Just got kicked from my shop cos some event started at Emerald LA. Was with some ppl and when someone said will kick us, was thinking "nah, that can`t be that stupid", but it happened. Is this a bug or is it the way it should be, cos if so, it sucks bigtime?

Hi,

No it's not a bug. When it happent the first time during an event I told Robroy to make a support ticket about it, but MA said they wouldn't change it.

Last I heard is that MA isn't looking to fix this anytime soon so the whole mall is an event area. You should get the warning when you enter the Mall within 10 minutes of the event notifying you of this.

MA please fix this! As much as events can bring some new customers to the Mall, regular customers cannot shop there. :(

So could the whole mall become a pvp area?

Me and some ppl in my soc was looking for som Breer m3a. For some reason all were sold out in the auc so we started lock in the mals. But no shopping in the emerald lake mall because this event. Me and my soc mates were quite suprised over this. If i had a shop in this mall i would be pretty pissed of....

Is there realy a good reason to block the whole mall?? Why not just the area around it...

just my two pec:)

bump this up, support case filed minutes ago:yay:

Ouch, thats a lil bad for business. Maybe Neo made the right decision after all :(

I discussed this with Skalman this past Feb when I met him in London, where he (shouted in pub) the jist of this problem to me.

Since then, we have been looking into the reasons and support cases for this issue.

But a few things I have to say to be sort of a devils advocate:
Yes, its really irritating that the malls do shut off during events, but the ratio of event times and normal shopping times makes it less prominent.

Also I can see an advantage of the malls being shut off during the event, simply to decrease user load during events. Events such as Equipping Calypso which can run up to 30+ people all hunting as fast as they can can sometimes lag the server pretty badly and to have a few dozen people trying to access the mall could present an even worse problem. Of course, a stronger server would do the trick, but of course we won't consider that as an option.

Emerald Lakes has a lot of advantages. Lower price mall maintainence, higher item count, two teleports, a land area dedicated to to the mall, a container nearby, etc etc. It seems almost expected that the land area would have some flaws and some set backs.

One thing I definitly DO agree with is this: if the mall is going to get shut off, then I agree, MA definitly should look into turning the mall itself into an event area for PVP. I think this would be great fun and plan to discuss this with Rob in the coming days. Here's hoping and I've got my fingers crossed!

I think all the malls are on a server of its own, this has been discussed before. So if there is a event outside, it wouldnt lag the inside of the mall. Since you can TP directly to the mall, it shouldnt really prove a problem.

While it might be an advantage for the events in the LA that the mall is shut off (if it is how you say it is lagging bc of mall activity), on same server, then it still would be a huge disadvantage for the mall. While RobRoy owns both the LA and the Mall he has interests in both (tax from events, rent and tax from mall), but I quite well udnerstand and support Mikass's frustration in this as it is the shopowners that really does suffer.

Its a issue that clearly should be resolved.

meanwhile skippie wants to be able to turn PvP on in his mall and cant  maybe robroy and skippie should swap malls :wtg:

Unfortunately, I'm not sure if MA has made it clear whether the mall is placed on the same server as the LA. If they have, someone please cue me in!

I think what we want to aim for is the perfect balance of mall and land area so that each can benefit the other.

Which is, of course, why I desperatly want to see PvP events inside the mall. Talk about people running and hiding inside shops! That would be awesome!

This is the reply I`ve got from support:

Hi,
Thanks for reporting this. Shopping Malls work as land areas where events can be organized within them. This is a feature, not a bug.

:scratch2:

I think some tried to create pvp events and it didn`t work... I don`t get it.

In a LA you can disable 'event creation' at the claim marker as owner.

Maybe this can be done for the mall as well?

I must try this

Emerald Lakes Mall and Emerald Lakes LA has only one control board :(

Skippy tried this with PA mall.
It seems that the small border around the mall is PvP then, but not the inside. :(
But I agree , it would be fun to have an indoor PvP event, with semi-blank radar. (Cannot see on radar is someone is ambushing from a shop.) :D

I think that a grenade launcher can be usefull to take out a shop-camper :sniper: :launcher:

Not a bug

Most interesting, that when I submited this as a case, I've got completely different answer:

Hi,

Unfortunately we are unable to say whether this will be changed now or in the future, but please stay tuned to the News section and Version Update Content Lists on the website.

So it was a bug in April but is not anymore in August.

Sorry MA, but that seems as a clear case of alibiing to me

MA Programmers messed-up, realised what they have done, looked into possible easy solutions, found none, realised it will take a major re-coding to make the Mall separate from LA during an event, so what is an easier solution as to promote the bug to be a feature and forget about the whole thing.

Reality check: Can you do PvP fight in the EL Mall during the PvP event on the EL LA?

NO.

Feature? My arse!

And what about those tens of shop owners and customers who get kicked out to Shinook Jungle as soon as any EL LA Event starts - They did not want to participate in any event, just go after their daily business in the Mall - this is clearly and without any doubts MA Programmers' shambles

Yes, that would justify this lame "feature", but don't hold your breath that MA will do it any time soon (or ever).

Just now remembered about this poor LA owner:

Since the VU 8.12 the 4th June !! (yeah 2 months already), one of my LA, the OLA 32 (magic mushroom land) north of Shinook Jungle TP has been damaged by MA's design engineer lack of proficiency. The shed, the fertilizer station and the land marker are undergrounded and can't allow me to access them neither EU participants coming to my place. For 2 months the LA has been dead ...

This poor fella obviously did not get it! This is surely not a bug but also a feature ! (wink, wink) ;) What got his Shed & Fertilizer Station underground was a massive landslide

Not sure what support case you are reading, but over here none of them state its a bug :scratch2:. Although I agree "features" like this should be fixed. I wonder how long the issue/bug list at MA acutally is

Right here:

OK, they do not say "bug" but they promise to change it sometime in the future (as opposed to a feature, which was meant that way and therefore doesn't need any changing).

This L :eyecrazy: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :eyecrazy: NG !!!

They are acutally quite clever and say they are not sure it will be changed not or in the future. So they basicly say they dont know if it will ever be changed ;).

This L :eyecrazy: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :eyecrazy: NG !!!

Or maybe they think everything is just fine as it is, in that case its short
