Saturday – Sep 5th – 16:30 In-World Time​

The first of many MindStar Radio (MSR) road trips will take place this Saturday, Sep 5th. Come join us in an adventure with no specific destination in mind, other than to explore our universe. All road trips will follow a road or path leading out of a city somewhere on Calypso. There may be forks in the road along the way, and it will be a majority vote as to which direction we explore. The unknown is what will make these road trips interesting and unique, not to mention an opportunity to introduce ourselves to the redesign of our planet after the CryEngine2 implementation. There is much to see, and plenty of fun to be had, especially with those along whose creativity knows no limits.

We will meet at the Fort Fury teleporter at the designated time, which has been changed from the original time posted due to scheduling conflicts. The road trip will consist of following a path to wherever it leads us, and encountering whatever the wild presents to us along the way. It is anticipated that this road trip will last at least for a couple of hours, as our goal is not to take a direct course to another city (although we may pass one along the way), but to explore Calypso and familiarize ourselves with our new environment, and rediscover just where the wildlife now inhabit our fair planet.

Not to worry though, because we will make sure that at the end of the adventure, everyone gets back to civilization safely. We will leave no road tripper behind.

AND … if there are any globals or hofs during the course of our adventure, the person with the highest global or hof will win an additional prize ... which will be announced in this thread at the end of the road trip, and after the posting of the winning global or hof.

PHOTO CONTEST

In the course of our travels, we will experience not only magnificent vistas that produce Ooo’s and Ahh’s, but perhaps mob encounters and avatar antics worth capturing on film. Therefore, with each of the road trips, there will be a photo contest with one single winner, and determining that winner will be done in a very unique way (see below). The prize for each photo contest is 100 PED.

HERE ARE THE RULES:

• You must be a member of the road trip group to be eligible
• Names of each member present on the trip will be recorded
• You are allowed only one entry per contest
• Photos must be taken along the path of the road trip
• All photos must have a clear screen (no hud/icons)
• Photos must be posted in thumbnail format only at
.....Entropia Forum
• Photos must be posted in this Fort Fury road trip thread
• Entries must be posted no later than 23:59 in-world time
.....on the Monday following each Saturday road trip to be eligible

CHOOSING A WINNER

The winner of each Road Trip Photo Contest will be chosen using the EuroMillions Draw method. Everyone’s eye through the camera lens is subjective, and therefore, worthy of merit for effort and personal composition and creativity.

HERE’S HOW THE DRAW METHOD WORKS:

• Based on EuroMillions Lotto

• Every Friday, this lottery generates 5 numbers + 2 lucky star numbers

• These 7 numbers (with the zeros removed from the lucky star numbers) that are posted at the lotto site the Friday after each photo contest will be used to determine the winner

• The “Modulo” mathematical function will be used to calculate the winning number … you can find information about this function here.

• A number will be assigned to each photo in the order posted

• Each entrant’s name, along with designated number will be updated in the original post

• As an example: if there are 25 entries, and the EuroMillion numbers the following Friday after the photo content are … 9 – 14 – 19 – 21 – 34, with the star numbers being 05 and 07 … the zeros would be removed from the 05 and 07 and the number used with the Modulo function would be: 91419213457 … and the winning photo entry number would then be: 7

• You can test this formula out yourself by activating your Windows calculator (Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Calculator) … enter 91419213457, click on the “Mod” key, then enter 25 and press the equal symbol … and Voila!!​

HOW TO JOIN A ROAD TRIP

There will be a separate thread for each MSR – EU Road Trip, and they will be posted in the MSR sub-forum with specific details. You can post your intent to join a road trip in each road trip thread.

LIVE COVERAGE

Each road trip will be broadcast live on MindStar Radio (MSR), and the names of all participants will be mentioned on-air prior to the start of the road trip. Upbeat music will be played to keep the energy high during our trek across Calypso, and each participant is invited to submit their own selections to be included on the playlist. Each submitted selection will be reviewed to make sure that it is in compliance with standards set not only by MSR, but the EULA and our radio station host as well. Post all song requests in each separate road trip thread and include full artist name and song title prior to the start of each road trip.

Yes Indeed ... it should be a fun day, and it will be interesting to see just what we run into along the way ... but then, there are those coming along who have a knack for creating interesting and humorous experiences, so anything goes. :silly2:
 
Giving this a B-U-M-P ... come join us for some fun on this first of many MSR Road Trips ... let's see where we end up on these adventures, as well as what we encounter along the way. The next one on Sep 12th will be out of East Scylla to the golf course area ... which is also quite an amazing environment, and an interesting path of roads to travel. :D

Great photos ... and I'm adding a few of my own, just to show off the scenery of course. There may have only been a small group of us, but what fun this road trip was. It was interesting to find out what we would encounter along the way, and also just where the road would lead. The Fort Fury road ended at the river, and then we took an easterly course toward Zychion where we ended this trek.

However ... we had a few challenges along the way with server crashes, and Aegyan getting stuck in a tree, but Cherries tried to chop him out with her blade ... didn't work though. We really need to have this capability if we are going to trek into the wild like this. :D

And ... even if you don't join our road trip groups, try to put together a group of your own and give it a shot, because it's a great way to rediscover Calypso, and get some amazing photos along the way ... not to mention finding out what wildlife you'll run into. :silly2: On this trip, we ran into a LOT of Feffoids, Faucervix, Tripudions, Atrox, Maffoids, Molisks, Foul, Argos, Gokibusagis ... a nice eclectic group of friends who wanted to join our road trip. :laugh:

I never did get a pic of my Global...Server crashed just as the swirlies popped.

First post has been updated ... my apologies for the lateness in getting the information added for the photo contest, but it's all there now.

Also ... just as a heads up ... the MSR Road Trips will take place every other week, rather than every week, and I have updated the MSR programming schedule with the next road trip taking place on Sep 19th, which will be out of Twin Peaks. There will be fun along the way, and far more engaging than the Fort Fury road trip, so be sure to join us. It will be at the regularly schedule time for these road trips, which is 16:30 in-world time. A new thread will be posted soon.
