I think it is frustration that ruins a gamers experience with any game.

Games, especially video games, are supposed to be fun, entertaining, and stimulating.

They are NOT supposed to be frustrating, stressful, or annoying.


Now I'm not talking about bad loot, obviously we all want to hit the ATH and make it rich... what I am interested in is hearing your top 3 most frustrating experiences within Entropia that are beyond the obvious.


What is it that makes you the most frustrated with Entropia?


Here are 3 from me: (and now adding everyone's suggestions, might as well keep it going)

1. Extreme lag when other avatars are on the edge of my radar.
2. Exiting a space craft, only to fall 5 feet and die as if i fell 10000 feet.
3. Miss's at point blank range.
4. Removal of 'good/markup loot' from mobs unexpectedly.
5. 'Move to target' bug, messes up range.
6. LAG LAG LAG
7. New 'right click auto-shoots' even if no target is there.
8. Long withdrawal times, 3 months... really?
9. Unreachable 'uber' mobs, like the sand king... he can easily walk over all of us yet still gets stuck.
10. Unreasonable bad returns (example: 10-30% return in 1k+ cycled run, no one likes paying $100 a month, let alone an hour)
11. Slow graphics rendering.
12. Annoying graphics glitches.
13. Broken MA offical promises.
14. 3 year wait for taming.
15. NO/LOW priority to customers issues being fixed.

I totally started this last night with my 4th of July drunkenness, and didn't think at the time that I would have to spend time to update.... so with that said I will simply let the thread flow or die with you people.

THESE ARE THE REASONS THERE IS SHORT PLAYER RETENTION IN ENTROPIA. THESE ARE THE REASONS PLAYERS QUIT.

1. Removing gazz/iron from argo and drones.
2. 62m range on gun isn't 62m with "move to target" on.
3. Loot lags
and ill add 4. Needing to click on dead mob to claim a loot. It's kinda frustrating and I don't like it especially when hunting bots or other high agro mobs.

for me

gun freezing so cant shoot but still getting hit by mob till gun unfreezes

takes me SEVERAL tries to log in

getting tons of this item is currently busy when im trying to do things, mainly hunting but it causes additional decay thats not needed.

no way to search storage with a search block-so wasting time trying to find something
 
1. Failed messages, altough this is supposed to be from connection, I'm not so certain
2. Can I talk about loot?:) Extremly long bad loot periods, they should not be that long
3. Withdrawal time, altough I only withdraw once, but what if I had 200 CLD and needed the monthly payoffs?
4. No personal lootpool?:)

They changed that back to normal as far as i know. At least i don't have problems with it anymore.

Unreachable bullshit wasting my peds when the mob is just there dancing and not really unreachable.
 
1. Definitely the time needed for PC to load game objects in crowded places.
2. When you decide to try another profession for a moment and fail miserably with <=50% tt returns.
3 This item is currently busy.
 
When shooting a mob the gun you are holding goes up in the air and if you jump it is ok again, just when you fapped yourself and equip the gun again it does the same thing, over and over again.....:mad:

Sometimes this even causes to miss on the mob since the gun is blocking the crosshair of the mob..very annoying.

The booth bug in Entropia Universe is still going on after today's version update. This problem has existed since approximately December 5, 2010. This problem makes the in game estate completely useless since it cannot be used to hold any items. This problem came in to being when the deer mall estates, which had been messed up for about 3 years or so were put on the in game auction by the creators of this video game. This problem did not exist with booths from about January 2010-December 5, 2011. However, it did exist from about September - December 2009 after version update 10 caused the problems to start. That means long time owners of this type of estate have been dealing with this issue for nearly 6 months, even though it has not been a consecutive 6 months. This speaks volumes about how customers are treated in this game. The last customer support ticket that was submitted about this issue got a response that indicated that there is still no eta on the fix... I was hoping the version update today would have had a surprising fix, but I was let down yet again as another day passes that the estate my avatar owns, which cost approximately 500 US dollars, was left completely useless!!!!

That's another big frustration. I've had to upgrade hardware twice (read buy 2 brand new computers) in the last 3 years of participating just to be able to log in and enjoy the graphics at a level that makes it worth the effort. Most folks can't or won't buy new computers this often to keep up... so many are left out in the dark unable to log in regularly as MA and Planet Partners keeps adding more and more in game... and pushing graphics further than they should be... bad moves if they really do want to get more people to join the game, especially 'casual gamers' that only buy a new computer about once every 10 years or so.

Community segregation issues, etc. by those in the community that think they know more than others, but might not, and may end up being just as bad as the worse criminal in game, etc... hypocrites that lead the pack so to speak...

