Hi

Are there any calculators available to calculate the cost of selling item on auction or shop or apartment?

There are fixed % on all these options, right? Apartment has probably lowest with shopkeeper tt cost?

Shops pay 2.5% fixed fees, shopkeepers decay for 0.1 ped per sale, so at first glance putting SKs into an apartment looks cheaper. But SKs currently go for over 4.5k ped and hold 20 items each, while upgrading a shop costs 2k ped per 20 items, so depending on how many item points you need, running a shop quickly gets way cheaper.

Auction has a limit of 30 items per planet (map) so again depending on the scale of your operations it might be out of question (of course we don't consider employing secondary avatars and risking a ban for EULA violation).

I suspect above formulas are probably more correct, but just putting this here for historic perspective...

Yes, shopkeepers decay .10 per sale and then customer pays tax too.... Minimum markup in any shop is tt+1 and then tax adds on to that... so minimum is tt+1..02 overall basically with 2 pecs going to tax.

In ancient days shopkeeper decayed in a much more expense way... at some point in time Mindark change the way they worked, just like old Calypso apartments used to allow you to put items in hallways, but then they decided that it was a bad idea so removed that even though some other planets still allow it.

may have been changed again since then.... but.... as for formulas...

note - auction and shop calculations were recently changed in early 2013

Hi.

I noticed some days ago that the auction fees have been lowered.
For the estates, it has been reduced up to 90%, and for the rest up to 25% (for the highers markups).

Old Formula was:
Auction Fee = (0.5 + Markup * 99.5 / (1990 + Markup))

I found that for non-estates, it's now something like:
Auction Fee = (0.5 + Markup * 74.63 / (1493 + Markup))

But it seems accurate only up to a markup of 60,000 PED.

Did someone know the real formula?
==========more accurate:
Auction Fee = 0.5 + Markup * 74.625 / (1492.5 + Markup)

And for the estates:
Auction Fee = 0.5 + Markup * 9.95 / (199 + Markup)

Here's the Exact formulas:

Auction Fee/Commission = (0.5 + Markup * 99.5 / (1990 + Markup))

Shop Tax = (Markup * 49.75 / (1990 + Markup))

So as you start out at +1 Shops save you roughly 16% as a shop owner vs being an auction seller... As that number grows you start to approach 50% savings, but never quite make a full 50% savings. If these calculations are right, it just goes to show that MA|Planet Partner gets about 2x more out of it's cut of auction sales than Land Owners get ouf of shop taxes, and shows that it's cheaper, in the long run, for shop owners to sell in shops than in auction, assuming they can get regular repeat customers.... which isn't as easy to do as it might sound.

This is the most recent shop and auction fee guide that’s up to date (many are not): https://www.planetcalypsoforum.com/forum/index.php?threads/auction-and-shop-fee-guide.277052/

In short, neither auction nor shop fees are fixed percentages. You need specific formulas to calculate them, but anyone can roughly back calculate them with enough data points. As you increase absolute MU, the fee slows down in how quickly it increases.

As for shopkeepers, it’s hard to make them pay off since they are adding on 0.10 decay on top of the shop fee. If you’re running a shop with ROI in mind of saving auction fees while using some of that savings to discount your items under auction MU, it’s very difficult to come out ahead compared to a straight shop or even just selling on auction sometimes. If you already own a shop, it’s usually better to buy more item points than get shop keepers (barring some specific uses they have).

There is also the time limit to consider. If you put an item on auction, you have max 7 days. If it doesnt sell then you lose that auction fee and have to repost with another auction fee. Shops/Pads have no end date, and you can relist without incurring costs. For stuff that is hard to sell, this must be a massive big plus for shops/pads
