I’m jumping on the bandwagon by starting a diary to keep track of my progress in PE

Sunday, 02/12, marked my 3 month anniversary in PE, and what a great day it was! Not only did I unlock RDA, but Gryffon and I got a nice HoF just before the end of the 10k Peds in 10 Days event.

November 12th feels like ages ago. I remember browsing through CNN and finding an article about a virtual space station being sold. So I Googled Project Entropia, saw that it was free to play (yeah right!) and hit the download button. I convinced Gryff to do the same and we arrived in Fort Troy in nothing but our aesthetically pleasing orange jumpsuits and spent the next hour or two figuring out how to move and how to sweat. There were many CND noobs (as Gryff calls us) dropped on Calypso that weekend. I remember many orange jumpsuits running around with a mob or two or three or four (you get the point) trailing behind them. Once we got the basics down it did not take us long to realize the best strategy is to follow the hunters or to run for the river when the mob is giving chase. I did the sweat thing for.. uhm.. an hour or so when I decided I needed a gun. Found the transfer link on the login page, made a deposit, and have been wearing that link out ever since  And so my path as a hunter begun.

After 2 months freelancing I decided that it was time to join a Society. Gryff and I wanted to be in the same one, so we started asking around and checked the forums. We came up with a short list of Socs that piqued our interest and after a recommendation decided, HU it is. We started tracking BadBoyz down in every forum we could find and pestered him until he let us in ;) It’s been a little over a month now since we joined and we’ve had a blast participating in those fun and crazy soc hunts and chats.

I started the usual route of the opalo but at 2.5K rifle I decided to switch to handgun (as my primary) as soon as I’d reached 3K. After a comment from Gryff, I realized that it fits my playing style better – I’m a bit of a cowgirl. :handgun: I reached my goal early last week and started skilling with my pistol right away and I love it.

Well, that’s my 3 month PE life in a nutshell.

*dusting off diary*

Well, I passed the 4 month mark a week or so ago and I am now an Experienced Pistoleer and am anxiously waiting for Proficient. To celebrate my 4 month anniversary I bought a few nice, but expensive toys and a coat. The coat is staying in storage until I've unlocked Serendipity (I have cheated a few times -- just couldn't resist wearing it  ).

One of the reasons I have not reached Proficient yet is because I took up an earlier hobby of mine again -- tailoring. I stopped doing it before because it's so expensive, but I guess I lost all sanity in the mean time :tongue2: I have also had many globals in it, but I think I realized what every tailor (and surely crafter) knows and that is that you need those just to tailor again

I have decided to keep my diary positive. This way I am reminded why I am sticking it out. There are enough places in this forum to vent my frustration anyway. So here's a list the things I love about PE:

1. No level cap
2. No classes
3. No fantasy genre
4. My soc. I know I'm suppose to say the PE community, and it is the case. But HU has become very special to me. I think one of my most enjoyable times are the Friday night, tipsy and on team speak hunts  Other things I love about them is the humour, the teasing, the help, the advice, the encouragement.... and the list goes on and on.

Another thing I have decided not to write about in my diary is my personal life which means I will not be updating it that often. My real life is boring anyway :silly2:

Well, that is it for now.

Goals:
1. Get Proficient
2. Get a lock on at least one of my Tailoring BP books :D
3. Serendipity

Well, I was trying to stay positive in here but this lag build-up is taking all the fun out of playing. I have a new computer on the way and if things improve with that I will keep on playing. If not, I will not play anymore until the lag has been fixed. I can deal with the "No Loots" I cannot deal with the lag or poor FPS.

Confession: Contrary to what I stated in my previous post I kept playing. Sometimes I hate my lack of self discipline. :dunce: The problem is that my current computer has no disk space left and I had to install some of the games I have on CD, so I did not have much else to play. My new computer is arriving today and I can reload all my games but it may also improve the PE lag I have experienced. So, it is kind of a catch 22 situation. At least now I will have a few distractions when I run out of money in PE. With the exception of the 2 pieces of Jaguar parts I still need to buy, I have put myself on a budget. Now if I can only get those pieces

I have reached two of my goals stated earlier. I am now a Proficient BLP Pistoleer and one of my Tailoring BP books got a lock a couple of nights ago. It may take a while before the other one gets it. I have also decided to cut back on Tailoring until I have unlocked Serendipity.

On a sad note, Gryff has cut his PE time radically. He still plays every now and again, but has started playing other games more and more. I will probably do the same, but I will definitely spend more time in PE than he would. It is going to be lonely not having him there that frequently anymore.

Well, that's it for today. Off to read a few more threads :computer: and then go skilling :sniper:

I have the day off

I already posted here today, but what's one more post?

Of my 3 goals I have one left and have decided to challenge myself a bit. On April 12th I would have played PE for 5 months. My challenge to myself (and I'm probably setting myself up for failure :smash: ) is to reach Serendipity before or on that day (end of day being 11:59 Pacific Daylight Time). After that I will come up with a new set of goals for myself.

Longus here I come. :handgun:

Did It

I made Great Pistoleer and Serendipity last night with about 2 - 3 hours to spare. I have been pressing that 'K' button almost every 5 minutes so I almost jumped out of my chair when I saw the green text.

After spending days checking the Auctioneer almost every half hour of the time I was in game I also managed to complete my Jaguar set. I overpaid for the last 2 pieces but kind of expected it since it was difficult to find.

Other news is that I got a Soc Promotion a couple of nights ago. This was a complete surprise  I also looted this nice little Tiger helmet :tongue2:

That's it for now. I'm thinking about my next set of goals and will post them soon.

My next goal is going to be a tough one. I'm going to try for 5k pistol by my 6 month PE anniversary (05-12). I stole this idea from Gryffon (I just knew he wouldn't be able to stay away for long :tongue2: ).

