Odd that you dont have a heading named "bugs"

on 2006-08-12 23:58:27 pos:0,0,2280 myself and 6 others completed a beacon mission (23tt), though after killing the Boss and clearing the top/last floor we did not get a message confirming that the floor was killed or that we were able to then loot the boxes...as I have on the last 10 or so beacon missions I have been on. We double checked the floor to make sure there were no robots that maybe didnt show up on radar but nothing else was on the last floor for us to kill and we were not able to loot any of the boxes.

I was a little hessitant at doing a beacon this VU because of the extraordinary amount of bugs that are still ingame and have yet to be fixed, but I was not the owner of the beacon so I just went along to help my friend because of my past knowledge and experience with other beacons..but never the less...we were stuck with a "bugged" beacon that could not be finished because of your programming errors. Needless to say we all lost a lot of peds from ammo and decay as well as our time...things are starting to get pretty bad around here and it is very disapointing and disheartening after all the time and $ we have spent in support of this game over the years. I know it is traditional in this case to replace the beacon, but again, it is very disapointing and disheartening that you might not also replace the real life $ we lost due to this programming error...I hope that you surprise me and prove me wrong. It is bad enough that we must continually tollerate the bug that allows Drones/robots to shoot us players thru solid objects while we are not able to do the same after all these years..but the fact that this and other bugs continually go unfixed while other "decorative upgrades" go on is becoming more and more disapointing...as players and supporters we are often left to wonder where the priorities are within the company. Though as each VU comes and the same programming errors go unfixed, we have less reasons to wonder.

I have saved a screenshot, if needed< of the time/position stamp and the names of the people in the beacon party. The owner of the Beacon was : XXX XX XXX. Though Im sure you already have records of this since it has been stated many times by many different MA employees that you keep these types of records from the game...however, if my screenshot is needed, I can provide it.

Thank you for your assistance, I trust you will do the right thing for the players involved.

14 Aug 2006 MindArk Support:
Hi,
Thank you very much for this detailed information. We will certainly further investigate what might have happened and try to prevent it from happening again. We are constantly working on keeping the system stable. On rare (lol) occasions, however, issues that affect the performance of the system occur. This is due to technical issues, which are unforeseeable and therefore hardly avoidable. In the End User License Agreement (§12), it is stated that MindArk is not liable for the participant’s expenses or losses that may arise from the use of the Entropia Universe.

We again thank you for your patience and participation in the Entropia Universe.
Regards,
Entropia Support

edit : please please please open a server in the US :D I double dare you :)

They will never add a server to the US for a couple of reasons:

1) The EULA would not be able to be worded that way, consumer laws protect people from companies who have a EULA that says if we screw you, you have to like it. If we steal from you we are not responsible.

2) They would be subject to the same laws every other Casino is subject to.

just send one back sayin you dont want to hold them liable, take em to court or even get a fortune off them, but a little `good will` would be nice!

you will get nothing tho, i dont think they know what `good will` means!

appalling

you may have a legal standing however, because you did not get what you paid for

you paid for it through ammo, decay (fact because ma takes the money from you)

and you did not get what the product describes which is boxes at the end to open

if you buy a tin of beans and get peas instead but the packaging says beans,
is the shop you bought it from entitled to say forget you, we're not responsible deal with it? no is the answer and the same applies here

It absolutely pathetic that they can't replace a beacon in this scenario. Imagine if other businesses could get away with such poor service and respect for its customers. It would be a nightmare anytime you went somewhere.

Very true. You can't get away with this BS in the US. However, you have to understand that Mindark doesn't mean to (I think?) have these bugs in-game, and they are doing what they can to fix them. If Mindark were a company in the US the entropia-universe would most likely cease to exist in its current state, and none of us would be able to enjoy it. If you think EU not existing is a good thing, then why the hell are you here right now reading this? Maybe when Mindark cleans up their act they will be able to spread out more globally, but until then, they have a lot of cleaning up to do.

Marco thankfully stated that the next 6 months are going to be a "polishing" VU, where the focus is on fixing bugs and other technical problems. Maybe when Mindark gets to a certain state of stability with both the software and the economy, there may be a change in EULA in-store for us where we actually gain some rights to our (their) posessions.

In the state it is in now, the Entropia-Universe needs the EULA it currently has in order to survive. We can only hope that this can be improved on in the future. :wise:

Im fairly certian the beacon will be returned to the original owner, he sent in his support before I did and his case hasnt been answered yet, so I assume they are verifying things so to compensate him for it...I will update later as to their response....but as far as I know bugged beacons have always been returned.

As far as the ammo/decay compensation, as stated I got the responce I had expected since as far as I know, noone else has ever had ammo/decay compensation from the same situation.

The wouldnt even of bothered to send a support case other than to support the beacon owners case and to help the beacon compensation to be easier verified and more smooth.

I only created the post to warn others who are thinking of doing a Beacon in the near future, because they are still bugged (same bug that has existed for quite a long time now, is nothing new). And concidering the people that went before us also had a bugged beacon (found out 24hrs later) then it is not rare as support has stated, it is closer to common, and borderlining on predictable now. But also, all beacons are not bugged, as many people have had successful missions.

So the post is more of a warning, you may have a good beacon mission, but if you do not and it is bugged then the $ you spend on ammo and decay will not be compensated because MA is not liable for their poor programming or software. Unless of course, as we all know, there is a player or players with autoclickers during a Land Grab...then there will be compensations in the amount of 1000's of peds for your lost ammo/decay/and time. As we all have learned for thier actions....not all player$ are treated equally.

So, concerning future beacon missions...take into account that a 23-25tt beacon costs around 100-150ped to clear in ammo/decay and if it is bugged because of their poor programming then your $ will not be retuned, so you should expect that you may be spending all that time and $ for nothing.

Again, all beacons are not bugged....so you are basically taking a gamble...pun intended.

I would like to hope so also, but in reality it would expose them to legal liabilities as a result of item ownership...so Im fairly confident this will never ever happen, regardless of stabilities. Its mostly for their legal protection that they "claim in writing" ownership of everything.
