look for a crafting machine:
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
Right click to activate it and the menu will open. Double click the book you wish to use to open it:
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
Then find your BP and left click to place it into the machine for use:
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
Now it is time to add the materials listed. Simply drag them from inventory into the crafting window:
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]

Note: You can set the level of quantity vs. condition for crafting. This will affect whether you make more or better repaired items. Also on the left side of the craft menu is the bar for success rate, higher skills and better BP quaility will increase this bar making it easier to craft that item.

Crafting 101 - What you see is what you get.

Once you get the materials and BP in place, there are several outcomes that you may get from crafting attempts.
A failure, where your materials are used with no return:
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
Near success, where you get part of what you use back, or residue:
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
Success, where you make the desired item:
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]

Note that when crafting you may get other items in the loot window along with the item on a success. This is where you will loot your BP's from if you don't want to have to buy them.

Great great work

Coloring 101

Ok I got a few shots of the coloring process, even tho I don't do my own coloring. I suggest talking to the master if you need anything done, always does a great job for me. ;) https://www.planetcalypsoforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1070

First you will need the coloring tools, I used the TT colorator for my test pics.
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
Then of course you'll need the clothing and paint to use. Activate the colorator (aim and shoot just like most everything else), then insert the clothing item, then add the paint.
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
Note that the pants have 2 fields and the boots have 3. You will need 20 cans of paint for each field for best results. Once you have the look you want, click the apply button and there you have it.
Here are what the pants and boots look like finished. (Note I did not do the coloring on them myself, I have Sarah do all my coloring.)
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
NOTE: It is also possible to remove color from an item to change it, you can find a bleaching add-on for the colorator in the auction. (go to the coloring section under tools.)

Taming 101 #1

Ok finally got around to gettin some good pics of taming, took me a while to find somethin I had the skill for
First you will need to find the tools to get started with.
A nice whip:
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
A brush for building trust:
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
And of course some food:
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
Once you have secured these items you are ready to find yourself a pet ;)
I found the whip and brush at the auction (whip under slash weapons, and brush under tools), and the nutrio bars are made from the fruit you find lying around and sweetstuff which can be mined. (you can buy either these or the bars from auction as well.)

Taming 101 #2

Now on to the art of taming. Find a mob that can be tamed (notable by the extra spirit bar above it's health). Grab your whip and get started.
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
The object is to build respect while lowering spirit and health:
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
When you hit the right combo of high respect and low health/spirit you can attempt to tame:
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
The commands can be found in the action book, and from the pulldown menu.
I personally find it easiest to keep a section of my quikbar filled with these commands for this.
When successful you will get the tamed message: (you will get other messages in yellow telling you if the health/spirit is too high, if the respect isn't enough, or if you aren't skilled enough for a certain creature)
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
This is when you will need to feed your new friend to build up it's energy, and use the brush to build up trust.
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
As you have your pet perform tasks it will also begin to gain experience, some commands require a certain level to be useable.
You can use the quickbar as I do, or the pulldown menu to give commands (much like the interaction pulldown for other avatars)
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]

For best results I suggest you follow GHILL's guide: https://www.planetcalypsoforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14064

After Taming: Stabling your pet.

When you will be away from your pet for a long time (such as when you log out) it is best to keep it at the stable.
Find a stable keeper: (follow the signs, there is a stable outside of most towns)
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
Then use the stable command from the pulldown or action book with your pet selected. This will put them in the stable for safe keeping, and you will get a pet deed to retrieve your pet later:
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
To bring your pet out to play, go to a nearby stable and double click the pet deed to activate it, thus returning your pet to your side.

And just because, I got a scan of my first pet to show the stats you can keep track of:
[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
This can also be found in the pet deed information. It is usefull to know when you need to feed your pet and the level of trust.

This is all very good info for the new generation of newbies... free Bump!
