No, I don't need some cheese with my whine. In 15+ years of playing this game I've come to realize there really is no point whining. But whine I must...

A bit of backstory before I pour the whine :D

I was quite active since mind 2023 [after a long break of 2 years] and skilling with intent, upgrading gear, mentoring, soc-hopping [it's a hard life for people in my time zone], trolling + healing at the sweatcamps and ... generally ... just being an Entropian.

Some real life successes meant that I played the game at a higher PED burn than ever before. I don't feel the losses as acutely anymore, because, well, I'm not as poor as I once was. Generally all was well and I even did some grinding during Merry Mayhem for the first time. Nah, I didn't get anything good, but I had fun with my in-game friends and socmates while decked in gear I could previously only dream of.

Then came ... the interface update. It completely changed how I played the game and forced me to dump 10+ years of muscle memory and icon clusters and hotkey layouts ... and it was too much, so I decided to take a break and wait for community whining about the INFERIOR new interface to finally force MA's hand into giving us back some of the lost features of the old one.

And let me tell you ... it's another case of, if you want something done right, do it yourself. NOBODY complained! I logged in yesterday, and that interface is every bit the same frustration that made me take a 6 month hike again.

WHY? Did you sacks drop off? Am I to understand that most of the community prefers this new UI (not talking about the look so much as the functionality - which is inferior to the old one)? But before this thread gets locked as 'another UI bugfix threat in the wrong place' ... let me say I'm kind of over it. I've made the compromises I had to and my current mappings and shortcuts and icon clusters (forced into either vertical or horizontal pre-set containers) are ... liveable.

Will I ever be as fast dropping a probe while tagging a Hogglo? No. But maybe I was living too much on the edge doing that.

But back to pouring the whine ........ MY ARMOR LOOKS LIKE SHIT!

The old Jaguar Adj armor just looked so damn GOOD for a female avatar. So did Eon and several other armors. They had a distinctly feminine flow to them and I that's why my armor was as much a fashion preference as a defense choice.

The new Jag Adj looks horrid! I look like a damn Transformer. It's butch and bulky and square. I love the new detail and higher-rez mesh and crisper textures - don't get me wrong - but I no longer care to wear this and spin around my avatar looking at her from various angles and admiring how sleek the matted Jag Adj looked!

Even worse, previously Adj armors had more black sections in them (come on, we all want Shadow at some point in our life), and in the case of Jaguar Adj, a matted look on the main armor color for female sets (which made it distinct). Now the unadjusted Jag has more black in it.

The only armor I've seen that actually looks better now is Boar adj. I regret selling that set before the armor visual update, as I would much prefer to be in that over Jaguar adj at the moment. But it still looks like a 90s transformer! It's too bulky.

So ... there's a good pour of whine for those who want to take a sip. No, I'm not gonna put up a poll to ask how many people prefer the old armor and if we should get the old designs back with just higher res textures and meshes. The definition of stupidity is not doing the same thing repeatedly, it's expecting a different result every time. We can't change anything.

MA don't care - haven't for a long time - and me whining about it and plastering polls in my thread won't change that. Worst is that it seems it doesn't bother anyone else (or somehow I missed all the whine threads about the very thing I am mentioning here).

Oh well ... throw in your 2 cents into the Fountain of Whine ... before it gets cemented up. I, for one, would love to get my old armor back. It was perfect the way it was. Heck, charge me 100PED to do an IRREVERSABLE 'nostalgic look' nano reconstruction that takes my armor parts back to tier 1 on every part. I don't care. I just don't want to stand in this 'Pessimist Prime' suit that makes me look like a dude from every angle!

The new UI is trash and they made my Angel armor Pink. So my deposits have stopped.
They will not see another dime from me.
Will see if things change in UE5.

OH mannnn ......... I feel you. I've not seen angel yet. But PINK?!!!!!!!!!!! The whole point of Angel was to dazzle! If I owned a set of that, I'd be doing more than holding back depo's ... I'd be cashing out.

I fear all these changes are to align the game for UE5. I don't think there's any going back. Certainly not enough people care about the armor changes. I already had a few socmates and friends tell me, it's grown on them. Not me ... I can't stand the new armors. Even saw Shadow and now it has this pink disco light set on it. WTH?

But pink suits you Geo. Though lavender would suit you even more

There is an official thread where you can report a UI bug, which will get professionally ignored, but by posting it you have a privilege to complain.

Starting from the login screen it shows to what extent the update wasn't tested, not to mention color contrasts which can easily make you make auction bid mistake when tired, since the numbers blend with the background, headache due to extended gameplay where contrasts are terrible.

The new interface surely does not look amazing, I really miss those green skill increases from before, the color was nice and in a way addictive but my guees is that the new interface is less heavy on the graphics since UE5 will take a toll anyway on the GPU and not only.

