how many other people, other than me, started playing this game after they heard about NEVERDIE and his $100,000 buyout?

I follow games pretty well, never heard this game till last week...loving it so far, its my kinda game. now if i could stay logged in more than a few mins at a time.

thought this game had to be realy good

Well very glad you like it so far :)

as for me been here years, PE been around for an long time.

Make sure you got all your drivers in the green and im running 128 video card and 1 gig ram on an pentium 4.
When I first started PE I used to ctd , lose connection all the time, does not happen that much now with the better equipment ;)
 
Ok, I admit it, that story really got my interest. So I came here, read through the forums and decided to give the game a try, now I'm hooked :D.

About your crashes, I was crashing every few minutes too. I was using Nvidia driver 7801 (MA recommends driver 7772). So I uninstalled that driver and installed 7772.

It's made a big difference to the games stability, I only get one crash every hour or so now.

Welcome to game :) Im no newcomer, been around 2 years, and I love to see that so many has taken a intrest in PE. I love it still, hope you gain the same passion about it as many of us here do.

About the ctd's. Check Options in clientloader and try setting down the graphics a bit. Then when you open teleports in other cities with less stress (the 'noob-drops' usually has tons of people, so more stress) then you can put it up again and see how you do. Also upload the recommended drivers! This might help you :)
 
well i'm not really CTDing. i get a red screen that says i've lost my connetion to PE, press esc to exit. i have all the proper ports one(see dropping every few mins thead) i even as a noob walked to fort ithus just to get away from people and i'm still lossing connection :-(
 
Might be a problem with your isp. I know some isp's have issues and they "drop" people for short periods of time to balance the load...
Or are you using dial up?
 
I got into EP just over a week ago after watching the Gadget Show in the UK, I think they only mentioned the TI buy though.

The reason I'd never been here, or any other online game, in the past was that I knew I'd become heavily addicted and get no work done lol. But my online biz is pretty much running itself these days and I was starting to spend a lot of time playing online poker (winning) and online casinos (losing) so I decided to take a look at EP.

I'm loving it :) And unlike many people who complain about the cost, it's saving me a fortune by keeping me out of the online casinos lol

You're absolutely right!...Instead of going and get drunk in a bar, why shoudn't i use the money and get drunk of happiness ingame when i loot some nice peds from a mob?... :)

this game should be rewarded by many anti drugs or anti alcohol foundations :laugh:

Set your connection speed (in the options tab on the client loader) to lowest (56k).

Should work.
 
I dont know what "O" menu you guys got...but it sounds differnt than mine.

"o" only gives this gimp keyboard setup screen and some brightness options...how do i get a a real opitions screen?

your trying options ingame. Its a options button on the clientloader.
 
nm, i figured it out. its on the PE login screen at the bottom, set it to 56k, even thought i'm running cable at 4mb down/512k up. hopefully thats helps :) only 9500 sweat to go till mega sell of 10,000 sweat :)

I started playing about a year ago now, after seeing my Dad he told me about it and we are still playing today :) allthough he is not on as much must be his age :silly2:
 
As allready told, check the Options Button when you on the Loggin Site after you Started PE.

Lower the connection settings step for step because its not necessary to set up 56K Modem when you have DSL. After every change, logg in PE and teleport to another town, so you also change the Gameserver. If you still have problems, repeat the Procedere.

I actually saw an article on /. about this game - had never heard of it before. I was a little worried that all the press would cause enough of a spike that things might be a little iffy but everything's been great so far. Kudos to MA for a solid system. I've been playing for a couple days now and am quite hooked. I've been involved in various MMORPG for years now but this seems to be exactly what I've been looking for.

I saw that and dreamed of being uber..

But.. theres always someone with a bigger gun !

Im using a P4 3 ghz
1 GB ddr2 400 ram
2 serial 160GB drives on a Raid 0
Nvidia 5700 128MB card <<<my weaklink
3.3MB x 768KB DSL connection and im still losing connection alot.
 
Been here a LOONG time

Ive actually been here a long time.
I joined in the BETA, which would be over 4 years ago and i havent been able to leave. Actually Ive only really wanted to leave once and that was a few months before PE went gold.. A stupid Atrox had to drop me and a teammate a 1605 PED HoF so that i suddenly had money again and a reason to stay..

Ive also been playing Matrix Online (was in the beta there too), horizons face of mankind and a few other mmorpgs on and off, but none of them really has been as catching as PE has been. I admitt it.. im an addict..

It no different to any other game you have to pay for, The way I look at is I pay a sort of subscription $10 a month(not for a while) if I get my money back its a bonus if not, as long as I am having fun who cares :D
