Many people must have wondered if the Ziplex TK120 OreSeeker (L) with 701.5m average depth is worth it at all, I just bought a full TT (218.6 PED) one from auction for 2404 PED (1099.7%). Here I will post how many rare ores I've found with this finder till it's broken:

Full TT: 218.6
Code:
#...Resource.....TT Value..Depth...Amp......Est. Value...Finder Value Left
1...Gold Stone...9 PED.....719m....OA-102...54 PED.......209.71
2...
Broken TT: 6.56

(The X is just an example) :ahh:

Keep updating!

cool, waiting for your results...

subscription :D

I will check your results with high interest.

You plan to list all your rare finds but i think it would also be usefull to record the depth and size of all your finds.

I just bought a Z25 and it looks like all the claims i do find are always "above" 500 m and smaller than with my 105.

I only had a 300 bombs run but this pattern looked weird to me.

Try also another thing. In the end, look back at rare ores and calculate if markup on them payed for the markup on orefinder. I am very curious.

I do that on my mining data, I can list the depth of all my finds after like 400 ~ 500 drops.

That's what I'm actually going to do. :ahh:

Nice experiment PkmX. Looking forward to see results!

Great experiment. ill be suscribing here :D

Subscribing as well. Good luck with the experiment and looking forward to the outcome. I have been running something similar with TK120 (have "consumed" half so far) so if it helps anyone:

- Do NOT go to CND with this finder; it was an absolute catastrophy in the 3x100 bomb runs I made there (hey, should have guessed that before wasting my PEDs... there is not that much rare stuff at CND )

- I find that I at least break even if not profit when I go to areas where there is proven rare ores (mainly adomasite and gold)

- It's the ultimate Gold finder (for me at least... not an uber miner here; 28 lvl prosp or so). On a 100 bombs run with TK120 and OA-102 (cost incl. markups 280 peds approx.) I get 2-3 Gold VII finds. With markups that's 125 PEDs back only from Gold. That means that the other ~30 successes need to make up for the remaining 155 PEDs of cost which is not that difficult with a OA-102. Especially given the occasional global.

All that if you take the finder into proven rare find areas. Anywhere else it's a big gamble (and did I say how much I love gambling?)

Tromos

Thx for the tips Tromos, +rep anyway :yay:

I've dropped 100 bombs with it now on some known rare ore locations (according to "kerham says" thread), still no success in it, but it's just a start.

Contiune look for my Ruga tower :tower: :yay:

300 bombs on CND is very small amount. That's like dropping 50 bombs on Calypso and saying 'dont mine on Calypso with this finder, not much rare stuff there' :)

So far 300 bombs dropped according to kerham says thread without a single rare ore find, keep going :ahh:

fair enough comment. That doesn't change though the fact that CND doesn't have much rare stuff therefore there is little to no point in having an expensive finder that searches deep. It's a waste of PEDs imho given that a 105 and a 211(L) will find all the resources in most domes with just 1/10th of the cost.

I still went ahead and tested it though, and 300 bombs was more than enough for me to quit :D

CND has xeremite, gold, langotz, valurite, maganite, tridenite what else you need lol? :)

I think your prospector pro standing level would be relevant information here...

Almost 15 level (14.9 I think) prospector. :ahh:

Enough to max TK120 though.

If you believe that it has any relevance at all once the finder is maxed... I found no difference between using it when just maxed and up to level 24 prospector. Which was enough of the rarer things to profit most runs (using OA 104s on it) but not enough to cover the markup on the finder itself. That's where I guess you just have to get lucky and find a global or two of rare ores.

Good luck with it :)

Just wondering if you have found all these yourself. Realityport lists only langotz from the above, which I can confirm myself. Other than that I have dropped thousands of bombs up there with 105/211 (ok, not the best finders for rare stuff) and have never found anything else.

I do vaguely remember though a screenshot or two of somebody finding rare stuff at CND so perhaps miracles happen once in a while :D

In general I've found that the higher my prospector pro standing goes, the more often I've found rare ores. I think someone with level 40 prospector would have better results than someone with level 15, for example. I think there has to be a large difference though for it to be noticeable.

I saw a screenie on here today of someone finding Xeremite in dome 5.

results?

:scratch2: +rep .how often iu will post the results?

Indeed, that was posted today as if to make me eat my words  ... mmm... naaaahh... I think MA is screening this post and decided to throw in a surprise

No screenies anywhere in EF though for valurite/tridenite (there are a couple old ones for Gold)

I saw a gold screeny in dome 7? a few months back. It's there, but agreed, I think your chances would be better on the planet if you know the areas.

EHM

Kirtz ~400%, Petonium ~200%, XERE (which I found today) ~2k%

Please dont go to CND. There is no rare ores there for you :D

I.

Sure I do... just not with an expensive finder :D

I find petonium frequently up there but 200% (max) doesn't pay for the markup of the finder and that's what all the discussion is really about. I 'd rather go to dome 18 with a 105/211 and get all the narcanisum in the world that I can sell for 170-180% without paying all that markup on the TK120 .

If you find xeremite so frequently in CND that pays for your expensive finders then what can I say... congratulations to you :wtg: . For me Amethera is about the only "safe" place to use expensive finders

Once I find a rare ore deposit

Btw, I also find it's quite hard to find stuffs at regular places with this finder ... that means if you don't hit one or two rare ore deposits you will be in big loss ...

Just managed to find my first rare ore with TK120:

[br]Click to enlarge[/br]

9 PED TT of Gold at markup 600% = 54 PED, first post updated.

ive never used any of the larger finders but by the sounds of things , am i right in saying that you only really find the rare stuff and all the useral crap gazz narc cald etc you cant find because the finder is searching deeper. please tell me you still find those aswell :scratch2:

I've found from lyst to gazz to niks and that gold above with it, I've found lyst beyond 850m also, it's still possible to find those stuffs at deep depth.

Yes, you can still find pretty much everything, including lyst unfortunately

There is obviously a turn though towards finds that lie deeper. I find zinc and narcanisum more frequently in the resource window compared to lower finders.
