just wondering wether it makes any difference at all if you wait untill coolness (or even serendip) before swinging that axe. the point in doing this btw is that it would give you more hp.

i thought "yes" at first, but the more i rack it over in my brain, the more it doesnt make sense:

because you have coolness and seren, you will gain lb, ser, and cool skills, which would give the impression of more skill gain (and hp gain). but if i were to skill lb before unlocking seren and cool, would this affect the total amount of hp i could recieve? i used to think it would, but i dont anymore. reason is because you have already say 3-4k in lb, and then u unlock seren and cool. well, you would already have gotten a few hp gains from lb. also, you will get just as much cool and sere gains as you would have had you only had lvl 1 in lb, because its not the lb gains that trigger the sere and cool gains, its the fact that coolness and sere are at a very low level that they increase so fast to begin with. so, unless lb gains in some way trigger cool and sere gains, it doesnt realy make a difference how you skill to gain hp, its just that if you wait untill coolness is unlocked, your hp will shoot up faster than had you not waited.

am i right here?

I see what you are saying and it's a provisional maybe. It all depends on LB and Ranged skills giving the same supplementary skill gains. Either way at 10K of each for example you would have the same HP no matter which you skilled first, but if LB gives more HP levels than Ranged, or vice versa then it would make the difference for early HP depending on the path chosen.

I took this route except I skill SB instead of LB.... it takes alot more work and time and maybe ped(?) to unlock seren. and coolness with melee but in the long run you will gain the same amount of hp, its just a matter of how quick you want sere/coolness I guess

serendipity doesn't increase very fast, so if you're looking at it from a total skills aspect then forget about it. Serendipity also done't give hp (or very very very very little).

Obviously coolness gives nice hp, but is a bitch to unlock, and i'm not sure how fast it rises. I'll let ya know in a week or so. ;)

i think you have both been confused.
this isnt a discussion about how to unlock seren and coolness, nor is it about comparing skilling melee with ranged.
it is about the best way of increasing your hp with lb. and is it worth the wait of unlocking seren and coolness before doing so.

sorry, i misunderstood.

and lb doesn't give hp.

-You will unlock Coolness fast through longblades (especially if you want to take a shortcut with lb-prices today)
- Lb doesn't give you hp, mc does
- Coolness doesn't rise fast thanks to MA f#cking General gains
-If you go longblades natural way you will gain less agility than ranged users but you will gain useless strength instead
-In the end it doesn't really matter in which order you unlock what skill, hp will still be sum of hp giving skills :p

wasnt talking to you enum heh, we posted at the same time. and i thought lb was supposed to be a good hp giver??

only melee combat gives hp (1 hp for every 500 levels), and it's slow as hell to skill. None of the actual "melee" items like lb, sb, clubs, whip, ect give any hp at all.

If you're looking for hp, i'd say skill rifle or hg, preferably both, and chip courage and melee combat.

Specialise, Unlock, Generalise ;)

Just for clarification, I was under the impression that Strength gives HP. Is that not true? I was going to start using my enblade more because my strength atribute is so low.

I don't believe strength or agility nor any of the attributes give any HP whatsoever.

Haven't noticed any hp gains and Strength is now at 81.

I also have not seen much HP increase with Strength. I started out the game (almost 2 years ago:cool: ) skilling LB and got strength up to 57 and still had less than 100 HP. Once I started skilling rifle my HP increased much much faster.

Ann, my wife, started straight-off with primarily HG just about 8 months ago and is now only about 5 HP behind my 128.

yea, i'd say hg is probably one of the best professions for building hp (short of chipping a bunch of courage), since it skills faster than rifle.

Strength does give HP, and I am sure its not one of those lagged gains.

Omg look at my Peds, do I get EFD for that? :D

shouldnt the strength gain come before the health gain if it really affected it? or was it lagging or doesnt the order matter?

and thanks for clearing it up guys, will carry on with rifle :sniper:

Nope, the relevant skill gain comes immediately after the health increase. That was a great screenie to grab Nebu. Nice job!

What he said. :wise:

And Enum, serendipity skills very fast, especially compared to the other general skills. Mine has passed up all my general skills and i just unlocked it a couple month ago.

andyzammy, if you have the discipline for it, focus on one specific weapon type until you get the unlocks. That way all your other weapon skilling (afterwards) gives you gains in the unlocked skills, plus your secondary skills will make you more efficient from the start with other weapons. I used rifle until unlocking mms, and then switched to handgun mostly until i unlocked coolness. There's really not much skilling involved to get to mms compared to coolness, but i still wish i'd just started with hg and stuck with it throughout. At this point i'm skilling up rifle and will probably not use hg again, but i have good secondary skills (high min damage for example) and some extra hp from the hg skills, and i get coolness now as i push up my rifle skill.