MA:
- trying to ToU and EULA away their (yet untried in court AFAIK) legal responsibilities.
- not fixing bugs in a timely manner.
- not fixing bugs reported unless the bug costs them money.
- not having even adequate QA.
- not having any open public communications with their customers. Communication is a two-way process. EF is not "open", and MA just stonewalls issues and put their heads in the sand whenever the feel like it.
- endorsing what IRL would be criminality, and what I think also is criminality in-system as it's actual money.
- not even caring about implementing anything to even try to prevent scamming. This could easily be seen as endorsing it, by lack of action.
- often working against instead of for their customers. Unfortunately that seems to be in their culture.
- displaying apathy to front-end mechanics improvement, whether suggested, fully designed or just implied.
- using substandard hard- and/or software, inducing unacceptable lag.
- ...

Bonehead "pirates", shooting down people with no loot over and over again just to be asshats. But these only exist because MA endorses this what would be considered grave criminality IRL.

Blindly cheering fanboys, cheering MA while trying to discredit valid criticism every chance they get. Sometimes I wonder if these aren't actually paid, maybe even employed, by MA. One thing I'm certain of; just one such person can damage EU as a whole ten times more than 20 persons whining.

- The forum that belongs to it, PCF, that locks often when submitting a reply or pm.
- Vehicles leaving or entering radar edge (repeatedly sometimes even) that cause a lag/freeze just like you get before a global sometimes.
 
My frustrations

Ingame:
- Still missing targets using maxed weapons.
- Difficulty to spawn VTOL.
- Inventory attracting anything on top lines.

IRL:
- New and old bugs at every VU.
- Having to post bugs and wishes on PCF when Support ignores them.
- Impossible to understand MA logic in some of their decisions.


Other than that, it's ok. :)

Amen. It's not just the occassional miss either... Usually if I hit one miss, it seems like it's 5-7 in a row these days!

I'm ok to miss with an unmaxed gun, thats the rule and its realistic. But missing a big mob with a finisher is making me :eyecrazy: since the beginning. I have read they "think" about changing the hunting system, and the inflicted damage *could* be function of the part of the mob aimed, why not, it will be more realsistic, so I hope they will remove the annoying 8% MISS on maxed stuff.

If you have only 8% MISS-rate, I'd say you have bought shares in MA, or are over lvl 100, 'cause I have never seen as low miss-rate over time.

But back to the MISSes; they can't remove them. Not without taxing us in some other way. The MISSes are the money MA takes (compare it to a croupier skimming chips off the table as you try to place bets) - it's their main source of income.
 
I find it frustrating that it takes level 100 to max old school "low level" guns such as an Adj hero or a Justy mk2. When will have mf UL chips rebalanced and weapons like phil swords being churned out by barrel load, it seems about time the "low level" old school guns were rebalanced so as to make them a tiny bit useable.
 
Landgrab needs more tools like claymores,team spawn,grenades rocket launchers for vehicles etc... you know be more like BF3 :)

I'm sure they could "adjust" the loot so that the "loot/cost to kill" ratio remains the same, whatever it is. :)

More to the point, throwing events and placing the mobs on servers that haven't been spec'ed to handle the heavy load without making it an unpleasant experience.

The netcode seems really crappy for a RCE where subpar design costs some people real money. It became clear to me years ago that the the European teammates i had could get higher effective reloads than i could. There was also the recurring issue with the backbone network that EU sits on (telia) having huge problems communicating to the US node (thread around here for anyone who cares to search). I suspect MA has not done much optimization for poor network connections and high pings. Some specific things that i think should be done:
  • once you turn on autofire, the server should keep your weapon firing at its maximum rate until you turn off autofire or it has, say, 5 seconds without an update from the client on the autofire status. It should cache enough actions to revert as necessary for that 5 s back to the time when the client received the autofire off command.
  • if synchronization with the client is lost, the mob should miss attacks for the activity period lost for the avatar
  • if an avatar is online but synchronization has been lost, and a client makes a valid login attempt, ffs drop the previous connection and connect up the client with the valid login attempt! THERE'S NO REASON TO TELL ME MY AVATAR IS STILL ONLINE AND REJECT MY LOGIN ATTEMPT WHEN MY CONNECTION DROPPED 20 SECONDS AGO! </rant>
  • Don't make an avatar vulnerable and visible until some very short period before the client has active control over it
  • fix whatever stupid code makes an item stuck. I can't think of any reason this should be able to happen.
  • Persist at least the last /pos marker on the user's map

Two lines of pseudocode:
if mob makes attack attempt on avatar, reset Unreachable timer for ~10 s
if mob is moving (dx/dt or dy/dt > small value), Unreachable timer may not decrease

Also would like search for storage, but i'd settle, for now, for the scroll being fixed again.