I will update my diary weekly with my progress. This way I can keep track of my average gains per week. Right now I'm at 4191. :handgun:

Weekly update #1:

Total skills: 58,515
Pistol: 4477 (Inspiring BLP Pistoleer)

Yeah, it's been a while. All goals mentioned above have been accomplished.

A while back I've decided not to even bother with a diary anymore. PE/EU has lost a lot of its luster for me, and I really have to force myself to log in these days (sorry, Donald :( ).

I wanted to post this in the thread mentioned below, but I did not want to ruin the mood in one of the few fun threads in these forums. So I decided to post it here.

I read a thread in the forums today that made me sadder and angrier than I have ever been with MindArk. And no, it's not the 80k+ spide trapping ATH.

It's this one. And no, it's also not because I don't think they deserved it. I think they all did a great job and used a lot of creativity, but that's my problem. I've read the thread about the contest and all the excitement and the build up. And then the waiting and waiting. Eventually Marco posted something, but he couldn't even get the dates right. One of the players had to take most of the heat (once again). Then when the date arrived, a message was slapped onto the Headlines News burried in the official website while Mark Kostabi's pic is still on the front page.

Would it have been such a drain on your resources and space to have to entries posted on your site, and then the finalists and finally the winners?

Don't you get it? We are the people who love your game.

The people playing your game are the ones spending their free money and time on the avatars they created in your universe. The people playing your game are the ones who would spend even more time making outfits to look like their avatars and enter a contest I'm not even sure you started.

Don't you get it that we don't really care about your art museums and "trendy" new fashions? Honestly, we ask so little. All most of us want is to make this universe you created a little less frustrating and to acknowledge your fans, even if it means just a premier spot on your site and a bit of a build-up.

MindArk isn't it time to celebrate your fans instead of your investors? Remember, without fans there will be no investors.

Well, I'm out. I am going to sell my big ticket items and then help Donald complete his discipleship. When he has completed it, I will give whatever item I have recieved to him and sell the rest of my stuf.

I just want to add... If it wasn't for the great society I've joined, I would probably not have stayed this long. Thank you HU :)

Wow! I had to go dig this one out from page 99 I think:D

Well, I'm back. Yeah, what's new. Like little pups many of us return to the den:D

I have actually returned a while back, but then a certain game came out with an expansion pack and I was sucked back in. That lasted a few months until I got so bored just hearing the in-game music made me want to fall asleep. After I got out of that addiction some real life stuff happened and I did not do much gaming of any kind for a while.

But here I am... real life has been sorted (or I should say it was time to move on), and I found myself with some free time on my hands:D I came back thinking I'll work on increasing my overall skills and took up mining and melee. That was until I saw all the posts by people that have unlocked Coolness. So, I did a 180 and decided to go for that instead. The problem is that I now only have a rifle and my handgun skills are quite higher than my rifle skills. I may have to fork out some money for a new BLP pistol. Oh, well... it's just money, right?:D

I have a few tailoring blueprints that I may be able to get something decent for. I have been saving them for a rainy day, but maybe that day is now:)

I also joined a new Soc. Well, I'll be in a trial period for a month and will have to behave myself:D But I'm sure it will work out well. I have only been in one soc and they were some of the greatest people I've known in this game. But I think this is a good time for a fresh start and some new friends.

I'm going to leave it at that for now. I need some dinner and will probably not proof read this -- which means I'll cringe the next time I see it:D

On Saturday I was having a guest over and since I love cooking (this is how I bribe people to visit me:D) and trying out new recipes, I thought I'd do a google search for a different version of a dessert I like to make. So I did the search, found a few hundred pages of results, and started going through the first few. Even before I hit the second page... BAM! Anti-virus software telling me I have a virus. I kid you not... from a recipe site. Or maybe it was a hole in the google toolbar security (which I have uninstalled since then) or some latent virus waiting to pounce on me when I least expected it. All I can say it was bloody awful -- my computer was doing 5 miles an hour.

Well, I didn't have time to deal with at that time since I had a guest coming over, so I switched off my monitor and decided to worry about it on Sunday. So, I spent the whole Sunday afternoon and evening trying to get rid of this f**** virus. Obviously my anti-virus software was not able to remove it (even in safe mode), so in the end I did a search on the web. Yes, I'm a computer noob and thought that my software will just miraculously fix it.

I found a couple of forums posts with people asking for help, and so I followed the steps they gave. Most of the help on these forums asked the posters to post logs after each step, which I did not do. But I think I got it fixed. There are no more annoying pop-up windows everytime I open a browser window, no more yelling from my virus software, and the CPU speed seems to be back to normal.

I was too scared to log into anything except forums this weekend, but when all seemed okay on Monday morning I finally ordered 2 gigs of ram -- I only have 500 megs right now. I really hope I can have it before this weekend. EU does not like me and my 500 megs:(

Got the new RAM and I love it. I actually had 1 gig before the upgrade. Only realized that after I opened the computer. I'm such a techie nub:D

This has been a very disappointing week. My daughter and I were planning a trip to Ireland at the end of September. We were so excited about it, that's until I realized that my passport is expiring less than 6 months after the trip. According to the Irish consulate (I sent them an email) this would be a problem. So now I'm trying to get a new passport.

Only problem is that I need to apply through the South African consulate in the US and it can take up to 6 months:( I got all the forms printed, except one. The one I couldn't print was for the finger prints and I need to send a self addressed and stamped envelope to the consul to get it. That's just stupid.

Anyway, I've learned by now there's no point in arguing... just do as they say. I'm thinking of maybe going in January. The weather would be really crappy, but I'm sure Guinness can fix that:D

I still need to tell my daughter:(