Well as I plodder along doing some basic hunting and mining again ... I must say it's good to see the devs at MA focusing on what really matters: A fur stripe from cranium to cloaca for ... Berrycleds. This is the sort of attention to detail that makes me sigh...

Just gimme back my armor please :/

I really think I'm gonna sell the Jag now.

It is not confirmed UE5 upgrade will happen at all.

To be honest, this game has such massive, fundamental, and colossal problems with its economy, gameplay, exploits and manipulations, that I’m genuinely astonished people are even wasting time discussing the bad UI and pink armors.

I dunno, I think it's not that bad.

:boxer::popcorn:

If you think the Angel armor is pink then I would advise you to consume less whine or calibrate your screen/monitor. Angel armor is very white.

False statement.

You weren't here actively trying to make suggestions to MA.

People wishes, faith and hope crushed one by one.

Some credit for MA tho they did fix quite a few bugs and here and there added some qol improvments but it is still work on the progress.

Welcome back to the game!

PS: I still prefer old UI 😏

Having some improvements alongside the shoddy stuff that I would mark a schoolkid down on, let alone a company that is actually in the programming business, is not worthy of any praise in my opinion. It balances out to a fail in my book.
We're not even talking about things that aren't obvious, but basic window functions and sizes a lot of the time!!!
Even the blandness / poor brightness of the AH that I shake my head at and that has been commented on since the start... being not impressed is being pretty polite about it ...

Yep, there's no excuse for it.

Lately tho MA has increased communication and "trying".

I just hope they keep trying to improve the standarts we have gotten used to over the years.

I'd rather have that then nothing at all and dead silence. 👍

I also think the keyboard mapping change was bad. I think if they gave us back the ability to create the arbitrary buttons and map them to any key we want, alongside the existing system, i would be fine. i've adapted to the rest of it.

welcome back after the hiatus. just roll with the punches and don't let the ui stop you. you'll get used to it.

Ok, just to make sure it's not all piss and vinegar ... I DID find something I like about the new key-mapping. I like how I can use shift or ctrl to give the same hotkey 2 new functions. This is an actual multiplier of my most-used keys. Eg. ... I usually map my main weapon to Q. Then I'd map my finisher weapon to E. Now I can map both to Q and use shift to switch. I LIKE IT! =D

Only drawback is ... I can't use control to descend/dive :/ . I wish there was an option to turn off not all key modifiers but just one or the other. I decided to work around this for now by using Ctrl+space to descend/dive. Muscle memory is quite an inertia to overcome as I use Ctrl for crouch in every game I play.

OH AND ... I noticed my clothes no longer decay when I change them! =D

I still want my old Jad Adj look back. Till then the whine will flow...

Thanks JJO. Prompts me to add to earlier that improvements are a good thing, even if the balance is still poor or worse.

I also partially use the mapping of 3 sets of 10 to switch icon sets, which I almost never did in the old system with the layout numbers.
Of course I find the arrows are the wrong way round (at least for my brain's intuition), so I sometimes just go with my brain and click the wrong arrow twice, but oh well...
I believe we CAN use the Ctrl as a unique action if we switch it off as a multi-key (see settings), but I admit I dislike my current setup for vehicles too, both climbing and decending.
I've also said how I like the stackable loot window (but not its size) and current loot total, but then I look at the icons that don't update decay properly anymore - and there's the vinegar again...

My play time definitely tanked after the new UI went live. It is just so ugly to look at, and the AH in particular frustrates me. after a couple hours of playing I just feel like logging off to look at something nicer. Such a huge upset for myself and many others. Surely MA must agree with us on this. It was far from an improvement, and should have been immediately reverted.

Change can be frustrating, and I was somewhat annoyed, but after I took the time to make things pretty much work like they used to, I haven't noticed much difference. Like someone else said, I think there are bigger problems in this game.

Just listen to yourself :ROFLMAO:

Ok, well, SOME things have improved.

My favorite:
1. No more decay when changing clothes or facemasks! OHHHHH! I can finally change through all my outfits in a day!
2. Graphics look better than before for several areas. I actually enjoy wandering around again like a noobie and just gawking at the scenery
3. Ok ... the new armor look is growing on me. I'd still prefer the old design, but only if it could be as high-fidelity as the new one
4. Got a HOF and a FAT global for the first time in YEARS! I didn't even depo lol! Ok ... I know this is pure luck, but that was a nice surprise
5. I like the last batch of mayhem coats. It has such a better look than those Vampire coats that just look rushed

Oh, and I had a newbie at Icarus ask me what the game looked like before the Unreal update. I nearly spat my wine out over my laptop lol! I think I now see the sleight of hand MA pulled with the Unreal hype XD

Ok lah ... not too bad. I'm actually enjoying the game enough to play daily.

I almost spat my wine after reading this... This change happened years ago
